WWW WEDNESDAYS is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words and is all about answering the three questions below.
- WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?
I’m still reading The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton and so far I’m really enjoying it. The only reason I haven’t finished it yet is that my reading slump is making it hard to concentrate for a long time and I have been reading ‘easy’ reads instead… So that’s why I decided to start reading Kindred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell as well. It’s a short read so I will probably finish it today.
- WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
* The first book I finished was All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. I always enjoy a good historical fiction WWII story and this one has to be one of my all time favorites. Such a beautifully written story!
* I then read Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson, which ended up being a very interesting read with a lot of funny moments. Warning: make sure to read it when nobody is around because you will probably laugh out loud!
* I also finally picked up my first Spanish read in ages: Bestiario by Julio Cortázar. I really liked the combination of ordinary things with magical realism elements… But I have to be honest and say that some stories were a lot better than others.
* The last book I finished is The Secrets Of Lake Road by Karen Katchur, a book I picked up on a whim and turned out to be a really quick read.
- WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?
I might pick up Random by Tom Leveen depending of which genre I’m in the mood for… Although I will probably start my Red Queen series marathon by reading the first of two novellas Queen Song. In case I don’t want fantasy, I have Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover lined up as well; The Liar’s Chair by Rebecca Whitney is still my latest TBR jar pick.
I’ve been in a reading slump too, which feels horrible, but I also just bought Kindred Spirits in the hope it would get my reading mojo back so I hope it works for both of us!
Here’s my week in books:

I think this officially makes me the last person to read All The Light We Cannot See. I saw it in Spain at Christmas and considered getting it in Spanish… but then I saw how long it was and thought better of it!

I haven’t read All The Light We Cannot See yet either; we maybe the last two people 🙂

It took me a long time to finally read All The Light We Cannot See as well, but it’s definitely worth reading. Such a beautifully written WWII story! I think I would prefer reading it in English though; I’m not sure a Spanish translation would be as good in this case.

Glad you’re enjoying The Miniaturist albeit in small chunks. I really enjoyed it and loved all the little twists. Hope you’re not in a reading slump for too long 🙂

I’ve decided to read The Miniaturist only when I have enough time to properly sit down for it… It might take a bit longer, but at least it means that I can really enjoy it. I’m about a third into the story and I really like it so far.

I love books where they make me burst out laughing! Tina Fey’s autobiography was one that did that for me. I made the mistake of bringing it with me on the plane. Here’s my post.

I still have to read Tina Fey’s book, but know I’m definitely looking forward to it even more. Furiously Happy is a very interesting mix of humor and darker elements (mental ilness) and definitely made me laugh out loud. Luckily I was at home so it wasn’t that embarrassing. 😉

Haha I know the feeling; I had the exact same reaction when I first heard about the title! It’s actually a short story she wrote for World Book Day and really entertaining. 😀 I’m looking forward to read my second Colleen Hoover book soon! I loved November 9 even though I normally don’t read a lot of romance.

I really enjoyed All The Light We Cannot See! It was such an intriguing and unique story. But I still think my favorite WWII book may have to be The Nightingale. Great post!

Rainbow Rowell released Kindred Spirits last month for World Book Tag; it’s a short story and definitely entertaining.
All The Light We Cannot See is without doubt one of the best WWII stories I’ve read to this date. 🙂
