WWW Wednesdays #25 – February 4th

wwwwednesdays

Originally featured at Should Be Reading and now hosted by Sam at Taking On A World Of Words, WWW WEDNESDAYS is still about answering the following three questions:

  • What are you currently reading?

allegiantI decided to put And The Mountains Echoed on hold for a while and read other books first… It was really good so far but I’m not exactly in the mood for it, so I prefer leaving it be for now. I’m currently reading Allegiant by Veronica Roth, the last in the Divergent series. This one has been on my TBR pile for ages, mostly because I’ve heard a lot of complaints about the ending and I didn’t really enjoy the second book as much as Divergent either. But, since one of my reading goals is to finish various series I’ve started previously, I decided to finally pick up Allegiant. I’m about a third into the book right now and so far it’s ok, although I still wish there would be less romance scenes between Tris and Tobias/Four.

  • What did you recently finish reading?

underdarkskiescharlieandthechocolatefactoryI’ve done a Roald Dahl reread after seeing the Johnny Depp movie version of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory last Saturday. Although I didn’t enjoy it as much as I did when I was a kid, I still think Dahl was a genius and his books are perfect reading material for children. Great to read to them with funny voices! Yesterday I was also able to finish Under Dark Skies, an ARC novel by A.J. Scudiere I ended up loving. It’s a forensic mystery/crime novel with a supernatural twist; definitely recommended!

  • What do you think you’ll read next?

thesecretgardencrownofmidnightLike last week, I’m still not sure what to read next. I have book two and three in the Throne Of Glass series lined up and waiting for me, but I should also make a dent into my TBR pile challenge list. A possible title could be The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett; the outcome of my latest attempt of using the TBR jar…

  1. I hope you like Allegiant. It was a fitting end to the series, even if it wasn’t what I wanted. I also could have done with fewer romantic scenes, but hey, some people love that stuff. Happy reading!

    • So far it is good enough, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed I won’t completely hate the ending… The romance scenes are a bit too much but I guess most YA readers wouldn’t mind. 😉
      Happy reading!

  2. I loved Allegiant and although the ending wasn’t what everyone wanted, it was fitting for the series. I hope you won’t end up hating how it turns out. It was a really great book.

I am defintely going to look into Under Dark Skies. Sounds like it’ll be something I’ll really like.

    • I guess that is what the general thought is about the ending… The good thing is that I’m prepared for the worse so I won’t be disappointed. 😉 So far it’s good!

Under Dark Skies is definitely worth reading! The prose and pace are just right and I loved the supernatural twist Scudiere introduced.

      • I’m glad you like it so far. I hated how a lot of people rated the book so badly just because of the ending, when it really wasn’t bad at all.

I’m really looking forward to Under Dark Skies. 🙂 I like that it has a supernatural twist. I think that’ll be awesome.

    • Yeah, I’ve been having the same problems with the Throne Of Glass series… I enjoyed reading the first book back in June 2014, but somehow I never came around reading the next two books even though I have owned the copies for months.

  3. I have Allegiant at home, too, and I’m a little scared of reading it because of what I’ve heard about it. Not necessarily the ending, but the quality of the storytelling… But I think I’ll bite the bullet and read it once I’ve seen the Insurgent movie, since I’ll be in the “Divergent” mood then.

    • I’m now half way done and it’s good so far… Too much romance scenes for my taste but it’s about the same quality as book two. I’m keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way! Watching the Insurgent movie first is probably something I should have done myself… It took me a while to get into the story since I read the second book exactly a year ago.
