- WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?
Since I’m still not completely out of my reading slump, I have been trying to read genres I haven’t been reading a lot lately… Romance is one of those, so I started November 9 by Colleen Hoover the other day. I think this might actually one of the first romance novels to receive one of the highest ratings; I’m loving it so far! I started Let It Snow by John Green as well, but I put it on hold because I don’t really like the first story so far. And I’m trying to finish Hamlet by William Shakespeare so I’m one step closer to finally completing my last two pending challenges. It’s been too long since I last read his work!
- WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
Only two books this week… Between my reading slump and Christmas decorating I just didn’t have a lot of time to read.
* The first book Takeover by Lisa Black was mostly a disappointment with very boring characters, plot and prose in general. More about my complaints in the full review…
* I then finished Paperweight by Meg Haston, a very well written book about eating disorders. The main character is not exactly likeable, but very realistic. Recommendable!
- WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?
I have a new ARC pending: Rough Roads With Reckless Drivers by Lara Pass. I will probably read that one next… I also want to read Memories by Lang Leav, a collection of poems I need for a challenge. If I’m in the mood for fantasy, I’m going to try and pick up either The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater or Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman (latest TBR jar pick).
Oooo! If you read The Raven Boys next we’ll probably end up reading it at the same time 🙂 I’m really looking forward to it as I’ve only heard good things.
I loved Kenneth Brannagh’s film version of Hamlet which was invaluable when I was studying Shakespeare at university. It makes the text so much easier to remember and understand.

That’s such a coincidence! I’m not sure when I’m going to start reading The Raven Boys though, because I don’t have a lot of spare time this week to at least finish November 9 and Hamlet first… I might check out the film version you mentioned so it’s easier to read.

I’m ashamed to say I’ve not read Shakespeare since school. It can’t have made too much of an impression as I’ve not been inclined to read anymore. However, I have seen Love Labour’s Lost at the RSC in Stratford and really enjoyed it.

I’ve only read Macbeth during high school and mostly just know the basic things about his other plays… So you’re not the only one. 😉

I absolutely loved November 9! I think it’s my new favorite Colleen Hoover book. You would probably like Ugly Love as well. Such a great list! Here’s my post for the week. Happy reading!

Romance is not really my thing, but Colleen Hoover sure is an exception to that rule. I love her writing! I have a copy of Ugly Love on my TBR pile, so I might give that one a go soon as well.

I’ve seen November 9 around in a few places lately and it does sound very intriguing. Hope you enjoy Raven Boys; I’ve got that on my TBR as well.

I never thought I would say this about a romance novel, but November 9 and Colleen Hoover actually convinced me I could enjoy the genre. And I’m looking forward to read The Raven Boys soon!

I still have to read a book set in the 16th century after that, but I found the perfect light read to complete that one quickly as well. Hamlet makes for a very interesting 17th century read though. Happy reading! 🙂
