WWW WEDNESDAYS is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words and is all about answering the three questions below.
- WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?
I finally started The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah the other day and even though I didn’t have much free time to read, I’m really enjoying it so far. I’ve also finally picked up my latest TBR jar pick The Name Of The Star by Maureen Johnson, but it’s too soon to say anything about it.
- WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
* The first title I managed to finish since last week was The Girl In The Ice by Robert Bryndza. The plot, plot twists and descriptions are really good, but the ‘bitchiness’ of the character did make me enjoy this mystery/thriller less than I thought I would… Still definitely worth reading though!
* I then decided to read Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover, which turned out to be an entertaining enough read. I actually loved the first part (up until about 55-60% I would have given it 5 stars), but things went downhill from there… Still, I really enjoyed most of it.
* I decided to pick up the novella Maybe Not by Colleen Hoover as well since it was short and I kind of wanted to read more about Warren… And I actually liked the novella better than the last part of Maybe Someday.
* The last book I finished is A Gathering Of Shadows by V.E. Schwab, and I have a feeling it is going to take some time to get my thoughts together… Such a good series and the wait for the third book is going to be a long one!
- WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?
I really should start reading Daughter Of Smoke And Bone by Laini Taylor next since it was the winner of the which series to read next? poll last month… I will most likely do as soon as I finish one of the titles above; I just wanted to read my last TBR jar pick first. I also want to read The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater, although I should probably get a copy of the fourth book first… And I honestly don’t know why I haven’t read See How They Run by Ally Carter yet, since I loved the first book last year and this sequel has been on my most anticipated 2015 releases list. Oops? My new TBR jar pick is Love Letters To The Dead by Ava Dellaira. I’ve heard mixed things about that one, so I will be keeping my fingers crossed.
I read Daughter of Smoke and Bones and didn’t really care for it. I did listen to it on audio and that could be why. There was so much to the would that I think I wasn’t getting it all, because I couldn’t even tell you what it was about. I think I want to give it another chance in physical form. I still haven’t read The Raven Boys. I have heard many good things and have to get on it soon. Hope you have a good reading week 🙂

I’m not really a fan of audiobooks myself because I get too easily distracted when I try to listen to one… Hopefully the physical copy will be better. And I enjoyed The Raven Boys, although I didn’t LOVE it as so many people seem to do… But it is definitely worth reading.

I really need to read the A Darker Shade of Magic series and The Raven Cycle! So many people rave about both.

A Darker Shade Of Magic is definitely even better than The Raven Cycle (I didn’t LOVE that one as much as most people); V.E. Schwab made it straight to my list of favorite authors.

I don’t think I’ve heard a single negative thing about ADSOM or of Schwab’s writing. I’m going to try to read it soon.

I’ve only read the Shades Of Magic books so far, but those two books are brilliant.

I’m so excited for the final Raven book. I’m second on the wait list for the library copy, so I’ll probably get to it sometime in May. Laini Taylor’s DoSaB has a really cool setting and premise, but I didn’t like it as much as I’d hoped and have been putting off reading the sequel. Thanks for reminding me to get to it!
Thanks for visiting my WWW post, and happy reading!

I hope you will be able to get The Raven King soon! I’ve heard mixed things about the DoSaB sequels so I’m going to wait and see how I like the first book before getting the copies. Happy reading!

Haha such a coincidence! The Ally Carter version supposedly has to have a lot of action as well, but a good crime/thriller read doesn’t sound bad at all. I hope you will keep enjoying it!

I am trying to be better about audiobooks. I just don’t have the time to focus on them. When I drive, I want to listen to music and sing along and be in my own little zone. I have encountered some narrators that have completely turned me off of the book, but I try to look past that.

I’ve only tried to start a few audiobooks so far, but like you I’m finding it hard to focus and I didn’t particularly like the voices either… I mostly just prefer listening to music like you.

Can’t wait to see what you make of Smoke and Bone and whether your verdict confirms my belief that we are book twins 🙂
I can’t wait for A Conjuring of Light (A Darker Shade of Magic 3, title announced a few days ago). Although, from following V.E. Schwab on Twitter, it sounds like writing it is killing the poor woman!
Thanks for visiting my WWW post (https://clairehuston.wordpress.com/2016/04/27/www-wednesday-27th-april-2016/) and happy reading!

Haha I hope I end up enjoying Daughter Of Smoke And Bone! Shades Of Magic turned out to be another opinion we have in common… 😉 The wait for the third book is going to be a long one though, especially with the cliffhanger ending. I need to know how things continue! But I can definitely understand why she would be under a huge amount of stress right now. Happy reading!

I really want to read The Nightingale! It looks really good. I can’t say I enjoyed Love Letters to the Dead. It was DNF for me.

The Nighingale is really good so far! And boy, I’m afraid to pick up Love Letters To The Dead now… Because to be honest I haven’t been sure about it either. I will still give it a go since it’s a TBR jar pick, but now I know not to expect too much. 🙂

I have both Maybe Someday and Girl in the Ice sitting waiting on my kindle. I’m starting to think all Colleen Hoover books are the same and I will both love and hate them.

I’ve been having very mixed experiences with Colleen Hoover’s work so far… I loved November 9 and enjoyed Maybe Someday, but I REALLY didn’t like Ugly Love. I’m a bit afraid to pick up her other novels haha. The Girl In The Ice is an interesting enough whodunit read; I hope you’ll enjoy it!

Thanks for stopping by my post yesterday. Sorry for responding late. I’ve been meaning to read the Nightingale. I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying it.
Ah! I have A Darker Shade of Magic ready on my shelf to be read. I hear such good things. Hopefully the hype won’t ruin the read 🙂
Happy Reading this week!

The Nightingale is definitely good so far, although I’m not too far into the story. But if I have to pick one, I would definitely suggest reading A Darker Shade Of Magic first. It’s SUCH a good read! I think it’s one of the few books out there that’s actually worth the hype… 😉 Happy reading!
