Teaser Tuesdays #52 – July 21st: Magonia

teasertuesdays

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme originally featured at Should Be Reading. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I’ve finally started reading Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley for the The Book Club of the Opinionated Hufflepuffs! I normally try to read book club titles at the beginning of the month, but somehow I’ve managed to ignore Magonia until now. I’ve only just started reading it, but it looks really promising… And if the story is anything as good as the gorgeous cover, I’m sure I will end up loving it!

My teaser (39%):

“Nestling, ships have their secrets. Magonia has its secrets too. You’ll learn what you need to learn soon enough.”

What are you reading right now?

  1. You are definitely right, the cover does look gorgeous! I will have to keep an eye out for your review on this, would love to know your thoughts. Are you enjoying the book so far? Is it a slow starter type of book or does it get right into it?

    • I’m not too sure about it so far; I’m about 20% into the book and it wasn’t the fantasy read I was expecting. (Although I have a feeling the fantasy part is about to start). The prose feels a bit forced, but hopefully I will get used to it later on…

  2. Hope the book starts to improve. I have it on my to-read list but it seems as though everyone either loves or hates this story, nothing in the middle. Can’t wait for your review. 🙂
I’m finally starting a book by Karina Halle – Sins & Needles.

    • Hopefully I will end up belonging to the first group! I’m not loving it so far, but I’ve only recently reached the fantasy part.
I’m not really a fan of romance, but Sins & Needles sounds like an interesting read. 🙂

      • Fingers crossed that you belong to the first group and hopefully the story will move more into your liking.
I keep hearing so many beautiful words about that story. Plus, the author is going to be at a signing I am going to next month, and I thought this would be a good time to try out her books. It’s different, but so far intriguing.
