I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that it is now officially 2021. Where did the time go?! Not that I’m not glad to see the end of 2020, but it’s just that I’m worried what new tricks 2021 will bring… The (allegedly) sun allergy is still going strong and a second opinion didn’t give me solutions at all, so I will have to find another dermatologist which isn’t all that easy with the whole COVID situation. Combined with my hubby having a nasty eye infection during the whole month of December, we’ve been spending the month mainly cooped up inside hiding from the sun and the heatwave. Vampire live much? xD Fingers crossed this new year will bring improvements though.

Next: the bookish numbers.

  • Number of books read in December: 24
  • Total number of books read in 2020: 257
  • Total number of pages read in December: 8.354
  • Total number of pages read in 2020: 88.069

My reading mojo is here to stay apparently, as I once again managed to read a LOT during December. I didn’t get another 5 star read, but I did manage to enjoy most of the books I read in the last month of the year. True, I did get a DNF and 7 books were 3 stars or below, but overall I can’t complain. The blogging slump is still very much there, but at least I’m able to read so that’s something I guess. xD

4.5 STARS: This one was almost perfect. Surely fantastic!

Marion Lane And The Midnight Murder – by T.A. Willberg // The Midnight Library – by Matt Haig // Force Of Nature – by Jane Harper // Heartbreak Bay – by Rachel Caine

4 STARS: Wow, this was really good. Close to amazing!

The Tourist Attraction – by Sarah Morgenthaler // The Craftsman – by Sharon Bolton // In A Holidaze – by Christina Lauren // Triptych – by Karin Slaughter // The Saturday Morning Park Run – by Jules Wake // Manhunters – by Steve Murphy & Javier F. Peña // The Island – by C.L. Taylor // The Chestnut Man – by Soren Sveistrup

3.5 STARS: Great read. Really entertaining!

The Thursday Murder Club – by Richard Osman // The Truth Pixie – by Matt Haig // The Gift Of Happiness – by Holly Martin // Red Canvas – by Andrew Nance // If Cats Disappeared From The World – by Genki Kawamura

3 STARS: It was a nice read, but not fantastic.

Incendiary – by Zoraida Cordova // The Elephant Vanishes – by Haruki Murakami // Rags Of Time – by Michael Ward // One To Watch – by Kate Stayman-London

2 STARS: It was ok. But mostly ‘meh’.

Us – by David Nicholls // Milk And Honey – by Rupi Kaur

0 STARS (DNF): I didn’t even bother to finish this one. Either horrible or definitely not for me!

Everything Is Illuminated – by Jonathan Safran Foer

Playing it safe with my challenges has definitely helped me completing them quite easily in 2020… Fingers crossed I can repeat this in 2021!

As for my other goals… I did manage to lower my ARC/backlist ratio a bit, although I already knew actually completing the goal would be hopeless. Fingers crossed this year will be better! I also knew I wasn’t going to be able to get a 800+ pages read in as I wasn’t in the mood for a huge read, and my TBR goal was hopeless too haha. I did manage to finish the series and TBR jar pick goal at least, so that’s something positive to end 2020 with!
