I still can’t believe we are now officially halfway through 2021! June has been quite uneventful to be honest. Winter has most definitely arrived and it’s quite cold right now, meaning lots of time cooped up inside with a book… Although I’ve been focusing on my new hobby painting quite a bit too lately. The blogging slump seems to be here to stay though sadly, which means I probably won’t be able to pick up the blogging pace again any time soon. Combine this with a promise to myself to focus on my health again, meaning even less time to blog, and the unofficial partial blogging break will be extended for a while longer. I do miss being around more though! ❤

Next: the bookish numbers.

  • Number of books read in June: 20
  • Total number of books read in 2021: 133
  • Total number of pages read in June: 7.958
  • Total number of pages read in 2021: 47.511

I managed to read more than expected during June, and although I did have six books with a 3 star rating or less, there were some new favorites too (plus a reread of an old favorite).

5 STARS: Absolutely and entirely mind blowing! I suggest you to pick up a copy now.

The First Girl Child – by Amy Harmon (REREAD)

4.5 STARS: This one was almost perfect. Surely fantastic!

Play Dead – by Angela Marsons // The Good Lie – by A.R. Torre // The Hollows – by Mark Edwards

4 STARS: Wow, this was really good. Close to amazing!

Float Plan – by Trish Doller // Sunshine Over Bluebell Castle – by Sarah Bennett // The Lucky Eight – by Sheila Bugler // People We Meet On Vacation – by Emily Henry // The Stand – by Stephen King // Broken Homes – by Ben Aaronovitch // The Beekeeper Of Aleppo – by Christy Lefteri // Las Onomatobellas – by Ruth Kaufman // The Castaways – by Lucy Clarke

3.5 STARS: Great read. Really entertaining!

Every Single Secret – by Emily Carpenter

3 STARS: It was a nice read, but not fantastic.

The Maidens – by Alex Michaelides // The Extraordinary Hope Of Dawn Brightside – by Jessica Ryn // The Right Side Of Reckless – by Whitney D. Grandison // Miss Graham’s Cold War Cookbook – by Celia Rees

2 STARS: It was ok. But mostly ‘meh’.

The Girl Behind The Wall – by Mandy Robotham // Love At First Fight – by Mary Jayne Baker

I ended up joining more challenges than planned this year, but I’m hoping to finish most without too much effort… And I managed to finish the Beat The Backlist goal of 80 books with six months to spare!

As for my other goals: my ARC ratio went up 0,5% again, but I guess that was expected with me trying to catch up with ARCs… I hope to get it below 40% again this month though. I also managed to finish both my Spanish goal and international authors/translation goal, which I’m really happy about. I’m still slacking with my Karin Slaughter goal, but that is mostly the fault of me discovering the DI Kim Stone books and preferring to catch up with that series instead. I’ve added a separate goal for the DI Kim Stone series so I will be able to complete at least one of the goals this year. 😉
