I can’t believe it’s September already! August was another pretty quiet month… We did go on a short city trip to visit friends, and we’ve been working a lot at our countryside plot thanks to the weather being unusually mild during most of the month. I’m so ready for Spring to arrive officially though! Lots of seedlings to plant if the weather keeps up. 😉 The pets (and me) have been enjoying the sunshine; I do hope it will rain again some time soon because we’ve hardly had any for months.

Next: the bookish numbers.

  • Number of books read in August: 20
  • Total number of books read in 2022: 165
  • Total number of pages read in August: 7.166
  • Total number of pages read in 2022: 57.026

August went pretty well and I managed to read a lot especially in the first half of the month. Things did slow down considerably in the last ten days or so; sadly it seems like not enjoying most anticipated release The Winners ended with a beginning reading slump… Ratings were lower than usual too, with just two books above 4 stars, a DNF and 6 further books 3 stars or below.

5 STARS: Absolutely and entirely mind blowing! I suggest you to pick up a copy now.

The Botanist – by M.W. Craven

4.5 STARS: This one was almost perfect. Surely fantastic!

Cut Short – by M.W. Craven

4 STARS: Wow, this was really good. Close to amazing!

A Steep Price – by Robert Dugoni // Runaway Groomsman – by Meghan Quinn // A Cold Trail – by Robert Dugoni // In Her Tracks – by Robert Dugoni // The Invisible Husband Of Frick Island – by Colleen Oakley // What She Found – by Robert Dugoni // The Last Girl To Die – by Helen Fields // One Italian Summer – by Rebecca Serle // Seat 7A – by Sebastian Fitzek

3 STARS: It was a nice read, but not fantastic.

Tales From The Folly – by Ben Aaronovitch // The Socialite’s Guide To Murder – by S.K. Golden // The Winners – by Fredrik Backman

2.5 STARS: I give this one the benefit of the doubt. Nothing too exciting.

Meet Me In The Margins – by Melissa Ferguson // Wishtress – by Nadine Brandes

2 STARS: It was ok. But mostly ‘meh’.

Take My Husband – by Ellen Meister

0 STARS (DNF): I didn’t even bother to finish this one. Either horrible or definitely not for me!

Call Me When You’re Dead – by A.R. Taylor

I decided to cut back on the challenges and only join a limited amount this year. I actually finished the Goodreads challenge, but decided to increase it straight away. xD I do need to start thinking about my remaining two books for the Reading Through The Centuries challenge and my Beat The Backlist Bingo titles…

As for my other goals: I’m getting close to finishing my series goal, and my Netgalley ratio is still looking fantastic. What isn’t looking good is my ARC/backlist ratio, because I haven’t been able to keep it below the 40% mark for the second month in a row. I did get my 600+ pages book in thanks to an ARC! And I’m close to finishing my international authors/translation goal (I actually have two September ARCs lined up that will complete it).

  • Read at least 3 (modern) classics (rereads don’t count) 3/3 (Peril At End House // Death On The Nile // The Murder At The Vicarage)
  • Complete at least 6 series (rereads don’t count) 5/6 (Grant County // Holger Munch & Mia Kruger // The Law Of Moses // Henning Juul // Beartown)
  • Reread at least 2 books 1/2 (Harry Potter En De Gevangene Van Azkaban)
  • Bring my physical TBR pile below 550 books and keep it that way. 752/550
  • Read at least one book over 600 pages 1/1 DONE!!! (688 pages; The Winners)
  • Keep ARC/backlist title ratio below 40% 40.6%
  • Read at least 2 books in Spanish 1/2 (Marina)
  • Read at least 1 book in Dutch 1/1 DONE!!! (Harry Potter En De Gevangene Van Azkaban)
  • Read at least 15 international authors and/or translations 13/15 (Marina (Spain) // One Of Us (Norway) // The Love Hypothesis (Italy) // Pierced (Norway) // I’m Traveling Alone (Norway) // One Summer In Italy (Germany) // Marion Lane And The Deadly Rose (South Africa) // The Rabbit Factor (Finland) // J.R.R. Tolkien (Spain) // The Little Captain (The Netherlands) // The Winners (Sweden) // Against The Ice (Denmark) // Seat 7A (Germany))
  • Read at least 10 TBR jar picks 4/10 (Grown // The Forevers // 56 Days // Master Class)
  • Keep my Netgalley ratio above the 80% 96%

Have a wonderful September and happy reading!
