Teaser Tuesdays #166 – February 20th: The Visitor

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I’m currently reading one of my most anticipated releases this year: The Visitor by K.L. Slater! I’m seriously addicted to her psychological thrillers and I’ve been waiting impatiently for this one ever since I first heard about it. I’m currently out of town, but I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed I’ll be able to squeeze in at least a little reading time to continue this one!

My teaser (2%):

“Once the process has started, it’s difficult to back out. It’s so much harder to hold your hands up and tell the truth than to just let it play out and see where things go.”

Teaser Tuesdays #165 – February 13th: What Blooms From Dust

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I was intrigued by this title as soon as I first read the blurb, so I decided to pick it up even though it’s not due until June. What Blooms From Dust by James Markert without doubt has a very interesting premise… And I will be looking forward to read more of it soon.

My teaser (2%):

“Tall prairie grass swayed alongside the speeding train. Miles of velvety blades, moving like something Wilmington couldn’t quite put a finger on.”

Teaser Tuesdays #164 – February 6th: Black Heart

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

So I have been convinced by certain bloggers (hint hint) I need this book in my life, so I went and lovely Bookouture accepted my late NG request. A male detective for a change AND a serial killer on the loose? Yes please! I’m not that far into Black Heart by Anna-Lou Weatherley yet, but it has all the signs of being a winner so far.

My teaser (8%):

“I can see she’s in denial, the early stage of disbelief when she’s heard the words but they’ve yet to sink in. I know that stage: it’s fucking painful. But worse, I know the real anguish is yet to come.”

Teaser Tuesdays #163 – January 30th: Station Eleven

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I have been wanting to read this book for YEARS, but somehow I never actually picked it up… No longer. I’ve finally started reading Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel and while it is still early days, I’m having high hopes for it. Especially since so many fellow bloggers seem to have loved the story… I’m keeping my fingers crossed I will be one of them soon.

My teaser (4%):

“All the magic of the storm had left him, and the happiness he’d felt a moment earlier was fading. The night was dark and filled with movement, snow falling fast and silent, the cars parked on the street swelling into soft outlines of themselves.”

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

True, I haven’t actually started reading this one yet, but I will later today and I’m really looking forward to it. I was intrigued by the blurb when I first saw Best Friends mentioned and just HAD to request a copy… Fingers crossed it’s going to be a good one.

My teaser (1%):

“Those cries. They still lingered in Grace’s memory along with the screams. An endless echo forever bouncing off the inner walls of her skull.”

Teaser Tuesdays #161 – January 16th: The Silent Girls

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I have been looking forward to pick up this Bookouture thriller, and not just because of the gorgeous cover. I’ve only just started The Silent Girls by Dylan Young, so it’s still early days when it comes to having a proper opinion yet… But I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed it’s going to be good.

My teaser (12%):

“At the same time as Anna struggled to find solace in sleep, twenty-five miles away, near a spill of red ochre under a canopy of oaks, a figure paused. Unmistakably male he stood in contemplation, having finally found what he’d been searching for under the frozen November moon.”

Teaser Tuesdays #160 – January 9th: The Hating Game

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

It’s been a while since I last participated in this meme… Three months to be exact. xD Oops? But a new year, a new start right? I opened up the first chapter of The Hating Game by Sally Thorne yesterday and there was just too much temptation NOT to share the quote found right on the very first page. I’m actually finishing another Beat The Backlist read (The Ends Of The World by Maggie Hall) first, but this one definitely looks like it’s going to be a fun read. Looking forward to it!

My teaser (1%):

“Both love and hate are mirror versions of the same game – and you have to win. Why? Your heart and your ego. Trust me, I should now.”
