Teaser Tuesdays #8 – August 12th: The Name Of The Wind

teasertuesdays TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme originally featured at Should Be Reading. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

The book I’m currently reading is The Name Of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss for the Dusting Off The Shelf Read-A-Thon. I started it on Sunday and I haven’t been able to read as much as I would have liked yet (I’m suffering from an beginning eye infection as it seems 😦 ). What I can say that until now the book is definitely worth reading!

thenameofthewind“The noise agitated several of the others who moved restlessly in their cots. The older boy sitting in the corner raised his hands to the sides of his head and began to moan. He started rocking back and forth, gently at first, but then more and more violently so that when he came forward his head knocked against the bare stone of the wall.”

What are you reading right now?

  1. “So terrible were the conflicting energies there at grips that their neutralization was actually visible and tangible.” Galactic Patrol by EE “Doc” Smith (1939).

1930’s SF often employs awkward wording.

    • Thanks! It’s definitely a torture not being able to read… Makes you realize how much we rely on such a small thing as an eye. Luckily it’s a lot better already and I’m making some serious progress with The Name Of The Wind now. 🙂
