Ok, so this happened the other day. Somehow I have managed to reach the magical mark of 100 read books not even six full months into 2017!! I already knew I was probably going to reach the mark with time to spare after having read 194! books last year and 185! in 2015, but still… I can’t believe it is not even July yet and I had to renew my Goodreads challenge already.
Who doesn’t love the Goodreads stats page?! I’m shocked by just how many books have received either a 4 or 5 star rating this year… Normally I have way more books with a lower rating, so I’m definitely happy to see this stat every time I visit this page. Shows that I’ve been quite lucky with my reads this year I guess. Another fun fact: no less than 74 books were actually ARCs. I really have to read more of my own books in the second half of 2017!
I wasn’t sure how much I should increase my Goodreads challenge, but I’ve decided to not stress myself too much and change it into 175 books. Goodreads 2017 Reading Challenge; Take Two… Here we go!
Somehow I’m still 20 books ahead of schedule, so if I manage to keep up the same pace I will be ending up having to change it once again. xD I seriously don’t know how on earth I’ve been able to read this much so far haha.

Wow, you’re incredible! I like to think I’m a fast reader, yet I don’t think I’ll ever read over 100 (or ever close to that amount) in one year! Props to you!!

Aww thank you! I don’t know how I’m doing it either haha, although I’ve always been a fast reader… I think that reading so many books in English has increased my speed considerably as well; every time I try reading in Dutch or Spanish now it feels so s.l.o.w.wwww. xD

I deliberately set my target low this year with the aim of slowing down and reading bigger books but so far that hasn’t happened and I think I’m about 20 books ahead.
Like you I think I need to try and clear some of my ARCs so I can read some of my own books over the next 6 months.

I really want to read bigger books as well as some classics in the second half (the first being The Wise Man’s Fear and after that maybe Outlander); hopefully after I have most of my ARCs read I can finally get to them. 😉 You’re doing great with your challenge though, even though you haven’t read the books you wanted!

I usually hit my challenge. Last year read 98 but that was a fluke. Normally between 65-75 books a year. I try to do my own little read harder challenge. Where I read in certain categories every year. A Classic, a health book, a psychology, a biography, a Christian book, and always a book from a side that I don’t typically buy into. This year I read a few political books that I did not agree with most of what they were saying but I always want to try to see things from both sides.

That definitely a great way to diversify your reading challenge as well! I like reading books I normally wouldn’t pick up all that easily as well, although I personally cross the line with political books. I agree it’s interesting to read about both sides though!

Congrats! What an awesome reading achievement. I actually upped my challenge limit earlier this year since I was doing so well with reading so consistently. Even now, I’m still ahead of my challenge. I’ll be cheering for the both of us to meet our year reading goals. Good luck! 🙂

Congrats Yvonne. That is pretty impressive. Like you, I hope to read more of my own books from July. I still have 23 pending ARCs though I stopped borrowing from May so hopefully I will able to get through them without requesting for more. All the best with your reading goals.

I hate you. xD Nah, I’m happy I’m about to reach my goal of… don’t laugh… 50 before the end of June 🙂 and if things go as planned, I won’t have much time to read starting September so I’m gonna make the best of the summer!

Wow that’s amazing! I’m halfway through my challenge but it’s only for 80 books. I had to up it earlier this year and may increase again as I’m a few books ahead too. 😊

Dang girl! You are my reading hero lol I set my Goodreads goal to 90 books this year and I think I’m at 63? I would love to hit 100 books this year. It’s also awesome to see that not only are you reading such a big quantity of books, but they seem to be quality books to boot! I hope the second half of 2017 is just as good to you reading wise as the first half 🙂
