Teaser Tuesdays #176 – June 19th: The Upside Of Unrequited

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I’ve been meaning to pick up The Upside Of Unrequited ever since it was first published last year, and it’s time to finally do something about that. This month being Pride month is another excellent reason for picking this one up, and hopefully I’ll be able to read one or two other titles before the end of the month as well. But first, it’s time to dive into this one.

My teaser (15%):

“The silence is a little painful. It’s funny, because you always think the hard part is meeting someone the first time. It’s not. It’s the second time, because you’ve already used up all the obvious topics of conversation.”

Teaser Tuesdays #175 – June 12th: Bring Me Back

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

There has been a lot of hype around this one, so I’ve been hesitant to pick it up myself… But with the publish date around the corner, it was time for me to see how I will react to this story. There is no doubt I’m curious about Bring Me Back, and I’ve been trying to go in with low expectations, so we’ll see how things go I guess. Fingers crossed!

My teaser (2%):

“My heart misses a beat. I lean my free hand on the cold metal back of the bench, trying to process what he’s just told me.”

Teaser Tuesdays #174 – June 5th: The Date @bookouture @Fab_fiction

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I actually already finished this one on Sunday, but I just HAD to share a teaser anyway. Louise Jensen is one of my favorite psychological thriller authors and she has done her thing once again by writing her newest story The Date. Holy cow, what a read! Not only is the writing sublime, but the suspense is spot on and I’m always a sucker for the whole amnesia element. Especially in this case, where the main character is unable to recognize faces after trauma… Fascinating, highly addictive and utterly absorbing! I literally dropped everything to read this one.

My teaser (17%):

“Gingerly, I stand, cup my eyes and press my face against the glass.

There’s nobody there.

But that doesn’t mean he has gone.”

Teaser Tuesdays #173 – April 17th: Blood Runs Cold

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

Technically I haven’t started officially reading this one yet, but I will do so today. Blood Runs Cold by Dylan Young is the sequel of a new detective series I’ve had my eyes on. The first book was great, so I’m definitely looking forward to read this one! It’s one of the final books I need to get through before next week (I just need to finish one more after this one), and fingers crossed it will be a good one.

My teaser (14%):

“It soon became too hot to sit out, and after twenty minutes Anna could feel her skin tingling. It matched the frustration she felt for the need to get on with things.”

Technically I haven’t started reading this one yet, but since I will today it still sort of counts right? I’m so SO excited to be finally meeting Kay Hunter and I’m having very high expectations for Scared To Death! Fingers crossed this will be another detective series to add to my favorites.

My teaser (2%):

“A hand reached out for hers, and she wound her fingers around his, seeking strength. She found none.”

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I’m finally reading Salt To The Sea by Ruta Sepetys! I’m a big fan of her other novels, so I’m still not sure why it took me this long to actually pick up this title. I’m having very high hopes for this one, so fingers crossed it will be another good one.

My teaser (4%):

“I thought of the countless refugees trekking toward freedom. How many millions of people had lost their home and family during the war? I had aggree with Mother to look to the future, but secretly I dreamed of returning to the past.”

So yesterday was my birthday, and to help me forget I am no longer in my twenties, I decided to start a read with a setting/time period that is definitely way older than me. 😉 I’ve been meaning to pick up this historical fiction read for a while now, so I’m looking forward to finally do so. The Elephant Keeper’s Daughter by Julia Drosten it is!

My teaser (17%):

“Jeeva entered a little reception salon, then stopped dead in his tracks. All the precious furnishings, rugs, vases, and statues had vanished.”
