Somehow we’re already into the fifth month of 2017… Time is seriously flying by way too fast; it seems like only yesterday we adopted little Delilah Bard (Lila) and she is HUGE now. Unfortunately what hasn’t changed is my other cat Jasmine’s attitude towards her; they still don’t get along and Jasmine is also still mad at me for bringing another cat into HER home. xD Fingers crossed things will go better with a little more time… Especially since she is a very grumpy cat in the first place. Pet photo spam ahead:
Bookish wise it was a great month and the ARCish Readathon was a big success. I managed to read 18 titles in April and no less than 14 of them were ARCs. I’ve also been able to keep up with my pending reviews for the second month in a row, which I’m very VERY happy about. Yay for no more stressing about the huge backlog of reviews! I’ve been having lots of fun with my bookstagram account as well in April… Bookstagram is just so addicting with all those gorgeous bookish photos out there! Find the favorite photos of my own bookstagram account below.
As for the bookish numbers:
- Number of books read in April: 18 (1 reread)
- Total number of books read this year: 68
- Total number of pages read in April: 5.673
- Total number of pages read this year: 22.725
April was a great month in general and I even managed to have another TWO new 5 star ratings (The Perfect Stranger technically doesn’t count since it was a reread)! And only five books were three stars or below, so I’m not complaining.
5 STARS: Absolutely and entirely mind blowing! I suggest you to pick up a copy now.
The Perfect Stranger – by Megan Miranda REREAD // Castle Of Water – by Dane Huckelbridge // Small Great Things – by Jodi Picoult
4.5 STARS: This one was almost perfect. Surely fantastic!
Sleep Tight – by Caroline Mitchell // The Millionaire’s Wife – by Shalini Boland
4 STARS: Wow, this was really good. Close to amazing!
Blood Moon – by John David Bethel // The Red Hunter – by Lisa Unger // This Is Really Happening – by Erin Chack
3.5 STARS: Great read. Really entertaining!
The Start Of Me And You – by Emery Lord // Life Sentence – by Lily Luchesi // Among Friends – by Heather Murray // Ginny Moon – by Benjamin Ludwig // Riven by Belinda Crawford
3 STARS: It was a nice read, but not fantastic.
The Color Purple – by Alice Walker // Miranda’s Rights – by Lily Luchesi // Never Fade – by Alexandra Bracken // What Doesn’t Kill You – by Ed James
2 STARS: It was ok. But mostly ‘meh’.
The Car Bomb – by T.V. LoCicero
Somehow I have joined way more challenges than usual this year, but at least I’ve already made a lot of progress with most of them so far. I should really start working on both my Reading Through The Centuries and Beat The Backlist challenge again; although it will probably have to wait until next month.
# CHALLENGES #
- Goodreads 2017 Reading Challenge: 68/100
- Reading Through The Centuries: 1/10
- 2017 Netgalley & Edelweiss Reading Challenge: 34 Netgalley ARCs and 12 other ARCs

- 2017 Author ABC Challenge: 22/26
- Hooked To Books Challenge: 68/120
As for my other goals…I managed to maintain my Netgalley ratio above 80%, read a classic and reread a book, which I’m pretty happy about. I haven’t done much about the other goals though, but I’m hoping to read at least one classic and hopefully a Dutch/Spanish book in May…

What a great reading month Yvo! You’re right, Lila is so big since you first showed her picture. AS I said I love cats and she’s so cute…those ears! I do hope your other cat and her become friends though:)

I can’t believe she is growing up so fast, but then again she was tiny when we first got her… I’m still keeping my fingers crossed Jasmine will come around in the next few months; right now my dog is actually getting along better with Lila than she is. xD

Awesome month!! Don’t worry, your cat will eventually come around and be okay with the kitty. My cat hated when I brought a new kitty into the house (which is almost a year ago), but she came around and now she tolerates her. Even sometimes acts like she likes her. Lol. 🙂

That’s good to hear; it definitely gives me hope for these two. She already tolerates her slightly more than before, so I hope things will improve further when Lila grows up a bit. Cats are funny creatures haha.

Wow April was indeed very good! We can be proud of sticking with ARCs (even if mine weren’t NG so they don’t count in my ratio and I currently have 4 reviews to write xD)
I was advised to adopt another dog to help mine, who had been separated too soon from her mother, but it never worked and they don’t get along much. Well, my baby still looks out for her baby sister and defends her against other dogs (she was attacked recently) but they don’t cuddle 😦

Yay for sticking with ARCs! More than half of mine weren’t NG either. 😉
And that’s too bad! At least she still looks out for her though. I hoped for my pets to get along quickly, but Jasmine has a VERY special personality. xD Lila is actually getting along better with my dog, mostly because they have a similar (read destructive and super-dominant) personality and enjoy play-fighting each other. xD

Let’s just say pet TV is mostly more entertaining than the real deal. 😉

Wow!! Such an amazing month of reading! And your pets are so freaking adorable! When we adopted our second cat it took them months for them to get along and sometimes they still don’t years later haha.

That definitely gives me hope for the future though! Jasmine is quite grumpy and didn’t even get along well with her own kittens, so I’m not surprised by how she is reacting to Lila at all. xD

18 books a month 😱 I’m going to die of shame , I just managed 1 book and 10 comics all of April 😰

That’s still a good number though! 🙂

I’m sitting here impressed by the 18 books read and the 82% reading ratio!!!! EPIC! you are my #GOALS! lol I was actually contemplating reading Red Hunter next & you just may have helped me make up my mind 😉 glad you enjoyed that one. I actually have a copy of Small Great Things, hoping to get to it soon. You have a lovely Bookstagram & I Love seeing the photos you post especially when the fur babies get in the mix lol. Happy reading in May 😉

Haha still don’t know how that happened though. 😉 The Red Hunter is definitely recommended! It started a bit slow but the rest of it definitely made up for that. Small Great Things is such a powerful read! And I love taking photos with my pets but the only one who seems to tolerate me seems to be Lila right now. Jasmine has her days, but it’s impossible for my dog to stay still long enough for a non-blurry photo. xD Happy reading!

Yessss! That makes me happy to have, I liked her previous book Ink and Bone (think that’s the title lol) so I quickly requested Red Hunter. I love seeing all the pets on a bookstagram, make my day 😃💕

Great reading goals for this month. I know it feels great to get through your backlog of reviews, I’ve been there myself.

Thanks! I always tend to procrastinate and do other stuff instead, so it definitely feels great to not have a pile of pending reviews waiting. 😉

Wow, busy month!
You’re right, bookstagram is incredibly addicting, I spend more time there than I care to admit. My account is still pretty recent as are my bookstagram experiments but I have had fun so far.
Just followed you. Hope you have a lovely weekend!

I still don’t know haha, especially since I had just started my account and my pictures aren’t exactly all that special. xD I love her blog though, and the bookstagram posts definitely help find new pretty accounts. 😀

There is some slight improvement, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed my cat will end up tolerating her new companion. 😉 And your progress is pretty impressive as well! 30 books though, wow… And I thought I had it bad at 17. xD Good luck with your ARCs and I hope you’ll have a great month! ❤

Thanks! ❤ Jasmine (the white one) has evolved from hissing and leaving to wrestling whenever she's in the mood, so I'm still having hope. She didn't tolerate her own kittens to play with her much either, so I can't say I'm surprised she doesn't Lila much haha.
