WWW WEDNESDAYS is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words and is all about answering the three questions below.
- WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?
I haven’t been reading much during the last two days, because I have been trying to reduce the backlog of reviews after the Bout Of Books read-a-thon. Still 5 reviews to go, sigh… I have started reading Hero by Belinda Crawford the other day, which is a very interesting read so far and I’m looking forward to continue reading this story soon. I’ve also picked up Binge by Tyler Oakley on a whim because I was in the mood for a light (and funny) read, and this memoir has been really entertaining so far even though I have to confess I hadn’t heard of the author or his youtube channel before.
- WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
* The first book I managed to finish is The Reader On The 6.27 by Jean-Paul Didierlaurent, which was originally written in French. I really enjoyed this story! Part of it felt a bit like Fahrenheit 451, but also completely different… And I loved the fact that the main character read random pages he had saved himself from the Thing.
* I then finished Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult, which I read for the The Revolving Shelf book club. I really liked that this story was a mix of elephant info, paranormal elements and a missing person case. Not perfect, but really entertaining.
* Stars Above by Marissa Meyer was my previous TBR jar pick, and turned out to be just as entertaining as I thought it would be. I liked some stories better than others, but the epilogue was without doubt brilliant. It might be a sappy happy ending, but I really didn’t care in this case. 😉
* I also read See How They Run by Ally Carter, and the sequel was almost just as good as the first book. A really entertaining spy thriller with an international touch that is definitely worth reading, even though the main characters can get annoying.
* My last BoB book I finished was Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy, which has turned out to be yet another ‘unpopular opinion’ book for me. I didn’t really like this story: the way the main character treated the others; the way she was treated by most people; the stereotypes; the bullying… I just wasn’t convinced.
* I also read the classic The Time Machine by H.G. Wells, which turned out to be a really short read and quite interesting.
- WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?
I just realized that I have actually read or at least started all the books I mentioned here last week! That has to be a first… On to four fresh titles this week it is! First up is another ARC: Housebroken by The Behrg. I haven’t read a good horror story in too long, so I’m really looking forward to it. I also want to read Out Of The Easy by Ruta Sepetys, but I’m probably going to read A Court Of Mist And Fury by Sarah J. Maas first since I’m not sure how much longer I am going to be able to resist the temptation. 😉 My new TBR jar pick is The Opposite Of Loneliness by Marina Keegan.
Lots of interesting books here, you certainly have been busy 🙂

The read-a-thon sure helped me finish a lot of books since last week… And quite a few good ones as well. 🙂

So jealous you’ll be getting to A Court of Mist and Fury soon. I want to read it asap but I have things I requested from Netgalley to get to first (I made the mistake of requesting a few because I never dreamed I’d get approved for them all!). I’ve only seen rave reviews so far and Rhysand was one of my favourite characters in ACOTAR so I’m looking forward to more of him 🙂

I got a copy of A Court Of Mist And Fury last week, but wanted to save it until after the read-a-thon… And I should finish both pending ARC’s first, but I don’t think I can resist temptation much longer haha. And I think the main reason I have been staying away from Netgalley is that I know myself too well and I will probably request way more books than I can handle. 😉 I hope you will be able to get to it soon!

Glad you liked Leaving Time, although not perfect. Have you read The Storyteller? That’s my favourite one so far!
I have Dumplin’ on my TBR too, although I don’t think I’ll be reading that anytime soon 🙂

The Storyteller is the only other Jodi Picoult I’ve read so far, but it’s definitely my favorite as well. And I’ve heard a lot of mixed things about Dumplin’, so you might end up enjoying it a lot better than I did…

Is it bad that I kind of want to read Tyler Oakley’s book just because of the cover? Lol. I’m reading ACOMAF right now and I love it! The Opposite of Loneliness has been on my tbr for a while now. I should probably read that soon. Here’s my post. 🙂

I sort of did the same thing with Binge, so I guess the cover does its magic. 😉 It’s a really entertaining read as well even though I hadn’t heard of him previously… And I’m glad you are enjoying ACOMAF! I can’t wait to finally read it myself.

I’m sorry you didn’t like Dumplin’. I’ve read it last year and I actually enjoyed it. 😦 See How They Run is also on my TBR and I’m quite excited to read it! 🙂

I know a lot of people did enjoy Dumplin’, so I’m glad you enjoyed it as well! I guess it’s just one of those unpopular opinion things again. See How They Run is definitely worth reading even though it ends with a really painful cliffhanger; the story is almost as good as the first book!

Oh I hate cliffhangers. But it builds up anticipation for the next book!!

I have a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers depending on how they end a story… In the case of See How They Run I wasn’t too mad about it, although it does make the 2017 publish date feel like a long long time to wait. 😉

I’m going to be reading Out of the Easy soon too. I borrowed it from my library and am so excited to get to it.

It sounds like such a great read!; Ruta Sepetys sure is a talented author and I can’t wait to read another of her books. I hope you will enjoy it as well!

That’s a lot of books read and we’ll done for actually managing your reading next list 🙂 I don’t think I’ll ever manage that.

Haha it was a first for me as well! I find it hard to stick to TBR’s since I have to be in the mood for a book… But I guess this time I guessed right. 😉

I’ve had ‘Out of the Easy’ on my list for a while but I have yet to read it. I own another of her books that I’ll likely get to first. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

I read Between Shades Of Gray last year and it was really good, so I’m looking forward to read another of her books. Salt To The Sea is high on my list as well, but I still have to get a copy first. Happy reading and thanks for hosting!

One day I’m going to organise myself so I can take a week off for Bout of Books and participate. It sounds divine! I really need to get my hands on a copy of Stars Above… but the ebook is quite expensive over here and my library doesn’t seem to have ordered it. 😦

I hope you’ll find time some day; there’s another one in August… 😉 What I love about Bout Of Books is that it’s low pressure and you can make your own goals.
I enjoyed Stars Above, but to be honest it’s not worth it if it’s expensive. The only truly interesting story is the epilogue Something Old, Something New, so I would definitely wait to see if your library orders it later on.

I’m super excited about ACoMaF but I need to get through my other library books before I will let myself go request it. And there are some other books I ‘should’ read before it, but, like you said, temptation is strong.
Once again, good luck on everything you read during Bout of Books!

I know your pain; I should read some other titles first as well, but I’m probably picking up ACOMAF as soon as I finish the ARC I’m currently reading.

The Reader On The 6.27 is on my wishlist since you mentioned it earlier, and your comment on it makes me even more curious about it. Everyone is talking about ACOMAF, I am sure I’ll cave in soon and get the first book soon. Dumplin’ is on my wishlist too, but the mixed reviews are keeping me on the fence.
Happy reading! 🙂

The Reader On The 6.27 is definitely worth reading! It’s mostly literary fiction with a dash of Fahrenheit 451 and many random pages of random books being read on the train, but in the best possible way. A Court Of Thorns And Roses is definitely recommended!
