Happy New Year and 2018 Goals

First of all I want to wish everybody a very Happy New Year and all the best for 2018!! May this year be filled with happiness for all of you. ❤

Now that it’s January 1st, it’s time to think about my reading goals for 2018. I still can’t believe I was able to read over 180 books for the third year in a row, and I don’t pretend I will be able to reach that amount again… So I have decided to not stress myself and keep my challenges reasonable, especially considering I’ve been in a slump for the last couple of months. The reading slump is mostly defeated, but the blogging slump is still lingering and I’m taking things slowly to not suffer from any relapses. 😉 The new feature Yvo’s Shorties is definitely helping getting rid of that book review backlog though! Also, I’ve decided 2018 will be all about having fun reading and reading more of my own books. As much as I love my ARCs, last year a whopping 66% of the books I read were ARCs and I really need to focus on all those poor neglected books collecting dust on my shelves again.

So these will be my goals for 2018, besides the fact I want to take things slower and read more of my own books:

READING:

  • I have set my Goodreads Reading Challenge to 100 books.
  • Read at least 3 classics (rereads don’t count)
  • Complete at least 5 series (rereads don’t count)
  • Reread at least 2 books
  • Bring my physical TBR pile below 300 books and keep it that way.
  • Read at least one book over 800 pages
  • Read at least 1 book in Spanish
  • Read at least 1 book in Dutch
  • Read more international authors/translations (at least 10)
  • Join at least 5 challenges during the year
  • Keep my Netgalley ratio above the 80%

BLOGGING/LIFE:

  • bloggingUpdate more frequently and try not to get too behind with reviews
  • Be more active in the community and try to comment more. I always try to, but somehow it is hard to find enough time to read, blog AND comment on the blogs I follow…
  • Get fit, eat more healthy and participate in a 5km run! I really have to focus more on my running this year. Again. But this time I’m determined to make it!

Reading Goals: 2016 Edition

Now I have recovered from New Years Eve and wrapped up the December month, it’s time to think about my reading goals for 2016 before I decide what my favorite 2015 reads were. I still can’t believe I have almost doubled the amount of books and pages read in 2014 last year, and I don’t pretend I will be able to reach that amount again… So I have decided to not stress myself and keep my challenges reasonable. These will be my goals:

READING:

  • I have set my Goodreads Reading Challenge to 100 books. I know that is 85 books less than in 2015, but we’ll see how it goes.
  • Read at least 5 classics (rereads don’t count)
  • Complete at least 5 series (rereads don’t count)
  • Reread at least 3 books
  • Bring my physical TBR pile below 200 books and keep it that way.
  • Read at least one book over 800 pages
  • Read at least 5 books in Spanish
  • Join at least 5 challenges during the year

bloggingBLOGGING/LIFE:

  • Finish older reviews that haven’t been posted yet: 0/10
  • Update older reviews to new format: 0/14
  • Update more frequently and try not to get too behind with reviews (example: I still have to write the last five reviews for last year… Oops!)
  • Be more active in the community and try to comment more. I always try to, but somehow it is hard to find enough time to read, blog AND comment on the blogs I follow…
  • Participate in a 5km run! Trust me, for me this would be a miracle. 😉 I’m currently at 2km and counting…

Reading Goals: 2015 Edition

2015readinggoals

With the new year already being two days old, it is time to sit down and think about my reading goals for 2015. Last December I managed to read 8 more books with a total of 2.617 pages, bringing the total number of books read in 2014 to 91 and the number of pages to 31.983. Way higher than I originally anticipated, and a number I probably won’t be able to reach this year. Then again, I won’t be looking for quantity this year; I will be trying to read slower, enjoy more and above all read books I have been wanting to read for ages. More concretely, these will be my goals:

READING:

  • I’ve set my Goodreads goal to read 60 books; 31 books less than my final number last year. Like I said before, I will be aiming for quality, not quantity.
  • weekend-reading1Read at least 5 classics (only those I haven’t read before count)
  • Finish rereading the Harry Potter series (last three books left)
  • Complete at least 5 series (can be trilogy as well; rereads don’t count)
  • Bring my physical TBR pile below 50 books and keep it that way (currently 85 books are waiting to be read…)
  • Read at least one book over 800 pages
  • Read at least 5 books in Spanish
  • Join at least 5 challenges during the year

bloggingBLOGGING:

  • Finish and improve all my older reviews
  • Update more frequently and try not to get too behind with reviews (example: I still have to write the last two reviews for last year… Oops!)
  • Be more active in the community and try to comment more. I always try to, but somehow it is hard to find enough time to read, blog AND comment on the blogs I follow…
