I have WAY too many books waiting for me on my TBR shelf, so I started making a monthly TBR to help me decide what to read next. July turned out to be a great month and I was able to read 9! out of 10 titles on the list. And the only reason I didn’t read the last title (The Problem With Forever) because I saw some negative reviews and I wasn’t sure that book would be for me after all…
Since I will be traveling to the Netherlands this August 14th for paperwork and I have no idea when I will be back home (weeks, months??), I have decided to do things differently and make a list of books I would like to read while I’m on a blogging hiatus. (Of course I will still review these books when I’m back!)

A Court Of Mist And Fury by Sarah J. Maas (640 pages)
I really enjoyed the first book last year and need to read the sequel! I will probably have to reread ACOTAR first though, because I can’t seem to remember all the details when I tried reading this one a while ago.
A Dance With Dragons by George R.R. Martin (1.125 pages)
I just checked, and it has been more than TWO years since I finished A Feast For Crows. I know George R.R. Martin is particularly slow when it comes to publishing his books anyway, but I guess it’s about time I tackle this monster. A Dance With Dragons will be my priority read while I’m away!
Fallen Mangrove by Wayne Stinnett (301 pages)
I want to read this one mostly because of the setting in 1566; I still need a book set in the 16th century for the When Are You Reading? Challenge and I don’t have any other titles on my TBR pile.
Ink And Bone by Rachel Caine (352 pages)
I have been wanting to start this series ever since I first heard about it! I also have a copy of the sequel, so if I like this one I will probably read the sequel as well. It sure sounds like a great read to me.
La Sombra Del Viento by Carlos Ruiz Zafón (576 pages)
This book is probably one of my all time favorites and I have been wanting to reread it in Spanish for ages now… I also finally want to read the sequels, so it’s a great excuse to pick this one up again.
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (896 pages)
To be honest, I’m not sure if this book would be for me and it’s HUGE. Still, I have been wanting to give this series a go for ages and I need it for the 18th century setting in the When Are You Reading? Challenge, so this hiatus is a great excuse to spend some time with this book.
Red Rising Trilogy by Pierce Brown (382 + 430 + 523 pages)
I NEED to read this series ASAP! I’ve heard so many great things about it and it sounds exactly like a story I would love. No more excuses: I will pick up these three books.
Secret Letters by Leah Scheier (336 pages)
This is my newest TBR jar pick and probably the last one until I’m back (unless I finish it before I leave and pick another one). I like Sherlock Holmes retellings so I’m keeping my fingers crossed this one will be good!
The Art Of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson (353 pages)
I’ve heard great things about this book and can’t wait to read it myself! I hope it will live up to the raving reviews…
This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab (464 pages)
I actually wanted to read Vicious first, but I’ve heard so many great things about this one that I just can’t resist the temptation. I will definitely read This Savage Song first now, but I also want to try and read Vicious soon as well…
Have you read any of these and/or do you recommend them?
I’m really interested to hear your thoughts on Outlander and This Savage Song, as both have been on my TBR for quite some time.
I’ve never read anything by Sarah J. Maas… is there one of her books you would recommend starting with?

I can’t wait to read both (and especially This Savage Song)! And if I have to decide between the first book of both Sarah J. Maas series, I think I like A Court Of Thorns And Roses better because of the worldbuilding and lack of love triangle. I haven’t read the second book yet though, and the Throne Of Glass sequels (especially book two and three) are excellent.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed the lack of internet distraction will help me finally read these… Red Rising and ACOMAF are on the top of my list though.

I’ve just finished ACOMAF and it is AMAZING. If you liked ACOTAR, then you should love this – it genuinely is about 100x better in nearly every way. I’d really like to read Red Rising, too. I’ve heard many a good thing about that series!

Fantastic reading month! I actually did read The Problem with Forever and enjoyed it. I’m not one for YA contemporaries, but thought the author did a good job tackling hard topics but in an appropriate way for a YA book… What did the reviews about it say?
The Outlander series is well worth the time and effort you will put into reading them!

I’m glad you did like The Problem With Forever! I don’t remember exactly what the reviews said other than that they didn’t like the main character and complaints about the romance/love triangle. I will probably still give it a go some time though, especially since I already have a copy. And I can’t wait to finally read Outlander. Happy reading!

ACOMAF and This Savage song are both incredible. Just a suggestion, maybe read Vicious first. Because it’s one of Schwab’s best books! Also, I didn’t enjoy Outlandet that much but I hope you like it! 🙂

I will definitely keep that in mind, especially since I want to read both books in the first place. Schwab is easily one of my new favorite authors. And I’m not sure I will actually like Outlander (since a few bloggers with similar taste also didn’t like it), but I’m going to give it a try anyway. The book is huge though!
