“I’d rather trust the versions of ourselves we don’t remember than trust people who don’t know us at all.”
I really enjoyed reading the first two parts of the Never Never series last year and I have been waiting anxiously for the third and final part ever since. It wasn’t a surprise whatsoever that I just HAD to get a copy as soon as it was published… And you can imagine this excitement made by final disappointment by this ending all the bigger. I have just one question for Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher: WHY???!!! After the first two parts there were so many possible endings for this story, and I still cannot believe the road they decided to take in Never Never Part Three. I won’t go into details to avoid spoilers for those who haven’t read it yet, but what I can say is that I almost vomited because of the cheesiness of this third part and I was really tempted to throw my kindle against the wall by the time I reached the ending. What used to be an intriguing mystery story about two teenagers with memory loss has been turned into a story you either love or hate… And unfortunately I don’t belong to the first group. If you don’t mind (cheesy) romance, you will probably enjoy this final part though.
WARNING: do not read this summary if you haven’t read the first two parts yet! It will most likely contain spoilers, even though I’ve made sure to keep it short.
Silas and Charlie still don’t have their memories back and are not really closer to finding out the truth about why and how they lost it in the first place… Together they will have to look deeper into their past to see if they can dig up any new information. Meanwhile, the time is ticking and they only have limited time before their memories are reset again… Or so it seems. Could it be that Silas is keeping something secret from Charlie? Will they restore their memories and regain what they once had?
The first half of Never Never Part Three was quite good and I was able to enjoy the prose as much in the first two parts. But as soon as I realized the path Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher had decided to take I was starting to feel uncomfortable. I don’t like cheesy romance and after the first two parts that was definitely NOT what I signed up for. Without going into further details, I can say I was more than disappointed with the ending and in a way I wish I hadn’t read the final part…Because the whole series is now kind of ruined for me. If you haven’t read the series or the final part yet and don’t like cheesy romance, hereby consider yourself warned.
Oh yes. Oh yes. I agree! The first book is really thrilling, impressive. The second was fine! But the last one is just disappointing!

Good to hear we had similar thoughts! The first two parts were good, but the third just ruined the whole mystery around their condition. Such a shame…

That is true. This is a promising book and I am far too disappointed for its shallow ending.

So many people I know were disappointed with this third instalment. It was a complete departure to the style we got in the first two parts. I didn’t hate it but feel a bigger play on the supernatural would’ve been great – plus there were all these characters introduced earlier on that their story lines weren’t picked up and finished off. We should start a movement #NeverNeverAlternateEnding 😉

Haha that sounds great! I think a lot of people would appreciate an alternate ending of Never Never… The road they decided to take is just too different from what you would expect after reading the first two parts and I agree some of the characters they introduced before shouldn’t have been ignored.

Lots of disappointments with this ending. I’m not even sure that I want to know how it all ends, since most of the reviews I’ve read stated how much they disliked it.

I’m not surprised a lot of people don’t like the ending, especially it’s so different than the idea you get after reading the first two parts. It’s actually kind of misleading…

Ugh, I so don’t want to read it. But my OCD is telling me to.

Haha I know the feeling! Maybe knowing the ending isn’t that good and cheesy will help lessen the overall disappointment a little.

Hm, I’ve been meaning to read this series, but I’m not sure when I’ll actually get around to it. I’m sorry to hear this was a disappointment! I’ve read other reviews with similar feelings to yours, so I dunno… Great review, though! ❤

Thanks! The first parts are really good and maybe if you read them all three together expecting a cheesy ending things won’t be so bad… In general the story is very well written.

At least the novellas were short reads so I didn’t waste too much time, but I still wish they would have ended the story in a different way… After such an intriguing start a cheesy ending just wasn’t the way to go.

I have part one lurking on my kindle at the moment but having read a couple of Colleen Hoover books recently I’m not sure I want to read it. I’m just really not sure her books are for me and based on your review I’m thinking this almost definitely isn’t.

I’ve only read (and loved November 9) of her novels, but if you don’t like cheesy endings Never Never definitely isn’t for you. The first two parts are good and intriguing, but don’t make sense without an ending… And that ending is very disappointing.

Ahhh, I am so anxious to pick up my own copy and read part three! You are the first review that I’ve seen posted in regards to this novel in specific, but based on the comments I see you aren’t the only one feeling this way about it…Definitely gonna have to pick it up for myself soon. Great post! 🙂

I hope you will enjoy it better than most of us! Who knows, maybe having been warned about the sappy ending helps feeling less disappointed by it. 😉
