WWW WEDNESDAYS is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words and is all about answering the three questions below.
- WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?
Words cannot describe how excited I am to be reading the newest Erika Foster novel! Last Breath was literally only posted at Netgalley yesterday and I decided to put my other pending ARCs on hold and read this one first shortly after my request was approved. So far it looks like Robert Bryndza has written another winner! 😀 I’ve also started with Bull by David Elliott, but somehow reading on my phone feels a bit awkward… It does sound like an intriguing read though.
- WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
* First up is The Missing Ones by Patricia Gibney, a psychological thriller ARC that is due to be published tomorrow. I had high hopes for this one as I’ve heard a lot of great things about it, and I have now joined the fan-crew. Well written, intriguing and complex plot, interesting characters and some very disturbing details and plot twists! I loved the flashbacks and little Rome bits as well. (Me and the Santa Maria Maggiore have a little history so my heart skipped a beat when it was mentioned!)
* I then read The Last Gods Of Indochine by Samuel Ferrer, a historical fiction ARC that was way overdue. I’m glad I finally had the chance to give it a go, because it was without doubt a very very intriguing story. This novel is set in Cambodia and has two different storylines: one set in the 1920s and one in the 13th century. While it took me a some time to connect to the main character Jacquie, I was instantly charmed by the story of Paaku the Lotus-Born. Well written, great plot and fascinating read in general.
* And just as I thought it couldn’t get better, I decided to pick up Goodbye Days by Jeff Zentner. I loved his other novel The Serpent King and this one has been one of my most anticipated releases ever since… And I think I have just found my new favorite Zentner story. Basically, this story took my feelings, put them on the middle of the road and ran them over repeatedly with a bulldozer. It doesn’t happen often that a book managed to make me cry, but Goodbye Days was one of them. Brilliant prose, excellent characters and those feels!! I think Carver just made my heart break a little.
- WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?
Next up are two ARCs… I’m still hopelessly behind with them, but I’m slowly getting there. First is The First City by Joe Hart, the final book of a trilogy that is hopefully going to keep improving. I also need to read the horror story Silence Under Screams by Collin Henderson. Which might be a nice change of genre and just what I needed. And remember I was saying I was going to read A Conjuring Of Light next? I guess I was wrong. xD I’ve been dying to read it though, so I might just give myself an (early) birthday present and read it first. I also need to read another pending ARC: Rose Petal Graves by Olivia Wildenstein…
You can also find me at Goodreads. Twitter. Instagram. Bloglovin’.
I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed The Missing Ones. I need to read it soon but I have been stalling because I hear its really long. I can’t wait to read it soon though.
You were fast with Bryndza’s newest lol. I just got the book last night though I may read it closer to publication date. I can’t wiat to hear your thoughts about it though. It sounds like it started off really well though.
Happy reading!

It’s a bit longer than your usual psychological thriller, but I personally didn’t mind since the story offered different storylines and a lot of plot twists. I hope you will enjoy it! And I’ve been following the Erika Foster series closely, so when I heard a popular new title was going to go on NG I followed Twitter closely and requested it the minute it appeared. 😉 So far I’m having the feeling it’s going to be the best one yet!

I managed to snag an ARC of Last Breath yesterday too but I really need to finish my current read first 😣 My current read is ACOL so can’t really complain too much. Glad to hear you’re enjoying it so far.

Yay! Last Breath is great so far, but I definitely wouldn’t complain reading ACOL either. I’m hoping to start that beauty this weekend! 😀 And I hope you will enjoy both books as well!

Haha am I that predictable? 😛 I just couldn’t resist when I saw bookouture announcing a new popular title coming up and requested it as soon as it appeared on NG. With the pace he is publishing books, it’s REALLY easy to fall behind though. xD

Ohhh the never ending arc TBR 😫 I know the feeling lol, I have a terrible trigger finger that requests on site & thinks later lmao! You have some good picks & I can understand the want to read ACOL! I held off on reading AGOS while waiting for news of ACOL. Now ACOL is out & I just don’t have the time 🙈lol. Happy reading! 😃

Do we share the same finger?! Haha I’ve been terrible requesting new titles even though I have plenty pending… It’s a miracle I even made it to the 80% again. xD
And I have been wanting to read ACOL ever since I finished AGOS last year, and now I have a copy there are just so many ARCs I should read instead… Not sure how long I will be able to resist though. 😉 Happy reading!

Then we are in the exact same predicament! 😂😂😂 although I haven’t been able to get to 80% & that’s even with me steadily reviewing. I’ve just been approved for a bit much. Every time I hit the 70% mark I get approved for more 😂 I constantly get tempted to read from my actual shelf but the arcs have expiration dates 🙈🤣🙈 so I feel ya! Happy reading 😃💕

It always happens to me that when I reach a certain ratio suddenly old request are starting to come through… I love getting ARCs but my shelves are definitely being neglected because of it. xD Happy reading!

I have a huge ARC backlog. I wish there was a video or little tutorial that explained how NetGalley worked right after you sign up that you’re required to watch. I don’t know if I can ever overcome my requests, so look at you go! Whoot! Happy reading!

I guess I was lucky to start late and a lot of bloggers gave me advice before I actually signed up… So I managed to keep my requesting somewhat controlled when I first signed up. I agree such video should probably be obligatory, because it’s really hard to resist requesting a lot of books at once (especially when you first sign up): Good luck with yours!

I’m so glad to see you loved Goodbye Days so much. I still haven’t read Zentner’s other book, but both are on my TBR. I really need to get around to reading them since I keep seeing tons of good things about his writing.

I can definitely recommend both of his books! After finishing Goodbye Days, he has definitely earned a spot on my auto-buy list. 😀

I’m 99% sure I will start ACOL tonight; especially since I’m not enjoying my current read. 😉 And what better auto-gift than reading a Shades Of Magic book on my birthday tomorrow?! 😀
