I’ve finally been able to start one of my pending ARCs, The Munich Girl by Phyllis Edgerly Ring. I already knew I was most likely going to enjoy this book since I love just about every historical fiction read set during WWII, but this story is turning out to be particularly interesting. I love that this book talks about the role of women during the war; something that isn’t being written about often enough. (In fact, the only other title I can recall straight away is The Nightingale.) Hopefully the story stays this interesting!

So far it is definitely worth reading! It’s an interesting mix of contemporary and historical fiction where Anna slowly finds out more about her mother’s history (both her time during WWII and connection to Eva Braun).

I’ve always been wary of any kind of historical fiction for some reason. I really should get over it and this sounds like it could be my kind of read.

I agree some historical fiction reads can be a bit intimidating… The good thing of this one is that it mixes contemporary scenes with those set during WWII, and it’s definitely an ‘easy’ and intriguing read so far. 🙂

Haven’t heard of this one but it sounds like not something I would read, but definitely interesting. I’m working on getting out of my comfort zone (meaning the genres: YA Contemporary, Mystery, Dystopia/Apocalyptic) so I might get this one or at least something similar? Great teaser!

I can definitely relate to that! I have my favorite genres as well and normally read mostly mystery/thriller, YA contemporary or fantasy… I do love historical fiction, but I also try to get out of my comfort zone by reading different genres every once in a while. The Munich Girl is an interesting choice for historical fiction though, because it mixes that genre with contemporary (romance) scenes. It’s definitely not as ‘dense’ as some historical fiction novels I’ve read in the past…
