July was probably one of the best reading months so far this year, and I’m still surprised I was able to read this much since I’m still busy with preparations for my trip. I guess finally signing up for Netgalley was a great idea, because no less than 7 books were Netgalley reads in July. The cold weather did help a lot as well. 😉 I don’t think I won’t be reading that many books before I leave this August 14th though… And I will be going on a hiatus starting that date as well. (Although I will probably still update my Goodreads account with the books I will be reading). I’m not particularly looking forward to the paperwork, but I AM happy to escape the last of the cold weather down here in Argentina haha.
- Number of books read in July: 21
- Total number of books read this year: 114 (+1 reread)
- Total number of pages read in July: 6.470
- Total number of pages read this year: 35.479
July was an excellent month when it comes to ratings with one new 5 star rating and eleven! other titles with 4 stars or more. Sure, four books were a bit disappointing but the good reads definitely made up for it.
5 STARS: Absolutely and entirely mind blowing! I suggest you to pick up a copy now.
The Summer That Melted Everything – by Tiffany McDaniel
4.5 STARS: This one was almost perfect. Surely fantastic!
Cascadia – by H.W. “Buzz” Bernard // Out Of The Easy – by Ruta Sepetys // The Night Stalker – by Robert Bryndza // The Girl With All The Gifts – by M.R. Carey // The Fire Child – by S.K. Tremayne
4 STARS: Wow, this was really good. Close to amazing!
My Girl – by Jack Jordan // Everything, Everything – by Nicola Yoon // The Sister – by Louise Jensen // The Ice Twins – by S.K. Tremayne // Rot & Ruin – by Jonathan Maberry // When We Collided – by Emery Lord
3.5 STARS: Great read. Really entertaining!
Last To Die – by Arlene Hunt // Wanderlost – by Jen Malone // Ruler Of Beasts – by Danielle Paige // Environmentally Friendly – by Elias Zanbaka
3 STARS: It was a nice read, but not fantastic.
The Straw King – by Danielle Paige
2.5 STARS: I give this one the benefit of the doubt. Nothing too exciting.
As Red As Blood – by Salla Simukka // The Stepmother – by Claire Seeber
2 STARS: It was ok. But mostly ‘meh’.
The Neverland Wars – by Audrey Greathouse // The Hired Girl – by Laura Amy Schlitz
In 2016 I initially decided to join in total four yearly challenges. And I finally managed to finish the first one this month! I did decide to update my Goodreads Challenge to 150 books though. Still enormous, but I might actually be able to bring it down to 200 by the end of the year! I’ve also finally been able to pick up my running, so hopefully I will be able to at least add a km or two in the next two months.

I’m definitely glad I finally signed up! 21 books is definitely an exception though, and I was lucky a lot of them were either short or quick reads. 😉

wow, you definitely did have a great reading month. 21 books is pretty impressive and it seems like most of the books were also wonderful reads. Congratulations. I hope that August will also be a great month for you.

Thanks! I’m going to try and read some big ones this month (and September as well), so I guess my numbers won’t be that high next time. 😉 A lot of books I read in July were either short or quick reads…

My jaw dropped when I saw that you read 21 books in July!!! That is amazing!!! I am very jealous of your reading skills!
I am currently reading The Summer That Melted Everything, and hope it’s a 5 star read for me as well!

I also read The Sister. I loved it! I’m about to get started on The Summer That Melted Everything. I haven’t read a single blog review that wasn’t 5 stars. That’s always good. 🙂

I’m glad you enjoyed The Sister as well! And I hope you will enjoy The Summer That Melted Everything just as much as everyone seems to be doing. 🙂

21 books. How do you do it? I’m jealous, haha. I also had issues with The Stepmother, that’s why my review is still being written. I think my expectations were too high.

Haha to be honest I don’t know myself either… But I guess I was lucky enough to have a lot of either short or quick reads. I had a hard time writing my review for The Stepmother as well; the blurb sounded really good, but the actual story just didn’t live up to it.

21 books!? And I thought 16 was a lot. Wow that’s amazing. I envy your ability to fit so many books and reviews into one month. I wish I could do that. 🙈

21 is definitely an exception though! I normally don’t reach these numbers, but I guess I was lucky to have a lot of spare time (and awful weather) in July. 16 is an awesome amount of books. 🙂

It’s definitely something that doesn’t happen often, although quite a few of these were either short or quick reads.

Wow, that’s a huge month of reading! I feel like such a sloth reading you post! NetGalley is great! I love how it makes it so easy to keep track of your TBR and the pub. dates, and streamlines the whole requesting process. Good luck with all your other goals, esp. the running. I used to HATE running, but once I cracked 5k, it became so much easier and more enjoyable.

I love my Netgalley experience so far! It’s been hard to resist requesting a lot of new books, but I like not having too much ARC pressure 😉 And I can’t wait to properly start training again; speedwalking is becoming ‘boring’ and I’m starting to enjoy running more and more… I’m still keeping my fingers crossed I will reach the 5k before the end of the year!
