This post over at Overflowing Bookshelves gave me the idea of starting my own review-a-thon this month. I have a huge amount of blog improvements pending as well as some earlier reviews that are still in the process of writing… And since I’m a professional procrastinator, my only hope is to put some pressure behind it and hopefully finally getting things done.
So these are my goals for the end of July:
- Complete at least 6 reviews that haven’t been published yet (which is about two a week and doable)
- Finish at least 12 reviews that need improving (both rating, new layout and text)
- Make a list of reviews by author, title and rating. (makes it easier to find my reviews)
- Make a list of book blogs I regularly visit (or book blog recommendations)
I’m keeping my fingers crossed it will work!
Also, Emily at Books & Cleverness is hosting a dusting off the shelf read-a-thon next month (August 1st-15th) in which I will definitely participate. Make sure to check out her blog and post! It’s all about finally reading those poor neglected books that have been collecting dust for six months or more…
On my list for now (I might alter it later on):
- And The Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini
- The Shining by Stephen King
- The Name Of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
- The Known World by Edward P. Jones
- The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka
- The Dead Zone by Stephen King
Good luck:)

This is the second post I’ve see today about getting into those books that have been sitting to-be-read for too long. I’m going to do something in August, but it might be a hybrid of multiple ideas.

I’ve got one to do too. I just posted my short review of “The Invention of Wings”: http://adverbsocial.wordpress.com/2014/06/30/book-14-the-invention-of-wings/. Have you read that yet? sigh! Loved it.
I’ve got to do another, but I’ve got the procrasto bug too. Need to write up: “You’re Next”.
Do it!

I’ve heard about The Invention Of Wings before, but haven’t had the chance to read it yet… The storyline with American history and slavery sounds really interesting, I might give it a go soon if I can get a copy. 🙂
And yes, the best way to fight procrastination is to set small goals and make sure to complete them as soon as possible… I’m working on mine right now. 🙂

Loved the author’s note at the end! At least on my Audible version, there was one.

I planned to write some of my holiday read reviews today but I didn’t achieve anywhere near as many as I wanted to… good luck with your challenge.

I know how you feel, I’m still trying to get all the posts I planned ready after a week without computer… I’ll probably continue tomorrow though. And thanks! 🙂
