O.W.L.’s Magical Readathon 2019: It’s A Wrap! #OWLsReadathon2019

I had such a great time participating in this readathon! It started on April 1st and runs the whole month until April 30th… But I’m happy to announce that I’ve been able to complete all twelve O.W.L. exams already with three days to spare! It was a close call, mostly because I had a pile of ARCs I had to go through as well, but I’m happy to have finished all titles in time. Before I continue: if you want to learn more about the readathon, you can hear all about it in Book Roast‘s video below.

I’ve decided to officially go for the Magizoologist carreer this year, which means I will be concentrating on the N.E.W.T.s for Care Of Magical Creatures, Charms, Herbology and Potions when the N.E.W.T.s Readathon goes live in August. First things first though… Below a complete list of the books I read for my O.W.L.s. Covers of the books read for the different Hogwarts subjects are shown first in the order I read them and then marked green with the date I finished them added in the list that follows.

O.W.L.’s Magical Readathon 2019: Mid Exam Progress #OWLsReadathon2019

I’m very excited to be participating in this readathon again! It started on April 1st and runs the whole month until April 30th… Today it’s April 15th which means we are already halfway done with our exams; I thought it was time for a little progress report of how I’ve been doing so far. If you want to learn more about the readathon, you can hear all about it in Book Roast‘s video below!

I’ve decided to narrow it down to two possible careers and then figured I will decide with the N.E.W.T.s which one I will be going for officially this year… Although so far I’m rooting for Magizoologist.

O.W.L.s needed for each career:

Librarian: Ancient Runes // Arithmancy // Defense Against The Dark Arts // History Of Magic // Transfiguration

Magizoologist: Care Of Magical Creatures // Charms // Herbology // Potions

O.W.L.’s Magical Readathon 2019: Sign Up #OWLsReadathon2019

It’s that time of the year again!! I first discovered the Harry Potter themed Magical Readathons last year, all hosted by the wonderful Book Roast. I joined the O.W.L.s late last year, so I’m so excited to be joining this April with everyone else! She also has some surprises in store this year as she has designed the most gorgeous guide and we will all be reading ourselves to a magical career of our choice! ❤ Find out more in her video below.

I’m very excited to be joining this readathon again, which is starting April 1st and will run the whole month until April 30th. I also earned five extra days for the Charms exam with a previous Christmas readathon hosted last year… Which basically means I can start reading my Charms title on March 27th already and have extra time for the other ones.

I have said it before but the wizarding career guide is so freaking gorgeous! There are so many careers to choose from and I had a hard time just choosing one… So I’ve decided to narrow it down to two, try and read all the O.W.L.s for both and pospone the decision until August when the next N.E.W.T.s readathon is hosted. So which careers did I pick? It was really REALLY hard narrowing it down, but in the end it’s between Librarian and Magizoologist for me. Librarian because I love books and I would love to spend my time in a magical library. And Magizoologist because I love animals and I would love travelling the world seeing all those magical creatures.

O.W.L.s needed for each career:

Librarian: Ancient Runes // Arithmancy // Defense Against The Dark Arts // History Of Magic // Transfiguration

Magizoologist: Care Of Magical Creatures // Charms // Herbology // Potions

Sadly none of the O.W.L.s overlap, so this means I will have to read at least 9 books in total to be able to still have a choice between both careers when the readathon ends. So what will I read for each prompt? A tentative TBR:

Magical Readathon: Christmas At Hogwarts: TBR

I’ve been loving my time with Book Roast‘s Harry Potter themed Magical Readathons, so of course I just HAD to join her newest upcoming readathon as well (I actually signed up last month). This one sounds superfun! It’s a Christmas themed readathon running from December 17th to December 26th, and we get to spend Christmas at the most magical place possible: Hogwarts! Everything is explained in her video below:

I love the idea of the map and each of use being able to choose our own path to the Christmas feast! The map is below as well as my TBR for the different prompts belonging to the path I’ve chosen.

#1 Finish your coursework – finish your current read

I picked the Spanish version of I Have Lost My Way, Perdimos Nuestro Camino, by Gayle Forman as the current read I will finish for this readathon… Mostly that if I want to finish Outlander first it will take me ages still. xD

#2 Have a snowball fight with the Weasley twins – a book you think will be humorous

Sorry Not Sorry by Sophie Ranald is supposed to be a ‘laugh-out-loud romantic comedy’ and sounds like the perfect summer read and title to fit the prompt. The fact I can cross off another ARC on my list early is of course a bonus. 😉

#3 Visit 3 Broomsticks for muller pixie wine – a read that should only take you a day/evening

I’ve been meaning to read more Christmas themed reads and I’ve been looking forward to read more of Fredrik Backman, so I thought this Christmas themed novella The Deal Of A Lifetime was a perfect fit.

#4 Sneak into the kitchen to gift dobby odd socks – read that has an item of clothing on the cover

Another Christmas themed read and a story I’ve been meaning to pick up ever since I read an ARC version of the third book of the series… A Boy Called Christmas by Matt Haig.

#5 Put on your knitted sweater from Molly Weasley – read with present parents or a focus on family

I’ve been looking forward to continue this series by Seanan McGuire ever since I read and loved the first book earlier this year. Since the sequel Down Among The Sticks And Bones is about twin sisters Jack and Jill and their family, it seems to be a perfect fit for this prompt.

#6 Attend the Christmas Feast – watch a Harry Potter movie

Easiest prompt ever since I always love rewatching the Harry Potter movies! ❤

Are you joining this readathon? I confess I’m not a big Christmas fan, but this Harry Potter themed readathon sounds like a fun way to spend the days before Christmas in between preparations.

Magical Readathon: Christmas At Hogwarts

I’ve been loving my time with Book Roast‘s Harry Potter themed Magical Readathons, so of course I just HAD to join her newest upcoming readathon as well.

The map is below, and since December 17th is still ages away I’m not creating a TBR just yet. 😉

Below are the requirements for each prompt… In red the prompts I’m 99% I will pick next month, and I’m still not sure whether I want to help Hagrid decorate the trees or have a snowball fight with the Weasley twins. I guess it will depend on whether I find a book with a golden detail on it I want to read. 😉 (Also, I might end up going for the Dobby, Restricted Section option, I still haven’t decided…)

# Finish your coursework – finish your current read
# Help Hagrid decorate the trees – book with a golden detail
# Have a snowball fight with the Weasley twins – a book you think will be humorous
# Visit 3 Broomsticks for muller pixie wine – a read that should only take you a day/evening
# Exchange presents at your Common Room – read featuring/about friendship
# Sneak into the kitchen to gift dobby odd socks – read that has an item of clothing on the cover
# Attend a Yule Ball – book you’ve been preparing yourself for
# Fly around snowy Hogwarts grounds – building on the cover
#Put on your knitted sweater from Molly Weasley – read with present parents or a focus on family
#Use your Invisibility Cloak to get to the Restricted Section of the Hogwarts Library – read a banned book
# Bring a festive treat to Hedwig at the Owlery – animal on the cover/title/series name
# Attend the Christmas Feast – watch a Harry Potter movie (optional)

Are you joining this readathon? I confess I’m not a big Christmas fan, but this Harry Potter themed readathon sounds like a fun way to spend the days before Christmas in between preparations.

Magical Readathon: #CharmsExtraCredit: THE RESULTS

Remember I joined the Magical Readathon: Charms Extra Credit Readathon last week? Guess what, it’s already over and it’s time to see how things went. This readathon ran from October 8th to October 14th and was about earning extra credits for the Hogwarts subject Charms. A bonus: if you are joining the O.W.L.s next year, you were granted an extra day for each prompt you finished to start reading your book for Charms early next year.

So how well did I? It wasn’t easy, but I managed to complete all five spells! So that means an extra five days to read my book for the Charms prompt in the O.W.L. Readathon next April… Fingers crossed I’ll be able to join since it’s still miles away haha.

  • Alohamora (read a book that’s first in a series) REBOOT BY AMY TINTERA
  • Accio (book that’s top of your TBR) THE DARKNESS BY RAGNAR JONASSON
  • Incendio (words ‘fire’ or ‘flame’ in the title/series name, or flame picture on the cover) ONE DARK NIGHT BY TOM BALE
  • Rictusempra (book that ‘tickles you the right way’ (exciting trope/theme/genre)) CLOSER BY K.L. SLATER
  • Lumos (book with a light cover) LOVE & GELATO BY JENNA EVANS WELCH

Did you join this readathon? Have you read any of the titles above yourself?

Magical Readathon: Charms Extra Credit

After joining the O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s Readathon during the last two months, of course I had to jump at the opportunity to finally join a Readathon on time along with all the rest of the Hogwarts students. When I first heard about this week long readathon for extra credits for the Hogwarts subject Charms, I thought it was an excellent idea. A bonus: if you are joining the O.W.L.s next year, you can win an extra day for each prompt you finish now to start reading your book for Charms early next year. More about this readathon in the video below:

The readathon will run from October 8th to October 14th, and while I’m not sure if I will be able to read all five of the prompts, I will be looking forward to give it a try. Here is my TBR for this readathon:
