Teaser Tuesdays #13 – September 23rd: The Dance Of The Spirits

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme originally featured at Should Be Reading. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

The book I’m currently reading is The Dance Of The Spirits by Catherine Aerie. This book has been kindly provided to me by the author in exchange for a review, and I’m highly enjoying this novel about the Korean war until now.

thedanceofthespirits““Little King was not just a dog. He was part of Jasmine’s childhood; he was a little brother, a dear faithful friend, and an indiscriminate companion to all the humans in the Garden Of Melody, whether they were noble or humble, whether they were rich or poor.”

What are you reading right now?

  1. This sounds like such an interesting book! I have wanted to read a book on the situation in Korea, especially about how it came about that they separated because I know very little regarding it. Would you recommend this read? I take it’s fiction right?

This week I am reading Burial Rite by Hannah Kent. I’ve posted a Teaser Tuesday regarding it this week 🙂

    • The Dance Of The Spirits is an historical fiction novel, and until now (I’m about 150 pages into the book) it focuses mostly on the war between Korea and China and the Russian/American influences. Historical facts are mixed with the story of a young female doctor and her family, and from what I’ve read I would definitely recommend this book. 🙂

I’ve heard good things about Burial Rites; I hope you are enjoying the read!

      • The Dance Of The Spirits is beautifully written and quite easy to follow. The perspective changes between an American soldier called Wesley and an Asian girl named Jasmine, who explain us the war from two different views. Definitely worth the read!

I haven’t read Burial Rites yet, but it is on my list. 😀
