September is already two days old and with a new season starting soon, it’s time to incorporate a new feature: a monthly wrap up! I’ve been wanting to do this kind of monthly summary for a while now, and finally came around actually posting one.
August has been quite a busy month… I participated in two read-a-thons: the Dusting Off The Shelf read-a-thon hosted by Emily at Books & Cleverness AND the Bout Of Books 11 read-a-thon hosted at Bout Of Books. And although I wasn’t able to read as many books as I would have hoped for in August, I still made it to eight finished books and I’m about half way done with the ninth (Awakening Foster Kelly by Cara Rosalie Olsen). Not bad if you consider that I didn’t have as much reading time as I would have hoped… Somehow having three little kittens to take care of takes away a lot of your reading time! Poor little things have been having an eye infection, but are a lot better now.
This August was also my blog anniversary, I reached the milestone of a hundred books read since I started by blog in November 2012 and I’ve also received my very first ARC’s through the Guest Reviewer Program at Ethereal Book Reviews! 😀 This year alone I’ve read 54 books so far; only 16 left to complete the Goodreads reading challenge. Hopefully September will bring me more reading time! Now on to some numbers:
- Number of books read in August: 8 (1/2)
- Total number of books read this year: 54 (1/2)
- Total number of pages read in August: 3.427
- Total number of pages read this year: 19.938
This month I was actually quite lucky with my choices with five out of eight books rated four stars or higher and the lowest rating being three stars. Hopefully I will be just as lucky in September! The books I read in August are listed below sorted by rating from high to low:
- 4,5 stars:
The Shining by Stephen King
- 4 stars:
Discovering Daniel by Nadine Christian
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
Throne Of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
- 3,5 stars:
Lord Of The Flies by William Golding
I really wanna read that Patrick Rothfuss book! Also, I loved Eleanor and Park, and I also thoroughly enjoyed Throne of Glass

I’m glad you liked Eleanor & Park and Throne Of Glass as well! The Name Of The Wind is one of my favorite reads this year and without doubt worth reading if you like fantasy. 🙂

I’ve been seeing these kind of wrap ups at various blogs, and it’s a nice way of keeping track of what you are reading per month. 🙂

Congrats on so many books and the great wrap-up. I too am an Eleanor & Park fan, but was disappointed by Landline, which I just finished.

Thanks! 😀 I haven’t read any of Rainbow Rowell’s books yet, but I’m curious to see what your full thoughts are on Landline before I buy it.

Probably won’t post a full-length review, but hold for my September wrap-up. I wasn’t inspired to write much. Bummer.

I know the feeling, sometimes it takes me ages to write my opinion down properly. 🙂

Thanks! I actually prefer page count over amount of books sometimes, as it is easy to ‘cheat’ the numbers by reading short books. 😉
