WWW WEDNESDAYS is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words and is all about answering the three questions below.
- WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?
I started reading The Enchanted by Rene Denfeld on a whim and while the prose looks really promising, I’m not so sure about the story itself so far. I’ve put it on hold as long as I’m reading The Strange And Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton, which is interesting so far even though a bit strange and I’m hoping the story will end up being just as good as the gorgeous cover.
- WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
* The first book I managed to finish is The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. It actually took me a lot of time to finish this book and while the story is really intriguing, I wasn’t so sure about the characters… Some of their actions and dialogues didn’t feel all that ‘natural’ (especially Vianne and Isabelle), although it did become a lot better later on in the story. That said, it is still a really good WWII historical fiction read and definitely worth reading.
* I’ve also finished The Name Of The Star by Maureen Johnson, which was my latest TBR jar pick. Although it wasn’t what I was expecting, it’s without doubt a very entertaining paranormal thriller with a Jack The Ripper twist… I will be trying to pick up the sequel soon.
- WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?
Basically my list of books I want to read next is the same as last week. Oops! My next read is going to be Daughter Of Smoke And Bone by Laini Taylor; I know, I have been saying this for the last few weeks but this time I’m going to pick it up for real! I also want to read The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater, although I should probably get a copy of the fourth book first… And I want to read See How They Run by Ally Carter as well. My newest TBR jar pick is Love Letters To The Dead by Ava Dellaira, although I’m not sure if I would actually like that one since I’ve heard a lot of mixed things about it.
Oooo! Looking forward to hearing what you think of Ava Lavender. I had very mixed feelings Also, I don’t think it was quite what I was expecting either…
Also can’t wait to hear what you think of Smoke and Bone 🙂

I’m about 30% into Ava Lavender and I’m still not sure what to think either… It’s strange and original, but I also feel something is missing so far. (Although I cannot put my finger on what that something is right now.)
I can’t wait to start reading Daughter Of Smoke And Bone though! I’ve been posponing it too long as it is. 😉

The Strange And Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender has a nice cover and sounds interesting, I’ll be looking forward to your review. I’d love to read The Name of The Star, the blurb is promising. It cannot go wrong if it involves Jack the Ripper!
Happy reading! 🙂

The Name Of The Star is definitely interesting and has quite a few Jack The Ripper references! The author actually made it into a YA paranormal thriller which is a nice twist. 🙂 I’m hoping to finish Ava Lavender before the weekend; so far it’s interesting, although not as good as I hoped. Happy reading!

Haven’t read any of the books on your list but a lot of them are on my TBR pile so I’ll be interested to see what you think of them. I have to admit The Enchanted does appeal based purely on the horses on the cover 🙂

I think the cover of The Enchanted is what first convinced me to try it as well… So far I’m not convinced even though the prose is interesting, but it is still too early to tell since I’m only about 12% into the story.

It took me some time to get a proper feel of the story, but the last part of The Nightingale blew me away. Definitely a really good WWII historical fiction story!

I have The Strange And Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender on my TBR so I’m keen to see what you think of it once you’ve finished it. I hope you enjoy it more as you get in to it. It has such a beautiful cover, doesn’t it? It was one of the reasons I bought it.
Hope you enjoy the books you’ve picked to read this week.

I think the cover of Ava Lavender was the principal reason I first got my copy; it’s gorgeous. The story is interesting so far, although I’m not completely convinced by it yet. But even if I end up not liking it that much, at least I can stare at the cover whenever I want… 😉

The cover of The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender is so pretty!! I’m glad to see you enjoyed The Name of the Star. I found it at a thrift shop back in March and I’m hoping to read it over my summer break.

The cover was probably the principal reason I got my copy of Ava Lavender… The story itself is interesting so far, but not as good as the cover. 😉 I hope you will enjoy The Name Of The Star as well when you get to it.

As always a very interesting mix – I did like The Nightingale although I understand where you’re coming from with the characters… The cover to The Strange And Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender is wonderful – I hope you get a grip of the book soon.

The minor problems I had with the characters were mostly in the beginning… The last part of The Nightingale blew me away. I’m having mixed thoughts about The Strange And Beautiful Sorrows Of Ava Lavender so far; hopefully things will improve later on…

I had a very mixed reaction to DoSaB which has so far had me pushing the sequels further and further down my TBR list. I hope you like it better than I did!
Thanks for visiting my WWW post, and happy reading!

I’ve started it the other day and so far it’s interesting, although I’m not too far into the story yet… I’ve heard mixed things about the sequels as well though, so if you didn’t like the first one posponing them might just be the best choice. 😉 Happy reading!
