I’ve never been nominated for something before, so I was totally excited when I discovered that three lovely bloggers nominated me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award yesterday. Anna @ Anna’s Reading List, Rachael @ The End Of The Chapter and Erin @ Raised Reading, thanks for bringing a huge smile to my face!!
Here are the rules for this blogger award:
1. Thank and link the amazing person who nominated you.
2. List the rules and display the award.
3. Share seven facts about yourself.
4. Nominate 15 other amazing blogs and comment on their posts to let them know they have been nominated.
5. Optional: Proudly display the award logo on your blog and follow the blogger who nominated you.
Seven random facts about me:
1. I have loved books ever since I was little and remember Roald Dahl and Astrid Lindgren being amongst my favorites back then… I even dressed up as Pippi Longstocking once with plush monkey on my shoulder and all when I was about five years old!
2. During my life I have been reading books in three different languages (Dutch, English and Spanish), although now I mostly stick with English and sometimes Spanish. I live in Argentina now and only use Spanish in conversations… But when I’m reading in English and then start talking to someone, I sometimes switch between English and Spanish without noticing. It has already caused some awkward and funny situations in the past. 😀
3. I am what you can consider an absolute cat-lover since about the day I was born. I’ve been having cats as a pet for most of my life, not counting the years I’ve been travelling around. Meet my current cat Jazmin, who was rescued from the streets when she was about eight weeks old and now has grown to be a strong and healthy cat…
4. I absolutely love travelling and during the last five years I have lived in various countries both in Europe and in Latin America. I started in Spain where I studied, then went to Italy, UK, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia… But love brought me back to Argentina and as of last year I’m living together with the love of my life. (Sounds tacky, I know…)
5. One of my other passions beside reading is being creative in general, i.e. writing, drawing and photographing. I actually have an old blog where I stored some of my poems and stories, but I have to admit I haven’t written in a long time… Examples of poems and the first chapters of one of my stories you can find here.
6. I was a nerd with a capital N during my whole school period, mostly living in my own fantasy (book) world. I was also ridiculously shy… The shyness went mostly away over time but the books remained of course. 😀
7. One of my biggest dreams is to travel the world some day, but only if it’s together with my hubby… Apart from the fact that I couldn’t stand being far away from him, the experience of exploring the unknown is even more beautiful when you can share it with someone else. Who knows, I might be living the dream in the future, but for now I will just continue to explore the worlds created in books…
And I’m nominating:
It’s hard to find blogs that haven’t been nominated yet, so I decided to display a selection of awesome blogs by awesome people that are definitely worth visiting. Bring on the book love! In no particular order:

It’s great to know there are a lot of booklovers like me out there. 😀 Don’t feel obligated to participate if you don’t want to, I just wanted to share the love…
Congratulations! I hope you get your dream of traveling the world with the love of your life. I agree, it’s so much more exciting when you can share it! 🙂

Thanks! 🙂 I’ve travelled by myself in the past, but sharing the experience makes the new things you discover during a trip even more intense… Especially if you can share it with someone you love.

I wish I didn’t have to go to work today and I could spend some more time with each. I will definitely work on a post spreading the love! Thanks again Yvo.

Thank you again for the lovely nomination! And your “7 facts” were some of the most interesting I’ve run across! I love Roald Dahl, I spent six weeks in Argentina (Buenos Aires! olé!), I also love cats, I’m planning an inter-continental trip with my significant other very soon, I’ve recently tried to get into photography, I used to be ridiculously shy in elementary/middle school as well, and #7 I agree with 100%! Ok, so maybe we are just really, really alike 🙂 Except I wish I were fluent in Spanish like you are.

You’re welcome and thanks! Roald Dahl was one of my favorites and I must have read each of his books at least a hundred times. And when I was little they were always saying I would grown up to be the crazy cat lady one day…
I’ve actually lived in Buenos Aires for almost two years all together, mostly close to the obelisk and in the Congress neighborhood. It was a great experience although at a point the big city was driving me crazy… Travelling is the best and even better with someone else. I think I’m addicted to exploring the unknown hehe. It’s also a great way to take a lot of photos without excuses; I think that during my last one-month-trip I took more than 1500 photos alone…
And it might just be that we are actually really alike. 😉 The basics of Spanish are not dificult to learn, but it takes some time getting fluent. It’s a beautiful language to learn if you have the time.

First of all, I love the picture of the squealing little girl! That’s exactly how I felt when I was nominated too! Second, I love Roald Dahl! I’ve read Matilda more times than I can count, although I don’t currently own a copy. Also, my what big ears your cat has! It’s soooo cute! I too have a kitten with big ears that we named Gizmo because he made use think of the movie Gremlins. I’m so jealous of all of your travels! I’ve never been out of southern USA! One day I will make it to another country!

As soon as I saw that picture, I just had to use it. She’s too cute! 😀
Matilda, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, The BFG, The Witches, James And The Giant Peach… So many great stories and childhood memories!
Now Jazmin is an adult her ears don’t seem as big as in the photo, but yeah, they are above average for sure. Makes her extra cute. 😀 Also, sometimes she acts like a dog; she lies on her back asking for attention and she loves playing fetch for example. My theory is that when she was on the streets there was a dog close. 😉
Travelling is great, although I’ve never been to the USA yet. Surely one day you’ll go on a trip yourself! 🙂

Oh wow, I remember Pippi! Two Qs for you: What are your favorite genres to write, and which of the countries you mentioned has been your favorite place to live (or which would you like to see more of)? If I had the money I would live abroad in a heartbeat. I have also wanted to travel Europe ever since I heard of Eurail (Interrail for us non EU residents). Someday 🙂

I wanted to be like Pippi when I was little. 😀
I normally mostly write poetry or children fantasy stories (with invented creatures and my own illustrations). I haven’t had the time and inspiration to write in a long time, but hopefully somewhere in the future I will be able to pick up where I’ve left.
It’s hard to pick just one favorite place to live, because every place had something special. Spain was awesome, and I loved travelling around the country as every city in Spain has its own character… Colombia (Carthagena) was just like living in paradise with tropical climate all year round and beach closeby, but it just didn’t feel like home. Argentina is the country where I can feel at home, and I love its variety in climate and scenery… I’ve only visited the northern half of the country for now, and lived in Puerto Iguazu (close to Brazilian border) and Buenos Aires. I’m not a fan of big cities, and that’s why I’m living in the province now (since I moved in with my boyfriend).
Travelling Europe is the best; I want to go back there in the future since there are still a lot of countries left unexplored… Eurail is one of the best ways to explore Europe for sure. 🙂

I completed my post yesterday. Thank you for the nomination again!
I LOVED all of Astrid Lindgren’s books when I was younger! I still remember reading Ronia the Robber’s Daughter, Mio, My Son, Karlsson-on-the-Roof and Madicken….they all were my childhood heroes 😀 And I ALWAYS wanted to dress up as Pippi Longstocking for fancy dress parties but I never found the right costume haha 😀

You’re welcome! I will be checking out your post soon. 😀
Astrid Lindgren’s books were awesome, I must have read them a thousand times over. And I think my Pippi costume was handmade, but it looked quite good and I remember loving it. 😀

Haha, I can only imagine! I was always so jealous of those kids who had Pippi costumes, especially those handmade ones! Unfortunately, my parents were never that creative (and neither were I 😀 )

Pippi is awesome. I remember reading the book, watching the TV series and wanting to be like here when I was little; crazy and independent. 😉

I can TOTALLY relate to that feeling. She was my all-time childhood hero! And I also loved all the Pippi songs of course (I think I still know the lyrics of the famous Pippi song) 😀

Thanks! She’s hilarious. 😀 Aww, stray puppies are too cute and always in need of more love… I personally always prefer adopting over buying an animal, those poor things just need the loving home way more. A shame you couldn’t bring it home…
