I know that I’ve said this before, but there is no denying that the Detective Josie Quinn series is one of my favorite detective thriller series and I’m always looking forward to a new installment. I’ve been an instant fan ever since I read the first book back in 2018… It’s been an intense ride so far for Josie Quinn, and it tooks like trouble keeps finding her in the small town of Denton where she lives and works. Not that I’m complaining, as it means more Josie Quinn adventures to read about! Save Her Soul is already book number nine of the series, and without doubt another excellent ride. This series just doesn’t stop delivering!

One thing that keeps standing out for me with the books of this series is just how addictive each book is. I have learned my lesson and always clear my schedule beforehand, because once I start reading the first chapter I just know I won’t be able to stop reading until I reach that final page. A lightning fast pace and an abundance of action and plot twists will keep you on the edge of your seat and time will fly as you keep turning those pages. Save Her Soul is no exception, and while slightly less exhilarating than some of the previous books, it is still a highly engaging ride. Josie seems to be getting a little breather in this book, although there will be personal developments affecting her and hints at the future will leave you wanting for the next book.

Technically you can read Save Her Soul as a stand-alone, as a little background information is provided to refresh memories, but you will be missing out on the dynamics between the characters if you don’t read the previous books. And if you enjoy thrilling and intense detective stories, you will be missing out on hours of entertainment in the first place! In book number nine we get to meet up with our favorite main characters again, and I have loved seeing them develop over time. It was interesting to see them react to the disaster (flood) situation in Denton and later try to unravel the secrets and history around the new case they have to investigate.

I have to admit that Save Her Soul might not have been my absolute favorite of the series, but it was still a more than solid read. This story felt slightly less intense and of course the case affects Josie in a less personal way than some of the previous ones… But there is still plenty of action, danger and suspense to devour. The case is another intriguing one, and the whole flood situation gave the plot that ominous feel. The story ends with a bang as well, and I will most definitely be looking forward to whatever Josie Quinn and the others will encounter next. Save Her Soul is yet another excellent sequel with a high entertainment value that will be perfect for anyone who likes a fast and intense detective thriller read.

I know that I’m repeating myself, but that doesn’t mean it is less true: the Detective Josie Quinn series is one of my favorite detective series and every time I find out that a new installment is coming out it kind of feels like an early birthday present. Or an actual birthday present in this case, as I was granted an ARC on my actual birthday! I’ve been a fan of this series ever since I read the first book back in 2018… It’s been a long and intense ride for Josie Quinn so far, and it seems like trouble keeps finding her in the small town where she works. I’m not complaining of course, as new trouble means a new Josie Quinn book and another rollercoaster thriller ride to look forward to. Find Her Alive is no exception, and is yet another excellent addition to the series. Book number eight is another firecracker!

One thing that stands out with the books of this series is just how compelling each book is. You will find yourself addicted as soon as you read the first chapters, and with a lightning fast pace and an abundance of action and plot twists you will find it very hard to stop reading until you reach those final pages. Time will fly and it’s definitely a good idea to clear your schedule before you start one of these books. Find Her Alive is already book number eight and I have loved watching the main characters grow and develop over time… This book is another personal one for Josie, as the case once again hits close to home. Technically you can read Find Her Alive as a stand-alone, as a little background information is provided to refresh memories, but you will be missing out on the dynamics between the characters if you don’t read the previous books. And if you enjoy thrilling and intense detective stories, you will be missing out on hours of entertainment in the first place!

There is just no denying the power of being able to meet up with favorite characters again. I have been rooting for Josie, Noah, Gretchen and the others since the beginning and seeing them grow over time has been a true pleasure. Meeting up with them again feels like meeting up with old friends, although it’s going to be quite a stressful meeting in Find Her Alive… Like I said before, in book number eight things are going to get personal again for Josie and the case will hit very close to home. Why? Well, her twin sister Trinity has disappeared without a trace and nobody seems to have heard from her in weeks… Bones found at the cabin she was renting hint at something very sinister, but how will Josie and her team find Trinity without further clues?

There is a lot to love in Find Her Alive and the personal angle definitely gave the story an extra edge. A missing sister, a serial killer cold case, hardly any clues to help them solve the mystery… Oh yes, this will be another intense ride and the main characters won’t have it easy. Chapters set in the present are mixed with flashbacks from the serial killer’s POV… And I always love it when we get to have a glimpse inside of such a dark and disturbed character. I’ve mentioned in the past that if you look critically, things can be said about the credibility of certain aspects of the plot and certain things might be slightly over the top, but I personally don’t mind as the story is a true rollercoaster ride, has a very high entertainment value and really packs a punch. If you enjoy intense and fast detective thrillers, you should definitely meet Josie Quinn!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the Detective Josie Quinn series is one of my favorite detective series and every time I discover a new installment is coming out I get that feeling of Christmas having arrived early. I’ve been a fan of this series ever since I read the first book almost two years ago… It’s been a long and intense ride for Josie Quinn, and it seems like trouble keeps showing up around the small town where she works. Not that I’m complaining, as each new appearance of trouble means a new Josie Quinn book and a promise of another formidable and addicting ride. Cold Heart Creek is no exception, and already the seventh book that manages to hit the detective thriller nail right on the head. Want to know why?

The first thing you have to know is just how compelling each book is. I know it might come over as a bit of a book reviewer cliche, but you will want to clear your schedule before you pick up one of these books… Because once you read the first chapter, you will forget about your pending tasks and keep turning those pages until you suddenly reach that final page, look up at the clock and realize hours have past. With a superfast pace, lots of action and suspense and a compelling plot, time will fly as you will become fully addicted to whatever shocking case Josie Quinn and her team encounter next… And I literally finished Cold Heart Creek in one sitting.

There is also no denying the power of being able to meet up with favorite characters again. I have been rooting for Josie, Noah, Gretchen and the others since the beginning and I’ve really enjoyed seeing them grow over time… And getting to meet up with them again is always a fantastic feeling. Technically, you could read Cold Heart Creek as a stand-alone, but you will be missing out on the background of the different characters and you might not understand some comments about events that happened in previous books. That said, the main storyline and two cases Josie Quinn and her team investigate in book seven shouldn’t be a problem to follow without that previous knowledge… Although if you are a fan of thrilling and intense detective stories, there really is no excuse to just read them all and enjoy the ride before diving into the newest Detective Josie Quinn.

There isn’t too much focus on the personal development of the main characters this time around. Instead, Cold Heart Creek mostly focuses on not one, but two cases that might or might not be connected… The story will grab you from the very first chapter, as Lisa Regan manages to lure you in with the promise of another disturbing and thrilling story. I’ve mentioned in the past that if you look critically, things can be said about the credibility of the plot and things being slightly over the top, but I personally don’t mind as the story reads lightning fast and is 200% entertaining and addictive. I really enjoyed the cult element in Cold Heart Creek and just how big of a role it played in the plot in general; the scenes in the woods were particularly well described and really made the setting come alive for me. The plot itself has many twists and turns and events that will definitely manage to catch you unawares… If you are a fan of fast and intense detective thrillers with a very high entertainment value and pack a punch, I can highly recommend both Cold Heart Creek and the Detective Josie Quinn series in general.

I’ve been a fan of this series ever since I read the first book about eighteen months ago. With each new meeting with Detective Josie Quinn, my love for this series is only reconfirmed all over again and each book brings the promise of yet another intense and suspenseful ride. Her Silent Cry is no exception to the rule, and already the sixth successful installment of this detective series. Want to know why?

First of all, the simple fact of being able to meet up with some of your favorite characters again is always a fantastic feeling. Josie Quinn and her team managed to win over my heart from the start, and with each new story it feels as if you are meeting up again with old friends. You can see their characters develop over time, the events of the different books leaving its mark on their characters as well as the dynamics between them. While it’s true you can technically read Her Silent Cry as a stand-alone with only minor loss of background information, you will miss out on references to the past and might not fully get the dynamics between the different characters. And with the first five books all being thrilling and intense rides, there’s no excuse not to catch up with the past before diving into the newest Detective Josie Quinn!

In Her Silent Cry you will find new developments relating to the personal life of Josie Quinn, and that part of the storyline definitely left me wanting for more! Josie, Noah, Gretchen and even Misty and Trinity play a role throughout the story, although the main focus is on the new case that started developing right under Josie’s nose. It’s a missing child this time around, and a case that turns out to be a lot more sinister and complicated than you might think when little Lucy first goes missing… The little chapters with nameless characters give you a hint, but you’ll find yourself wondering how everything actually connects as you keep turning those pages and things are getting more and more critical. A fast pace is combined with a suspenseful and twisted plot filled with secrets and turns and together they will make the intensity level go through the roof. Josie Quinn and her team are finding themselves in a race against the clock, desperately trying to find Lucy alive and stop more people from getting hurt… But things are not that simple as certain people seem to be hiding crucial information that could potentially help them get Lucy back. As always, you might wonder about the credibility of certain aspects of the plot, but I myself was too busy flying through the pages and enjoying myself to really stand still by that. If you are a fan of intense and thrilling detective thrillers that pack a punch, you should definitely schedule yourself a meeting with Detective Josie Quinn soon!

I always have a weak spot for a good detective thriller series, and Detective Josie Quinn has quickly grown into one of my favorites. I have been enjoying spending time with his main character in the fictional city of Denton, and book number five is without doubt another excellent addition to the series. If you like your detective thrillers fast, intense and basically similar to crazy rollercoaster rides, you definitely have to try this series. What a ride! I wasn’t sure what else could be happening after all Denton and its habitants have already gone through, but Lisa Regan has another surprise in store and the plot intensifies. One of the reasons the series works this well is that the main characters are easy to like and connect to. Between this, the writing style and a gripping plot you will definitely want to free some of your time when you start reading The Bones She Buried. I like how we with each installment not only we are given a new intense investigation to follow, but we also see the main characters we’ve grown to love evolve over time. This means you’ll have to read the books in order, but every single one has been a more than solid read so far and definitely worth your time. In fact: The Bones She Buried is one heck of an entertaining and intense ride and this time around things get personal once again. Things might be said about the credibility of certain aspects of the plot, but personally I was too busy enjoying my adrenaline ride to worry about it. I’m already looking forward to meet Josie Quinn again!

WARNING: Possible spoilers! Please don’t read this summary if you haven’t read the first four books of this series yet. I’ll keep the summary super short but it’s impossible to keep it completely spoiler-free…

When Josie Quinn and her partner Noah arrive at his mother’s home, they immediately realize something wrong. They rush in only to find Noah’s mother lying lifeless in her back garden…The team is called in, but they are struggling to find clues or understand why someone would want to hurt her. Then another body turns up, and they are starting to suspect the two cases might be linked… But are they really when there is no evidence of that connection to be found? They will have to dig deep if they want to find out the truth in time.

Detective Josie Quinn has quickly grown into one of my favorite detective thriller series. I like my thrillers fast, entertaining, suspenseful and action-packed, and every single book has delivered exactly that so far. The main character is easy to like and meeting up with Josie Quinn is like visiting an old friend. Things can be said about the credibility of certain aspects of the plot and the fact that a LOT seems to be happening in such a small town and within such a small group of people. But I have to be honest here and say I was far too busy enjoying the ride to really think about it. This is one of those series you will find yourself flying through and it will be hard to let go before you reach the final page. The Bones She Buried is another scorcher!

!! Happy publication day !!

I always have a weak spot for a good detective thriller series, and Detective Josie Quinn has quickly grown into one of my favorites. I have been enjoying spending time with his main character in the fictional city of Denton, and book number four is without doubt another great addition to the series. Between this, the writing style and a gripping plot you will definitely want to free some of your time when you start reading Her Final Confession. Did I think some aspects of the plot were a bit too farfetched and not everything was credible? Without doubt. Does this take away from the overall credibility of the story and made me raise my eyebrows at points? Maybe. But the fact is: Her Final Confession is still one heck of an entertaining and intense ride and the story had me at serial killer. (Ok, technically long before that.) It was fascinating to find out more about both Gretchen’s past and learn more about Josie… Even though some plot twists and facts were a bit too convenient and farfetched. This is the only minor flaw of what has been an excellent detective thriller series so far, and I’m already looking forward to the next installment.

WARNING: Possible spoilers! Please don’t read this summary if you haven’t read the first three books of this series yet. I’ll keep the summary super short but it’s impossible to keep it completely spoiler-free…

When the body of a young student is found on the driveway of Gretchen Palmer, a valuable member of Detective Josie Quinn’s team, Josie is sure Gretchen is innocent. But with Gretchen missing and no real clue as to what happened, Josie is forced to treat her as a suspect anyway. Even when Gretchen finally shows up and even confesses to the crime, Josie doesn’t believe she has killed the boy. And Josie is determined to find out the identity of the real killer instead. This means digging into Gretchen’s past, something that turns out to be more dangerous than they thought…

finalthoughtsreviewqqq

I have consistently enjoyed the books of this detective thriller series so far and book number four is no different. Her Final Confession is fast, suspenseful and filled with plot twists and shocking surprises. Intense is an understatement! While not everything about the plot and twists is exactly credible, it’s still quite easy to forget about the credibility and enjoy the ride anyway. The writing style and the characters have a lot to do with this! Entertaining, intense and full of suspense: Her Final Confession is without doubt another excellent addition!

!! Happy publication day !!

I can’t seem to resist a good detective thriller and this series is no exception. After the rollercoaster rides with book number one and two, deciding whether to read book number three was an easy one. And I have to say Her Mother’s Grave is the strongest book yet of this series, and it’s without doubt my new favorite. Lightning speed pace, excellent writing, dark, twisted, disturbing, suspenseful… Oh yes, this story will keep you in its claws and there is a lot to love here. Her Mother’s Grave reads like a train and will mess with your mind. The personal life of Josie Quinn plays a huge role in this book, the story showering us with shocking details about her past. You will need an extra hand to keep your jaw from dropping to the floor as you discover more and more facts about her life. Trigger warnings for abuse, violence, neglect and graphic scenes in general, but if you think you can stomach that, you are in for one hell of a ride. Josie Quinn will have to face the impossible and we are right beside her as she tries to keep her life together. Imagine a war zone with plot twists bombs dropping on you, danger around every corner and no clue how to reach the ending safely… Trust me, Her Mother’s Grave is a story you won’t soon forget.

Two young boys are playing in the woods behind a trailer park when they find human bones buried beneath a tree. Detective Josie Quinn and her team are called in to investigate, and Josie has a very uncomfortable feeling about the case. She knows the spot where they found the remains, since she used to play in those same woods as a child, trying to escape for a few hours from her abusive mother. When a rare dental condition confirms the bones belong to a teenager murdered thirty years ago, a girl with the same name as her mother, Josie realizes she has no other choice but to try and track down her mother… Even if she wants nothing more than just leave the past buried.

If you like your thrillers fast, suspenseful and filled with plot twists and shocking surprises, you will be in for a treat with this one. The first two books of the series were already great reads, but Her Mother’s Grave is without doubt my new favorite. Things get close and personal and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time trying to figure out both what happened all those years ago and what was happening in the present. Oh yes, I had a blast reading this book and I’m already looking forward to the next one!

ARC REVIEW: The Girl With No Name – by Lisa Regan @bookouture

myrambles1reviewqqq

After enjoying the first Josie Quinn book back in January, I have been looking out for a new installment. Lisa Regan writes her thrillers just as I like them: fast, action-packed and intense until the very last page. The Girl With No Name definitely fits all those criteria and more, and has proven to be another thrilling ride. There is just something about the writing style that keeps you hooked and wanting for more… The plot is quite complex and one plot twist bomb after the other is being dropped on you; it almost seems like a war zone. I do have to say I started to doubt the credibility of it all. There are so many things going on and some of it seems a bit too farfetched or convenient to be completely credible. Also, I was able to guess a few of the plot twists before they were revealed, which was a bit of a disappointed. That said, there is no doubt about the intensity of the story and the author was able to create another nail bitingly suspenseful hunt for the truth and not one but two missing persons. I like Josie Quinn even though she is the typical damaged past detective and I do think she has a lot of bad luck on the man department; almost too much to be credible. Her way of investigating mostly makes up for it though. The Girl With No Name is not as dark and disturbing as the first book, but that doesn’t mean it’s an quiet ride. Secrets, missing persons, serial killers, dodgy characters… This Detective Josie Quinn sequel has it all. And while not perfect, The Girl With No Name is without doubt still a highly entertaining thriller to read for those who like them intense and action-packed.

shortsummary1reviewqqq

WARNING: Possible spoilers! Please don’t read this summary if you haven’t read the first book yet. I’ll keep the summary short but it’s almost impossible to keep it completely spoiler-free…

Detective Josie Quinn and her team are called in after a newborn baby was snatched from his mother’s arms and the mother left for dead in her house. Their only lead seems to be a woman they caught fleeing the scene, but the girl appears to have amnesia and doesn’t remember who she is nor why she was at the house. Is she a witness, a suspect, or a victim? As Josie Quinn and her team dig deeper, they discover the case is a lot more complicated than it appeared… And more than one life might be at stake.

finalthoughtsreviewqqq

If you like your thrillers fast, intense and full of action, you will most likely enjoy The Girl With No Name. You won’t find a boring minute as you are reading this detective thriller, and even though I had my doubts about the credibility of it all, I still very much enjoyed reading it. Entertaining and fast-paced, this thriller will bring you along a very intense hunt as they are trying to discover the truth and find the missing persons in time. The ending felt a bit too neat, but it does show promising signs for the next book. I’m definitely curious about both what will happen next and about Josie Quinn’s past!

ARC REVIEW: Vanishing Girls – by Lisa Regan @bookouture

Bold and striking: two words that describe the cover perfectly. And these words apply to Vanishing Girls itself as well, because this new detective series goes all out and buries you under a mountain of intense and action-packed scenes. I picked up this thriller on a Saturday afternoon and found myself to be so utterly engrossed I completely forgot I had other things to do. The writing style is engaging and allows you to jump right in. There is a lot going on in Vanishing Girls and there is not one boring minute with the non-stop action and plot twists getting thrown right at you. That said, I almost felt there was too much going on and I started to doubt about the credibility of it all. I’m not saying I didn’t love this story, especially since I like my thrillers dark, intense and suspenseful, but still… Especially the final part felt a little bit too close to the credibility border. The main character Josie Quinn is without doubt another interesting one and a perfect example of a kick ass female detective. The fact she is on a suspension and doing her own investigation anyway adds a little something extra, and I like how well fleshed out and rounded her character felt. There are a few cliches involved, like the complicated and dark past and personal life in general, but Josie Quinn is mostly forgiven for those cliches as she bulldozers through the secrets and lies and gets things done. I do wonder how things could continue on the same level after such an explosive ending, but I’m definitely curious and will be coming back for more. Intense, fascinating, disturbing, suspenseful… Thriller fans, read this book!

shortsummary1reviewqqq

When seventeen-year-old Isabelle Coleman goes missing, the whole town of Denton helps looking for her. But their search turns up nothing but the girl’s phone… That and another girl they didn’t even know was missing. The girl is unresponsible and it is clear she has been through hell and damaged beyond repair. Detective Josie Quinn only gets a name from her: Ramona. Who is Ramona and what does she have to do with the missing girls? What is really going on in Denton?

finalthoughtsreviewqqq

If you like dark, intense, action-packed thrillers, you will be in for a treat with Vanishing Girls. The case described in this first book of a new detective series is both disturbing and fascinating, and this story is not for the weak-hearted. Trigger warnings are in place for violence, abuse and graphic scenes! Vanishing Girls is without doubt my kind of thriller and I had a blast following this rollercoast ride. The plot is so packed with action and twisted that it’s on the border of credible, but there is no doubt you won’t find a boring minute while reading this one. The main character Josie Quinn is on fire in this one!
