WWW Wednesdays #29 – March 4th

wwwwednesdaysOriginally featured at Should Be Reading and now hosted by Sam at Taking On A World Of Words, WWW WEDNESDAYS is still about answering the following three questions:

  • What are you currently reading?

thecoldwifeI’ve just started The Cold Wife by Ruth Ann Nordin yesterday, so I cannot say too much about the story yet. I didn’t realize this one is actually a sequel, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed it won’t be a problem. It’s supposed to be a historical fiction and romance novel, but I am afraid this one will end up being too much of a cheesy romance for me to handle… I guess I will find out soon enough when I have more free time to read.

  • What did you recently finish reading?

nakedindeaththehitchhikersguidethroughgalaxyI’ve finished Naked In Death by J.D. Robb yesterday and I must say the plot is definitely interesting. It is a crime/mystery novel set in the future, and that makes it stand out from other novels in that genre. I liked the main characters Eve and Roarke, although I’m not a fan of the romance scenes… A full review will be posted later this week. I also finished The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams a few days ago, but unfortunately I didn’t like that one that much. I know a lot of people seem to love this classic, but I just couldn’t get into the story. Maybe a case of not-for-me?

  • What do you think you’ll read next?

gardensofthemoonirobotI’m going to keep repeating myself and keep Gardens Of The Moon by Steven Erikson as my next read… Maybe I should just kick myself and finally read it, because this one has been on the top of my TBR pile for way too long now.  Although I might read I, Robot by Isaac Asimov first…

WWW Wednesdays #28 – February 25th

wwwwednesdaysOriginally featured at Should Be Reading and now hosted by Sam at Taking On A World Of Words, WWW WEDNESDAYS is still about answering the following three questions:

  • What are you currently reading?

doctorsleepI’m currently about half way into Doctor Sleep by Stephen King, the sequel to the famous The Shining novel. I loved reading the first book last year and I’m excited to be visiting Danny Torrance and his special powers again. The book is awesome so far, and I absolutely love the Abra character! I have a feeling this one will get a high rating…

  • What did you recently finish reading?

thesecretgardentheoceanattheendofthelaneI’m finished The Ocean At The End Of The Lane by Neil Gaiman the other week and I absolutely loved this adult fantasy story with magical realism elements. I’ve just posted my full review! Last Sunday I finally finished reading The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett as well. I’m ashamed to admit it’s my first read of this story…  I didn’t understand every Yorkshire line, but I loved the fact that it will hopefully inspire children to explore the world outside! A full review will be posted tomorrow…

  • What do you think you’ll read next?

gardensofthemoonGardens Of The Moon by Steven Erikson is still waiting for me next… I have been wanting to read this one for ages now, so maybe I should just kick myself and finally read it. Although I might be tempted by another novel when I finish my current read…

  • What are you currently reading?

theoceanattheendofthelanethesecretgardenI’m about to finish The Ocean At The End Of The Lane by Neil Gaiman, and I must say I’m absolutely loving this adult fantasy story with magical realism elements. I have a feeling this one will have a high rating! And since I’m going to start The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett today, I’m counting this classic as one of my current reads as well. This one is part of my TBR pile challenge and I’m looking forward finally reading it.

  • What did you recently finish reading?

beautifulruinsI finished Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter the other day, and I cannot say I’m impressed much. I enjoyed the chapters set in Italy; the descriptions just made me want to travel to Italy straight away. The other chapters: a lot of cliches, too much romance involved… Not that good. A full review will be posted later this week.

  • What do you think you’ll read next?

gardensofthemoonI will probably finally give in and read Gardens Of The Moon by Steven Erikson. I have been wanting to read this one for ages now, and I guess it is about time I read it. Although I might end up reading a mystery/thriller/crime novel instead…

14064My TBR jar this time gave me a better result with I Am Legend. This classic horror/SF story is more my cup of tea and I’m enjoying this novel by Richard Matheson so far. If I can find some free time today, I will probably finish it since it’s quite a short story!

  • What did you recently finish reading?

clockworkprinceclockworkprincessAfter first having read Clockwork Prince, I just HAD to read the final book in The Infernal Devices trilogy straight away. I mean, after the bombs Cassandra Clare drops on us in the last pages of book two, I just HAD to know what was going to happen next. Clockwork Princess did have too much romance in it for my taste, but I’m still glad to have finished my first series (trilogy) this year!

  • What do you think you’ll read next?

gonegirlgardensofthemoonI will probably either read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn or Gardens Of The Moon by Steven Erikson. I’ve been wanting to read both titles for ages now, and I think it is about time I finally pick them up.

Top Ten Tuesday #6 – August 26th: Books I Need To Get Soon!

toptentuesday

The Broke And The Bookish presents us every week a new top ten with a different theme. And this Tuesday’s theme is the Top Ten Books I Really Want To Read But Don’t Own Yet. When I first saw this theme, I was mostly thinking: Seriously, only ten? My need-to-get-soon list at Goodreads has about 40 titles on it alone, and I haven’t updated that one that recently. I’ve tried to make a selection for this Top Ten Tuesday though:

tttaugust26nr2

tttaugust26nr3

Which of these have you read already and can you recommend to me? Any books I should buy first?

Friday Finds #7 – August 15th

fridayfinds

First something that I found this morning when I went to check on the kittens and their mother… A tiny kitty mountain, too cute!! ❤

gatitosOn to the bookish part of this post.… FRIDAY FINDS is originally featured at Should Be Reading and showcases the most interesting books I’ve encountered this week and added to my neverending TBR list on Goodreads.  I know the list is already exploding, but I can’t help myself and don’t want to miss any potential treasures. So I’ve just accepted the TBR list will always be bigger than the amount of books I’ve read… Sigh. These two weeks haven’t been good for finding new books because of the read-a-thon which is actually ending today, but I found some books worth mentioning. They are listed below:
