  • WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

I’m currently reading Darkness Falls by Robert Bryndza… I enjoyed the first two books of the series, so I’ve been looking forward to read this one. I’ll also be starting my final (gasp!) Netgalley ARC If This Gets Out by Sophie Gonzales & Cale Dietrich, which means if I don’t mess up (a.k.a. request new titles) I will most likely hit that mythical 100% ratio before the end of July!

  • WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?

1. Elle’s A To Z Of Love by Claire Huston (3/5 stars) REVIEW
After really enjoying fellow book blogger Claire Huston‘s debut Art And Soul last year, I simply couldn’t say no when she invited me to read her second story Elle’s A To Z Of Love. I’ve been more and more in the mood for uplifting romance stories and I had high hopes for this book, but sadly enough this story and me weren’t ment to be. I guess it’s unpopular opinion time again! Elle’s A To Z Of Love is by no means a bad read, but the story included some elements that somehow never sit right with me… More in my review.

2. Stranded by Sarah Goodwin (4/5 stars) REVIEW 14/09
I admit that I was hooked as soon as I read the blurb of Stranded. I love a good survival thriller and the mystery around eight people arriving and only three surviving made me want to read this story instantly. I’ve been looking forward to read it, and I can now say that I definitely liked what I found. Stranded is a true survival thriller that also offers its very own little locked room mystery to boot. The story is strangely infuriating while also being highly entertaining, and it’s definitely one that will have you in its claws until the very end.

3. The Hidden by Melanie Golding (4/5 stars) REVIEW 29/10
Melanie Golding has been on my radar ever since I read her debut Little Darlings back in 2019, and I’m so happy that I was given the opportunity to read her second book The Hidden early. I always have a weak spot for mythology/folklore elements in my stories, and as soon as I saw mentioned that this newest story offered exactly that I knew I HAD to read it. My expectations were high, and I have to say that those expectations were definitely met. There are so many different layers to this story, and I had a fantastic time discovering every single one of them.

4. A Dog’s Promise by W. Bruce Cameron (3,5/5 stars) REVIEW 30/07
After enjoying the first two A Dog’s Purpose books, I decided to read the final book too; both because I wanted to do so while memories of the first books were still fresh and because it ment I could complete my final series for my yearly goal. I ended up having contrasting feelings for this third story though.

5. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton (DNF 25%; 0 stars) REVIEW 30/07
So… I definitely didn’t expect this to happen. I confess that I had never read the popular modern classic The Outsiders before, and as so many call it a favorite I decided that it was time to finally discover what this story was all about. The fact that the author wrote this when she was a teenager herself made me even more intrigued, and I’ve been looking forward to dive in. Unfortunately, this story and me clearly weren’t ment to be.

  • WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?

I can’t believe I’m completely free to read whatever I want after my current reads! It will be good to take a break from ARCs… I will probably pick up The Hound Of The Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle next to finish a challenge, but afterwards I will mostly stick to reading whatever I’m in the mood for. What would that be? Probably either another DI Kim Stone book with Dead Souls by Angela Marsons or The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren… I hope to finally get to my TBR jar pick Red Winter by Dan Smith in August too.
