With the new year already being two days old, it is time to sit down and think about my reading goals for 2015. Last December I managed to read 8 more books with a total of 2.617 pages, bringing the total number of books read in 2014 to 91 and the number of pages to 31.983. Way higher than I originally anticipated, and a number I probably won’t be able to reach this year. Then again, I won’t be looking for quantity this year; I will be trying to read slower, enjoy more and above all read books I have been wanting to read for ages. More concretely, these will be my goals:
READING:
- I’ve set my Goodreads goal to read 60 books; 31 books less than my final number last year. Like I said before, I will be aiming for quality, not quantity.
Read at least 5 classics (only those I haven’t read before count)
- Finish rereading the Harry Potter series (last three books left)
- Complete at least 5 series (can be trilogy as well; rereads don’t count)
- Bring my physical TBR pile below 50 books and keep it that way (currently 85 books are waiting to be read…)
- Read at least one book over 800 pages
- Read at least 5 books in Spanish
- Join at least 5 challenges during the year
BLOGGING:
- Finish and improve all my older reviews
- Update more frequently and try not to get too behind with reviews (example: I still have to write the last two reviews for last year… Oops!)
- Be more active in the community and try to comment more. I always try to, but somehow it is hard to find enough time to read, blog AND comment on the blogs I follow…
I’m looking at quality over quantity this year as well! I think it’ll make for a more relaxing, fun reading year- here’s hoping, anyways! Happy New Year and best of luck with all of your resolutions! 🙂

Can you combine any of these challenges? (Like reading a classic that’s over 800 pages?) I’m impressed with your goals. Good luck with your TBR list! Sometimes I’m bamboozled by my past self’s purchasing choices whenever I try and make a dent in mine. Maybe you’ll find some interesting books you completely forgot.

I think I probably won’t be that strict with myself and end up combining challenges… Except for those I’ve specified (like the series rereads etc) I mostly just want to enjoy reading, and try to downsize my TBR list. It will be hard not to buy new books for a while, but I will give it a try. 😉 Rediscovering past purchases is definitely a bonus…

Congrats on your reading! I made my goal higher, but now I’m having second thoughts. I love your goals! I really need to read books I own too. Yay for the over 800 page book! I should do that too since I used to read all really thick books before blogging. I love epic fantasy and I’ve heard good things about Sanderson and keep meaning to try him. Good luck!

Thanks! I was going to put my Goodreads goal higher since I will probably end up reading more, but I prefer keeping my goals low to avoid stress… 😉 I used to read a lot of thick books as well and this goal will help me remember to start reading them again. Either the fifth book in the A Song Of Ice And Fire series or a completely different title; although if I read the fifth HP book I will already reach the pagecount needed…
I haven’t read anything Sanderson yet, but like you I’ve hear good things about his work. I will look out for your reviews in case you will decide to read one of his books!
