I had originally decided to include this feature in my monthly wrap ups, but I just felt there were too many facts squeezed into one little post and the whole purpose of putting my favorite reads in the spotlight was lost. So this is me giving those favorites their well deserved extra attention! October delivered four new 4,5 star ratings, but there was one new 5 star read as well. This made it easy to pick a winner for last month… Can you guess which one? Without further delay, October’s favorite is: *drumroll*

The Accomplice by Steve Cavanagh!! No real surprise here to be honest because I do love the Eddie Flynn series in general… The plot was a lot less complicated this time around, but I still had a fantastic time reading it.
“I couldn’t have picked this sequel up at a better time, and it ended up being just the exhilarating crime/legal thriller story I was craving. I’m a big fan of Eddie Flynn and the rest of the cast, and it was fantastic to be able to catch up with them again.”
“I can guarantee that The Accomplice will appear on my list of 2022 favorites!”
Four books received a 4,5 star rating last month, and I love how they belong to a selection of different genres. All four were excellent reads!
What I said in my review:
“This story takes it a LOT further than Finlay Donovan: the main character is basically a female Dexter, and I loved every single twisted minute of this crazy ride. Finally a dark comedy that lives up to expectations again!”
“What I also loved is that How To Kill Men And Get Away With It doesn’t fit in a neat little genre box. You will find bits of dark comedy, serial killer thriller and romance all mixed together into one delicious bookish cocktail, and there are many different elements incorporated into the plot. ”
What I said in my review:
“Make sure to brace yourself for twisted ride that mixes the well known banter with great police work.”
“All in all Hidden Scars turned out to be yet another very satisfying DI Kim Stone sequel, and I already can’t wait to see what happens next.”
What I said in my review:
“Basically, this book felt like a big giant hug. Her romances are always on the sweet side (just how I like them), and Amelia and Noah’s story is one of my favorites written by her.”
“There were some minor obstacles and heavier topics along the way, but When In Rome is mainly uplifting and exactly the feel-good romance I hoped it would be. Sweet, well written and such a great ending too! ”
What I said in my review:
“There is just something about the way Chanel Cleeton weaves together her stories that draws you straight in, mixing fascinating characters with historical facts and a healthy dose of romance.”
“This time around, the story has less romance than usual, and is considerably more heavy on the historical details with the focus on the Spanish oppression in Cuba, the war and the newspaper scene in New York. I personally didn’t mind this shift in content, because the historical details were fascinating and I learned so much about the late 19th century situation in Cuba.”
Have you read any of these titles above? What did you think of them? What were your favorite reads in October?
