Teaser Tuesdays #157 – September 19th: It

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I’m sure I’m not the only one doing this, but I thought the movie coming out was a good excuse to finally tackle this monster. Plus, I still needed a 800+ pages book to complete a challenge and this one seems to be doing the trick abundantly. xD I’ll be honest I have not a clue what It will exactly be about and I like it that way… I’m only a few pages in, but I’m definitely hoping to finish it within the next month or so. Stephen King, bring it on!

My teaser (1%):

“Smells of dirt and wet and long-gone vegetables would merge into one unmistakable ineluctable smell, the smell of the monster, the apotheosis of all monsters. It was the smell of something for which he had no name: the smell of It, crouched and lurking and ready to spring.”

Teaser Tuesdays #156 – September 12th: The Dollmaker Of Krakow

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I’m currently reading one of my last pending Netgalley ARCs: The Dollmaker Of Krakow by R.M. Romero. This Middle Grade story set during WWII has been compared to The Boy In The Striped Pajamas (one of my all time favorites) and not only has a stunning cover but also sounds wonderful. I’m not that far into it yet, but I’m having a feeling it’s going to be a fast read!

My teaser (3%):

“ It took only a single touch for her to realize that the crack that had raced up her cheek in the Land of the Dolls was gone. When she lowered her arm, her fingers were smudged with blush-pink paint that smelled fresh.”

Teaser Tuesdays #155 – September 5th: The Surrogate

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I’m SO excited to be reading one of my most anticipated releases this year right now! The Surrogate by Louise Jensen… I’ve only just started reading it, but what I’ve seen is GOOD. I can’t wait to read more of it today, and if I can find the time I’ll most likely finish it in one sitting. 😀

My teaser (2%):

“She wraps her arms around herself as though she is cold, despite this being the warmest May on record for years. Cherry blossom twirls around her ankles like confetti, but there will be no happily ever after for the occupants of this house, the sense of tragedy already seeping into its red bricks.”

Teaser Tuesdays #154 – August 29th: Monsters Of Men

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I’m finally reading the final book of the Chaos Walking trilogy (most likely I will finish it today), and I’m having mixed feelings about Monsters Of Men right now. Mostly due to the new POV of ‘The Return‘ which I’m finding rather confusing instead of intriguing, and a little because of the same slang that has been bothering me since the beginning. It’s not that I don’t like it, but I don’t LOVE love it either. Maybe I just have myself to blame for picking up A Monster Calls first and therefore destroying any chance for Patrick Ness‘  other books to live up to it??? 😉

My teaser (26%):

“The Sky left me today, to be alone, as the Sky occasionally does. It is a need of the Sky, of any Sky.

But he returned with new words.

So where did he hear them?”

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I’m currently reading Midnight At The Bright Ideas Bookstore by Matthew Sullivan, another pending Netgalley title and one I’m really excited about finally reading. I love books about books! I’m not all that far into the story yet, but I definitely like the writing style so far and can’t wait to further dive into this story.

My teaser (17%):

“I guess it just bugs me to be paying so little, he added. Something’s wrong in the air, you know, when a book costs less than a bullet. Or a Coke. Values-wise.”

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I’m currently reading The Other Girl by Erica Spindler, a Netgalley ARC I was personally invited to read and just couldn’t resist. I’ve read her work in the past and enjoyed it, so I’m looking forward to properly dive into this new thriller today! I’ve heard good things about it and so far things are looking promising.

My teaser (1%):

“Randi took another long draw on the beer. Far, far away… that’s where she wanted to go. Someplace nobody looked at her that way again.”

Teaser Tuesdays #151 – August 1st: The Lying Game

teasertuesdays2017

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly book meme hosted at The Purple Booker. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I’ve decided to finally pick up my ARC copy of The Lying Game by Ruth Ware despite the mixed reviews, mostly because I have been wanting to read one of her books for a long time now. I have a copy of her other two titles as well, but decided to read this one first since it has a lower rating and I’m hoping to avoid disappointments that way. Fingers crossed it will turn out to be a good one for me though!

My teaser (2%):

“I lie there for a moment thinking about the text, wondering who it could be. Who’d be texting at this hour? None of my friends would be awake…”
