Month In Review: February 2017

monthinreviewfebruary2017

It’s March 2017 already, and the summer is slowly coming to an end… February was quite a busy month for me, and it shows in the amount of books I was able to read. A wedding, Carnaval weekend… I guess it took away some of my reading time, but I’m not complaining. 😉 I did manage to read 13 books in February and I continued enjoying my new Instagram account as well. Bookstagram is seriously addicting! These nine photos are my personal February favorites; I’m still trying to find my own style, but I’m having lots of fun anyway! 😀

 As for the bookish numbers:

  • Number of books read in February: 13
  • Total number of books read this year: 35
  • Total number of pages read in February: 4.524
  • Total number of pages read this year: 11.081

February was still a good reading month despite the three low ratings, and I had no less than five 4,5 star ratings, which isn’t bad at all. I’m definitely not complaining!

A new year means new challenges… I ended up joining way more challenges than usual, but at least I’ve already made a lot of progress with the ABC challenges so far. The other challenges are on track as well, although I should read a few classics for my Reading Through The Centuries challenge just in case.

# CHALLENGES #

As for my other goals…No real progress in February, mostly because I’ve been reading quite a lot of ARCs. Hopefully March will be better, although it will be a tough one!

Month In Review: February 2016

monthinreviewfebruary2016

The second month of 2016 has flown away and it looks like summer is slowly coming to an end. I’m keeping my fingers crossed the weather will stay good another month because March is going to be busy! Short trips, a wedding, my birthday… Fun activities, but I’m not sure I will actually be able to read much this month. 😉 I didn’t read as much as normal either last month, but that was mostly because of a beginning reading slump I’m still not completely over. It shows in the pagecount, but at least I managed to at least finish 13 titles… Even though some of them were quite short.

  • Number of books read in February: 13
  • Total number of books read this year: 29
  • Total number of pages read in February: 4.042
  • Total number of pages read this year: 9.210

Lots of either great/amazing books or disappointing reads this month… Which I’m ok with as long as there are more books belonging to the first category. I’m also finally almost up-to-date with my reviews this time (some scheduled to be published soon), which is a miracle haha.

New year means new challenges… I decided to join in total four yearly challenges this time, and so far I’m right on track with all of them.  Hopefully I will be able to keep this up! 😀

# CHALLENGES #

As for my other blogging goals… I managed to complete the challenge goal already and things are looking great when it comes to finishing series. I finally started reading in Spanish again and I have been working on my older reviews as well! 😀 My TBR pile is still hopeless and I have yet to pick up a classic or do a reread, but it’s still too early in the year to worry about that. I’m also slowly progressing with my running goal, which is what I’m probably most excited about. 😀

# OTHER READING/BLOGGING GOALS #

  • Read at least 5 classics (rereads don’t count): 0/5
  • Complete at least 5 series (rereads don’t count): 3/5 (the murder complex/never never/veronica mars)
  • Reread at least 3 books: 0/3

  • Read at least one book over 800 pages: 0/1 (longest book 608 pages)
  • Read at least 5 books in Spanish: 1/5
  • Join at least 5 challenges during the year

Happy March and Happy Reading!

Month In Review: February 2015

monthinreviewfeb2015

When I woke up today I suddenly realized it was already March! Time is truly flying and the summer is about to end… The weather today seemed to agree and welcomed the third month of 2015 with a thunderstorm and a lot of rain. Boo! On the plus side, I was able to finish my current read and start a new one nestled in my favorite chair with a cup of steaming coffee… Something I will be enjoying a lot during the winter months for sure. Also, it’s time to officially wrap up February! Somehow this month is always too short, but I was able to read a fair amount of books anyway and reach one of my highest page counts so far. Yay! On to some quick numbers:

  • Number of books read in February: 9
  • Total number of books read this year: 17
  • Total number of pages read in February: 4.062
  • Total number of pages read this year: 6.990

Nine books with an extra book finished today is not too bad for this short February month! And the page count is actually over 4.000 which is probably a first… I guess I did have quite a lot of reading time after all, but I was also lucky with my reading choices. Below you can find a list of the books I’ve read so far this year going from favorite to least favorite. One review is still in the process of being written…

Like I said last month, I’m going to do things slightly different this year and include an update for the different challenges I’m participating in as well. That way I won’t be having a dozen update posts wandering around. I’m currently participating in five all-year reading challenges and I’m still trying to fill the gaps in my own challenge as well. I’ve made some progress in most challenges, although I’m still far away from completing any of them… But since all of them run until December, I’m not worrying too much just yet.

# CHALLENGES #

Goodreads Reading Challenge: 17/60
The Official 2015 TBR Pile Challenge: 4/10
Dusting Of The Shelf Reading Challenge: 4/10
Bookish Bingo 2015: 17/45
2015 When Are You Reading? Challenge: 5/12
Reading Through The Centuries Challenge: 4/10

With the other reading and blogging goals I’ve set myself this year I’m less succesful. While I managed to bring down by physical TBR pile a bit, it’s still nowhere close to the 50 mark… So I guess I will try to maintain the book buying ban for now. I still have to start reading books in Spanish and while I came close to the 800 page mark (796!), the fifth HP book wasn’t enough to actually cross off this goal. As far as the blogging goals go, I’ve started updating older reviews, but I still have to finish those I’ve never posted. Fingers crossed I will do better in March!

# OTHER READING/BLOGGING GOALS #

  • Read at least 5 classics: 3/5
  • Finish rereading the Harry Potter series 5/7
  • Complete at least 5 series: 2/5 (The Infernal Devices Trilogy/ Divergent Trilogy)
  • Bring my physical TBR pile below 50 books: 72/50
  • Read at least one book over 800 pages: 0/1 (highest amount: 796 pages)
  • Read at least 5 books in Spanish: 0/5
  • Join at least 5 challenges during the year
  • Finish older reviews that haven’t been posted yet: 0/10
  • Update older reviews to new format: 5/32

Happy March and Happy Reading! 😀
