WWW WEDNESDAYS is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words and is all about answering the three questions below.
- WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?
I’m currently reading two Netgalley ARCs, depending on the genre I’m in the mood for. The first is the thriller The Killing Game by J.S. Carol, which I actually should have read two months ago and it’s about time I finally picked it up… And the other title is A Gentleman In Moscow by Amor Towles, a historical fiction story set in the Russia of the 1920s and a very enjoyable read so far. I’ve also read the first few pages of The Song Of Achilles by Madeline Miller, and I’m definitely looking forward to continue it as soon as I finish my current ARCs. And I’ve decided not to mention my current audiobook (Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison) anymore until I actually make progress again. 😉
- WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
* The first book I finished since last week is The Truth Will Out by Brian Cleary, an ARC that has been on my TBR for way too long. And wow, what a disturbing and messed up story! This crime thriller is set in Ireland and the plot is without doubt intriguing. On top of that it’s well written, full of twists and without doubt a gripping story in general.
* I then read The Light That Gets Lost by Natasha Carthew, which I had picked up on a whim after browsing my kindle. I should have checked goodreads first instead, because I can definitely understand the very low rating now… I had a REALLY hard time reading this story and was close to DNFing it more than once. I had a strong dislike for the prose and the story simply didn’t make sense at all. I guess I was as lost as the light in the title…
* To make up for the previous read (and also because I finally finished the Rebel Of The Sands review) I continued with Traitor To The Throne by Alwyn Hamilton. And this series is definitely one of my new favorite fantasy series! I enjoyed this sequel just as much or even better than the first book, and it will be a long long wait for the last book. The writing, the plot, the characters, the magic… Everything just works.
* The last book I finished is The Paris Mysteries by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro as part of my promise to start finishing more series. I enjoyed the first book of this series last year, but the books are steadily declining in quality. This third book was actually quite a struggle. I don’t think I would have finished it if it wouldn’t have been for the superfast pace… Because between the extremely annoying main character, sappy romance scenes and general blah I had a hard time finishing this story. It makes me really worried about the final book…
- WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?
I’m trying to tackle the mountain of pending ARCs that are waiting for me, so I have the following three lined up: I Found You by Lisa Jewell, Silence Under Screams by Collin Henderson and The Last Gods of Indochine by Samuel Ferrer. I also want to read both Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken as part of my promise to start finishing more pending series.
You can also find me at Goodreads. Twitter. Instagram. Bloglovin’.
I hope that you will like The Killing Game as much as I did. It was one of my favourite books of 2016. I also intend to read I Found You next. Looking forward to your reviews. Happy reading.

I just finished it and it was SO good! Definitely a very twisted read and I didn’t see that ending coming at all. I had a feeling JJ/Jody was going to be important since she was one of the narrators, but I wasn’t expecting THAT. I hope you will enjoy I Found You and happy reading!

A friend provided me a copy of The Killing Game but haven’t had the time to read it until now. Looking forward to see what you think of it. I also have The Song of Achilles but then again, there’s just too many books to read and too little time. Haha.

The Killing Game was such a twisted (but good) read! I’m a bit ashamed it took me this long to finally read it… And I have been wanting to read The Song Of Achilles for ages, but like you said too many books and too little time. xD

Yay! I think I’m moving up The Killing Game to the top of my TBR list now. 🙂

I’m so looking forward to reading The Killing Game! I’ve decided that after the hectic month March is gonna be, I’m taking April to tackle the remaining ARCs and relax with the TBR. (Sounds familiar, right? I’m pretty sure I said that more than once ….) I can’t wait to read your thoughts on Achilles! I Found You is on my list this week! I’m trying to tackle the four ARCs needing reviewing in March to focus on the month’s project for the rest of the time! Happy reading!

Haha I totally know that feeling! I somehow ended up with TEN!! pending ARCs in March plus three others I should really read as well… I’m not sure how I’m going to achieve that haha. Good luck with your ARCs! Fingers crossed mine will give me a break long enough to at least finish Achilles. 😉

A Gentleman in Moscow sounds fascinating. I’m always on the lookout for new historical fictions. And of course I still need to get to A Song of Achilles!
I haven’t read Bracken or Hamilton yet, but TBR permitting, I hope to at least start their series this year…
Happy Reading 🙂

So far I can definitely recommend A Gentleman In Moscow! I really like the writing style, it has interesting characters and the 1920s Russian setting is refreshing. Happy reading!

I’ll be interested to hear what you think of A Gentleman in Moscow as I have a way overdue ARC I really should be reading. Glad to hear you loved Traitor to the Throne as much as I did although how are we supposed to wait for the next one 😀

I’m not that far into A Gentleman In Moscow but so far it’s really good! Definitely worth reading. And I’m glad I finally read the first two Rebel Of The Sands books even though I now have to wait for the third book… They were definitely worth it. 😀

I see posts like yours and realize that I don’t read enough! I used to be able to read several books at a time, but it’s really hard nowadays. So many things get me too distracted.
Here’s my post for the week. Happy reading!

Basically the only way I can read more than one book at the same time is if they are completely different genres… If not there’s a 99% chance I will get the plots confused. 😉 Happy reading!

I have gotten plots confused before. Many times. And then had to start over reading to figure out where I got lost. I blame a hectic and stressful schedule. That’s why I keep reading simple for now. 🙂

I totally agree that Traitor to the Throne was even better! I’m looking forward to seeing how it all concludes now. I’m trying to work through more of my ARCs, too, though everyone is reading a Conjuring of Light without me, so I feel like I should be buying that next.

I can’t wait to read the third Rebel book either… I’m glad the ending of Traitor To The Throne wasn’t that big of a cliffhanger at least. And I need to get a copy of A Conjuring Of Light ASAP as well! I’m worried the ending might get spoiled otherwise…

I really enjoyed The Killing Game. I loved how it looked at both the event and the surrounding interested parties (especially the media and the public.) I hope you enjoy 😊

Same here! I really liked how you were able to experience both sides of the events and it was a lot of ‘fun’ to read. Such a twisted situation and I definitely didn’t see the ending coming!

Omg, the end. I was shocked too.
