Month In Review: March 2016

monthinreviewmarch2016

March was quite a busy month with a short trip to Uruguay, a wedding and my birthday taking away a lot of my reading time, but somehow I still managed to read more than I expected. A few rainy days and quite a lot of quick reads made it possible to almost reach the halfway mark of my Goodreads goal already! 😀 And since down here in Argentina it’s Autumn right now, I’m sure the colder (and sometimes wet) weather will help me read a lot more in the months to come.

  • Number of books read in March: 18 (+1 reread)
  • Total number of books read this year: 47 (+1 reread)
  • Total number of pages read in March: 5.581
  • Total number of pages read this year: 14.791

I managed to read a lot of books in the end in March, but none of them received a rating higher than 4 stars. In fact, 11 books received a 3 star rating or below, with one of them even being my first DNF ever. All in all quite disappointing; I’m keeping my fingers crossed next month’s reads will be better! On the brighter side: I’m right on track with my book reviews, which is a small miracle by itself. Some of them haven’t been posted yet, but are already scheduled. 😉

A new year means new challenges… I decided to join in total four yearly challenges this time, and so far I’m right on track with all of them.  Hopefully I will be able to keep this up! 😀

# CHALLENGES #

As for my other blogging goals… I haven’t been paying a lot of attention to them and only managed to squeeze in my first reread of 2016. My TBR pile is still hopeless and I should work on those classics, Spanish reads and older reviews… My running has been put on hold temporarily until my knee agrees to behave again, but hopefully I will be working on my 5km goal again some time this month.

# OTHER READING/BLOGGING GOALS #

  • Read at least 5 classics (rereads don’t count): 0/5
  • Complete at least 5 series (rereads don’t count): 3/5 (the murder complex/never never/veronica mars)
  • Reread at least 3 books: 1/3 (red queen)
  • Bring my physical TBR pile below 200 books: 285/200
  • Read at least one book over 800 pages: 0/1 (longest book 608 pages)
  • Read at least 5 books in Spanish: 1/5
  • Join at least 5 challenges during the year
  • Finish older reviews that haven’t been posted yet: 4/10
  • Update older reviews to new format: 4/14
  • Reach 5km running! 2300m/5000m

Happy April and Happy Reading!

Month In Review: March 2015

monthinreviewmar2015

March came and went away too fast… I cannot believe it’s already April and I’m one year older! So far it’s still nice and warm outside, but it already shows that the Autumn months are just around the corner. I hate the cold, but it does mean I can look forward to a lot of cold nights curled up in my favorite chair with a steaming cup of coffee and a good book… One of my favorite things to do during winter. 😀 The hot weather last month didn’t prevent me from reading though, and I was able to reach both a higher page count and number of finished books than the first two months of 2015. Yay! Looks like I’m well ahead of schedule…

  • Number of books read in March: 11
  • Total number of books read this year: 28
  • Total number of pages read in March: 4.145
  • Total number of pages read this year: 11.135

With eleven (and the twelfth almost finished) books March was probably one of my best reading months so far, especially with a page count this high. I guess I set my Goodreads goal way too low with ‘only’ 60 books, because after only three months I’m almost halfway done with the challenge! I was able to read a lot of great books in March, with only one I truly didn’t enjoy. Below you can find a list of the books I’ve read so far this year going from favorite to least favorite. One review is still in the process of being written and will most likely be published tomorrow…

Like I said before, this year I’m doing things slightly different and I’m including an update for the different challenges I’m participating in as well. That way I won’t be having a dozen update posts wandering around. 😉 I’m still participating in five all-year reading challenges as well as my own challenge. I’ve again made progress in most challenges, so I’m not too worried about not being able to complete them just yet.

# CHALLENGES #

Goodreads Reading Challenge: 28/60
The Official 2015 TBR Pile Challenge: 6/10
Dusting Of The Shelf Reading Challenge: 6/10
Bookish Bingo 2015: 23/45
2015 When Are You Reading? Challenge: 7/12
Reading Through The Centuries Challenge: 6/10

The other reading and blogging goals I have been neglecting quite a bit to be honest. The classics and HP series is going well; the first I will complete this month because I’m currently reading A Tale Of Two Cities, and with only the last HP book left I will be able to complete that goal as well. I have made my own TBR pile goal instantaneously impossible after going on a ebook buying spree for my shiny new kindle I got for my birthday… So I will just ignore that goal from now on haha. 😉 Still no Spanish books, and I doubt I will read one this month… I’m just not in the mood for it so far. And as far as the older reviews go, I should probably do a review-a-thon later this month so I finally come around completing at least a few of those. Who knows?!

# OTHER READING/BLOGGING GOALS #

  • Read at least 5 classics: 4/5
  • Finish rereading the Harry Potter series 6/7
  • Complete at least 5 series: 2/5 (The Infernal Devices Trilogy/ Divergent Trilogy)
  • Bring my physical TBR pile below 50 books: 192/50
  • Read at least one book over 800 pages: 0/1 (highest amount: 796 pages)
  • Read at least 5 books in Spanish: 0/5
  • Join at least 5 challenges during the year
  • Finish older reviews that haven’t been posted yet: 0/10
  • Update older reviews to new format: 6/32
