WWW WEDNESDAYS is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words and is all about answering the three questions below.
- WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?
I’m currently reading Flowers For The Dead by Barbara Copperthwaite, a serial killer story that is actually being republished today. I’ll also be starting A Song Of Isolation by Michael J. Malone as my blog tour stop is coming very close now… So many ARCs, so little time! xD
- WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
1. The Orphan Of Cemetery Hill by Hester Fox (3,5/5 stars) BLOG TOUR REVIEW 22/09
Look out for my thoughts during my stop of the blog tour!!
2. The Minders by John Marrs (5/5 stars) REVIEW 17/09
Speechless. Flabbergasted. Mind blown. Oh yes, John Marrs has done it once again and the holy guacamole is most definitely back!!! I know I might be a bit biased when it comes to his books; he’s easily one of my absolute favorite thriller authors and I’ve loved every single story I’ve tried so far… But there is no denying just how unique and original his stories are. The Minders is already the third book set in that same near future world with that sci-fi/dystopian feel, and it’s another fantastic story.
3. Who’s Next? by Chris Merritt (4/5 stars) REVIEW
I always have a weak spot for a good detective and serial killer thriller, so I’ve been curious about the Detectives Lockhart & Green series ever since I first saw the reviews of book one Knock Knock back in March. I couldn’t resist getting a copy of the sequel Who’s Next? on Netgalley as a way to make sure I was reading both sooner than later… I guess it worked, as I’ve now read both books and I’m definitely a fan.
4. Remember Me by Mario Escobar (3/5 stars) REVIEW 18/09
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad read, but it feels more like a summary of the historical events related to the Children of Morelia rather than a historical fiction novel with properly developed characters and emotions. While I feel sad that I wasn’t able to enjoy the story better, I’m still glad I read it for the things I learned about the Spanish Civil War alone though… So I guess Remember Me can go both ways for you depending on how much you care about properly developed and believable characters and/or if you prefer a focus on the historical details instead.
5. Love Among The Recipes by Carol M. Cram (2/5 stars) REVIEW 27/09
I love a food/travel element in my contemporaries so to have both in one book sounded like a match made in heaven… But somehow I ended up having mixed thoughts instead. While I loved the travel element with its many sights of Paris as well as it’s combination with the food and the whole cook/travel book idea, there were a lot of other things that simply didn’t do it for me. Sadly this included the main character Genna, the rickety pace and the romance (love triangle, or should I say square?) among other things… More in my review.
- WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?
I’ll most likely pick up Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover next as I need a little breather from thrillers as well as ARCs… Then it’s back to ARCs though with The Coast-To-Coast Murders by James Patterson & J.D. Barker and upcoming blog tour read Confessions On The 7:45 by Lisa Unger. I’m really excited about that one! Afterwards, I’ll probably finally pick up the dystopian A Boy And His Dog At The End Of The World by C.A. Fletcher.

I thought Flowers For the Dead was an old one, but was very confused when I saw the author promoting on her Bookstagram account this morning. I DNF’d a book with a love triangle last weekend as I finally realised at the halfway mark that nothing was going to change between the characters! xx

Flowers For The Dead is and older publication actually! It was first published in 2015 before she joined Bookouture (I think) and now it’s being republished with a new cover. Sorry to hear you had to DNF! I probably should have made the same decision with mine. xx

Oooh, The Minders looks great! I haven’t read John Marrs yet, I don’t think? But you’ve definitely sold me on that one! I totally want to read A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World, but I have a feeling it’s going to hurt my feels, so I’m avoiding it just a little. Looking forward to hearing what you think of it!

I want to read The Minders. I’m glad to see you liked it! I’ve also been debating about that CoHo book. She’s so hit or miss for me that I can never decide if I’m in the right mood for one of her books.

John Marrs writes such unique thrillers! He’s already written three books in the same near future high technology world and they are all brilliant. xx

I love a great love triangle but when done poorly it is just embarrassing to witness isn’t it? So many of your books look intriguing – I’m always so impressed when people are reading so many ARCs – I can’t even get my act together far enough to request them!

I’m not a big fan of love triangles myself to be honest… I can enjoy them if done right though, but that definitely wasn’t the case here sadly.
And reading ARCs is great, but I’ve overdone the whole requesting thing so I’ve been reading more than usual lately… I’m ready for a break soon. 😉 Happy reading! xx

I’ve only read What Lies Between Us by John Marrs, but I absolutely loved it. After reading such a positive review, I definitely need to check out The Minders!

If you enjoyed that one, I can recommend his other books too! The Minders is brilliant, and the other two set in the same world (The One and The Passengers) are excellent too.

I really can’t wait to read Heart Bones! I’m gathering Kindle Unlimited books and once I get enough I’m going to do my free trial. Most of CH books are on there and I’m excited about that one!

I really need more thrillers in my life! I hope you enjoy Heart Bones. I was hoping to read it this month, but that probably won’t happen. I’ll probably save it for November since I plan to hopefully read some spooky/Halloweenie books in October.
