April BD #bookhaul

They are here! The main part of what I call my ‘useless old Dutch bank account made useful’ book haul… With a little help of a book fairy called Eva. πŸ˜‰ ❀ I already shared them on Instagram a few days ago, but I thought I would show my haul on my blog as well as it doesn’t happen often I’m able to get so many books in one go. πŸ˜‰

So far 16 out of the 20 ordered books have arrived… The four remaining titles are either already on its way as well or still waiting to be (re)published.

This haul also includes my giveaway prize I won on Twitter, hosted by the wonderful @sdavreads back in February. I could pick any 2019 contemporary romance title and I chose a preorder of The Boy Who Steals Houses. ❀

A full list of all 17 books with details below!

1. The Seven Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton. This was my 2018 favorite, so of course I had to have a copy for my shelves… I’m hoping to reread it some time in the future! REVIEW HERE

2. The Secret Diary Of Hendrik Groen by Hendrik Groen. I’ve been meaning to get a copy of this one for so long now and I’m definitely looking forward to finally read it.

3. 4. and 5. A Darker Shade Of Magic, A Gathering Of Shadows and A Conjuring Of Light by V.E. Schwab. Schwab is one of my absolute favorite authors so of course I needed to have physical copies of my favorite series written by her… Looking forward to reread the trilogy later this year. REVIEWS OF ADSOM, AGOS and ACOL

6. Twisted by Steve Cavanagh. I’ve been meaning to try his work for ages and even though I have an ARC of Thirteen pending, I might just read this one first…

7. Circe by Madeleine Miller. I absolutely loved The Song Of Achilles and was actually already planning to read this one on my kindle, but I couldn’t resist owning a gorgeous copy of it. Bronze metal shine all over. ❀ I’m hoping to start it in the next two weeks or so…

8. The Craftsman by Sharon Bolton. I’ve been meaning to read more of her work and I’ve heard great things about this story, so I’m excited to be reading this one soon.

9. The Puppet Show by M.W. Craven. Another series I’ve been meaning to get to, and I should probably hurry up to read it since the sequel is coming out soon. xD

10. A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman. Another all time favorite I wanted to have on my shelves… I love LOVE Ove and Backman’s writing in general. REVIEW HERE

11. The Boy Who Steals Houses by C.G. Drews. I LOVED her debut and I can’t wait to dive into this story… I probably have to stock up on the tissues first though.

12. – 17. @Orendabooks beauties! All six of these have been recommended to me multiple times and I’m so happy to finally have them on my shelves… I’m still deciding as to which one to pick up first as they all sound fantastic. ❀ From left to right in the *spoiler* Instagram photo that will be uploaded soon: Good Samaritans by Will Carver // Block 46 by Johana Gustawsson // Keeper by Johana Gustawsson // Six Stories by Matt Wesolowski // Changeling by Matt Wesolowski // Palm Beach Finland by Antti Tuomainen

Have you read any of these? Any title I should give priority to?Β

    • I’ve decided to let Delilah Bard pick my first Orenda title, and she chose Six Stories (maybe because her food bowl was closest). xD I can’t wait to read another Sharon Bolton! The Craftsman sounds so good.

  1. Oh you! You gave me a craving as well! I spent two days thinking ang going back to a site to order. I spent half a day searching for my visa card, was panicking already but found it, tried to pay 3 times but was rejected every time. Realised it was an old visa, found my new card in the same place, paid and then found out these books didn’t ship internationally. Bottom line: do not place an order with The Book People. Two of the three books I wanted to order were Twisted and The Puppet Show. I’d go with these. Please tell me to just leave them πŸ˜„

    • Oh dear that’s a lot of trouble for nothing! I only stick with Book Depository for ordering books as international shipping otherwise is either super expensive or like in your case non-existent… Last time I checked BD had Twisted and The Puppet Show in stock. πŸ˜‰ I’ve heard mixed things about the first, but I only remember good reviews on The Puppet Show.

      • Oh that’s even worse! I hate false advertising… It’s not even useful here because if you can’t ship it to your country, you won’t order in the end anyway. I’m sure being in Belgium would give you more options than Argentina, but as BD seems to be sending their books rather fast and they actually arrive without problems or extra fees, I’m sticking with them. πŸ˜‰

  2. I hadn’t even noticed The Craftsman in your haul! I love Sharon Bolton! Happy reading Yvo! With such great books and Delilah Bard back I can imagine you’ll be having a great time πŸ˜ŠπŸ€—

    • I can’t wait to finally read Good Samaritans! And I’m thinking of a reread of A Man Called Ove as it’s been too long and I love his character.

  3. Nice haul!!

I’ve never seen that cover for The Seven Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle…. I must admit, I think I like the black cover more.

I LOVE those editions of ADSoM trilogy! I own the second book in that version (because it was my favorite), but also have the hardback editions of the entire series.

I need to buy a copy of Circe! I’m keeping my hopes up that it will show up on Book Outlet lol

    • Thanks! I have to order from Book Depository because shipping is way expensive otherwise, and since they are based in the UK, the UK covers are easier to get and a lot less expensive as well… The Evelyn Hardcastle cover is the UK one for example, and I do agree the US one is a lot more pleasant to the eye. πŸ˜‰ And I actually prefer the US hardback covers of the Shades Of Magic series as well, but I’m hoping to get those in the future without having to worry about shipping (since some books arrive with little dents and I would hate to have that happen to a hardback πŸ˜‰ )
I can’t wait to finally read Circe! After The Song Of Achilles I’m pretty sure I’ll love it. I wish I could order from Book Outlet as they have so many amazing deals! xD
