I can’t believe yet another month has ended! It’s August already, and my six week backpacking adventure is coming closer… Only give or take fifty days before we leave! 😀 It’s still winter down here in Argentina and quite cold. I guess it’s the perfect weather to read a lot, because I was able to finish no less than twenty books! Yay! I’ve also finally (almost) finished my multicolor bedspread and it looks awesome! 😀 Now on to some numbers…
- Number of books read in July: 20
- Total number of books read this year: 100
- Total number of pages read in July: 6.132
- Total number of pages read this year: 33.359
I can’t believe I was able to read twenty books this month! Some of them were actually novellas, but still… Not the highest page count ever, but definitely the highest number of books I’ve been able to read in a month. 😀 More than half of the titles received above a 3 star rating, but unfortunately I had some pretty disappointing reads as well. Below a list of the books I’ve read in July; four reviews are still pending and will be posted soon!
5 STARS: I Hunt Killers – by Barry Lyga // Game – by Barry Lyga // Made You Up – by Francesca Zappia // Scarlet – by Marissa Meyer // Wonder – by R.J. Palacio
4 STARS: Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children – by Ransom Riggs // Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock – by Matthew Quick // 314 – by A.R. Wise
3.5 STARS: Lucky Day – by Barry Lyga // Americosis Vol. 1 – by Haydn Wilks // Four – by Veronica Roth
3 STARS: The Scorch Trials – by James Dashner // Linger – by Maggie Stiefvater
2.5 STARS: The 5th Wave – by Rick Yancey // Magonia – by Maria Dahvana Headley
2 STARS: Masquerade – by Kylie Fornasier // The Truth About Alice – Jennifer Mathieu // The 100 – by Kass Morgan
1 STAR: Everblue – by Brenda Pandos // Claudia Must Die – by T.B. Markinson
This year I’m doing things slightly different and I’m including an update for the different challenges I’m participating in as well. That way I won’t be having a dozen update posts wandering around. This month I was able to complete my Goodreads Reading Challenge yet again! 😀 I’ve decided to update it one last time, but since I’m already 31 books ahead of schedule I don’t think I will be having problems completing that one either. 😉 I haven’t made a lot of progress with the rest of the challenges though…

As far as the other reading and blogging goals go, I’ve managed to neglect them for yet another month… I’m a disaster, I know haha. 😀 I am trying to complete more series though, and I will probably be able to finish one or two next month. I guess the promise I made myself to read a sequel for every new series I want to start does help. 😉 My TBR goal is as hopeless as ever and I really need to work on those older reviews and Spanish reads. Hopefully I will be able to make some progress before my vacation!

Wow, you had a great reading month! And that bedspread looks AWESOME! Are you quilting it?

Thanks! I’ve actually knitted (crochet) the bedspread square by square… A lot of work and I’m still finishing the final border, but I love how it looks! 😀 Quilting would have been a lot faster though. 😉

The hard work definitely paid off, though! I’ve always wanted to learn how to crochet. I love knitting, but I haven’t branched past that yet.

It was the first time I tried crochet myself and apparently I didn’t do it the right way haha. It looks more like ‘normal’ knitting but I love the result anyway. 😀

July was my highest reading book count for the year as well! 20 books is so good!
I loved Made You Up and I have nothing but flailing reviews about I Hunt Killers, I really think I should get onto it! I’ve been eager to get to 5th Wave, Magonia and The Truth About Alice but you don’t seem to have liked them overally much – I guess I’ll have to read them and make my own opinion 🙂
I love that you goal was to get you physical TBR pile below 150 books and instead it’s grown 70 books that’s totally me haha!
Your bed spread looks awesome, you’ve obviously put in a lot of effort! And that’s exciting about your trip coming up so soon!!!
Looks like you had a great month! 🙂

I Hunt Killers is one of my favorite books this year, definitely worth reading! The other three titles have had a lot of mixed reviews, so you might end up enjoying them a lot better than I did. 🙂 My TBR pile is a total disaster haha, I actually wanted to bring it below 50 in January but that is just impossible. I need like 48 hours in a day to even try and reach that number haha.

I know I really should read it! Yeah, I hope I do enjoy them 🙂 Haha I need to add like 40 years onto my life if I’m ever going to get through my TBR.

I also really love the way that you set up this post. I’m trying a new format on my recap post today.

Great reading month for you! If you keep this pace you’ll probably update your goodreads challenge a couple of times more.
What pattern did you use for the squares on your fabulously colorful bedspread? It looks great! Congrats on finishing it! If you didn’t tell us you were working on the borders, I would’ve not known it wasn’t finished. I take my hats off to you, it was a big crochet job!

Haha I don’t think I will update it again after this one and just go with the flow… 😉 I haven’t really used a pattern for the bedspread; I made the squares using crochet (starting with circle and adding extras.)
