Dusting Off The Shelf Read-A-Thon: Day 1,2 & 3

Emily at Books & Cleverness is hosting a Dusting Off The Shelf Read-A-Thon in which I’m participating!. It’s all about finally reading those poor neglected books that have been collecting dust for six months or more…Below you can find my progress during days one, two and three.

  • shiningDAY 1: FRIDAY AUGUST 1ST
    # Book started: The Shining by Stephen King
    # Pages read: 200 (on page 200 out of 512)
I was able to read quite a few pages the first day! I’m not sure why I left this one so long without reading, because until now it’s wonderfully creepy and very Stephen King.
    # Book continued: The Shining by Stephen King
    # Pages read: 130 (on page 330 out of 512)
Weekends are always more complicated for reading, but the story is interesting (and scary) enough to want to keep reading. Although I do not recommend reading it alone at night with the lights out…
    # Book continued: The Shining by Stephen King
    # Pages read: 91 (on page 421 out of 512)
Not a lot of reading on Sunday, but I hope to be finishing The Shining tomorrow!

  1. Wow good for you! Gah I’m so behind! It was the BFF’s b-day, so I had to go out and celebrate, but I plan on doing some major catching up today!

    • I hope you were able to catch up! I didn’t read as much as I wanted to today, but I was able to finish The Shining and start Lord Of The Flies… 🙂

  2. So glad you’re loving The Shining. I don’t think I’ve ever read any Stephen King. I definitely did a lot of Bookshelf reading in July, which felt like a huge accomplishment.

    • I’ve read a few of his books until now and I like his style. (Plus it is impressive that so many movies and series have been based on his work!)
And I’m glad you were able to read a lot of those books last month! I do feel bad myself when I neglect books for too long… 😉

  3. I haven’t started the read-a-thon yet. I’m glad you’re enjoying the Shining. I’ve been meaning to try another of King’s books, (I started and stopped the Gunslinger.) but maybe one that’s not as creepy as the Shining.

    • The Shining was a great read, but scary indeed… I’ve read others like The Mist and Carrie in the past, but both are still quite creepy. I wonder if he wrote any ‘light version’ thriller… 😉
