TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme originally featured at Should Be Reading. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)
I started reading And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie the other day, and so far I’m really enjoying this read. This novel is considered a modern classic and I can definitely understand why. The prose is brilliant and the plot intriguing! The little Indian nursery rhyme that is shown in the beginning gives you a glimpse of what will happen later on in the story… I’m currently about 63% into the story, and since it’s hard to stop reading I will probably end up finishing it later today.
My teaser (25%):
“A bit unsporting, what?” he said. “Ought to ferret out the mystery before we go. Whole thing’s like a detective story. Positively thrilling.”
What are you reading right now?
I really want to read Agatha Christie! I’m looking forward to your review 🙂

I’m not sure why I haven’t read any of her books before, but And Then There Were None is definitely worth reading so far!

So far it’s really good! And Then There Were None is written back in 1939, but it definitely doesn’t feel outdated.

I read another book recently that had a nursery rhyme as it’s theme too! Sounds like a good one!
Thanks for coming by mine today from Trail of Broken Wings

I had an Agatha Christie phase that lasted about two years (to be honest it only ended because I ran out of books in the library. I still always read an Agatha Christie on holidays) and this was the book that kicked it off. It’s one of the best mysteries ever written and, even though I’ve read just over 40 over her books, this is probably still my favourite from Agatha Christie.

I can see why it’s your favorite, I finished it this afternoon and absolutely loved it. Such a brilliant mystery! It was my first Agatha Christie read, and I will definitely read more of her work in the future… Which one would you suggest I try next?

One of the detectives the Christie uses in loads of her stories, Hercule Poirot, has some pretty great books, so I’d recommend one of those. Obviously there are the famous ones like Murder On The Orient Express and Death And The Nile. Other Poirot books that are great are The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd, Death In The Clouds and Cat Among The Pigeons. If you want to try her other detective, Miss Marple, try The Murder At The Vicarage or The Body In The Library. Another great standalone book that has no recurring characters, like And The There Were None, is Crooked House. I hope I was of some help and didn’t overwhelm you!

Thanks for all your recommendations! Agatha Christie has written so many novels that I wasn’t sure where to start, and thanks to your recommendations now I do. I will definitely try out both her series and Crooked House somewhere this year.

Agatha Christie is one of my favorite authors. And Then There Were None is one of my favorites. If you get the chance also read The Murder on the Orient Express. That one is great, too!
