Magical Readathon: O.W.L. Edition – Update Post

The other day I posted about joining the Magical Readathon: O.W.L. Edition here, a readathon and Harry Potter inspired challenge created and hosted by Book Roast back in April. I’m late to the party, but that doesn’t mean I’m any less excited; especially since I’m planning to do the N.E.W.T.s either next month or in October as well!

I’ve decided to do a separate update post so I can track my progress in one place… I’ve still not decided on my fictional career after Hogwarts, but since I’m a Ravenclaw all knowledge is welcome I guess. 😉 I’m planning on passing at least eight O.W.L.s out of the twelve, so I can pick my N.E.W.T.s more freely in the next challenge.

Since the original readathon went from April 2nd till April 29th, only books finished between August 2nd and August 29th will count for this challenge.

My TBR for the readathon (some of the titles might be changed later on; for Charms I was originally going to read Hero At The Fall, but I saw that I needed it for a N.E.W.T. so I’m saving it for next month). Those that are check-marked I have managed to pass already.

Bout Of Books 16.0 – Day 6 Update

Day 6 of the Bout Of Books 16.0 was another great day and I made it both to the 2.000 page mark and 6 finished books! Yay! This has definitely been a very successful read-a-thon so far. I’m not sure if I will be able to finish Dumplin’ today since I have over 300 pages left, but I’m going to give it a try. 😉

Bout Of Books 16.0 – Day 4 Update

Day 4 of the Bout Of Books 16.0 was another great reading day and I managed to finish both my third book and I made good progress with Leaving Time (I’m at 68% now). I’ve also started with Stars Above, although I will only be reading those novellas I haven’t read last year… I skipped number two and three (Glitches and The Queen’s Army), so that explains the high page count for that book. 😉

Bout Of Books 15.0 – Day 6 Update

Both books I already started on day 5 or before, Dark Places and Never Always Sometimes, don’t fully convince me. I don’t want to start another one, so for now I have decided to continue Never Always Sometimes first. I read about 65% of it during day 6 of Bout Of Books 15.0, so hopefully I will be able to finish it today. As for Dark Places: I don’t think I will finish that one before the end of today. It turns out to be quite a slow read and I really don’t like the characters. I’m only continuing to see what really happened with the Day family…

Bout Of Books 15.0 – Day 5

Confessions Of A Murder Suspect was such a fast read that I managed to read a lot of pages on day 5 of Bout Of Books 15.0. I picked up a copy of on Fantastic Mr. Fox as well on a whim, written by one of my favorite childhood authors Roald Dahl. I still can’t believe I haven’t read that one before! I don’t really like the characters of Dark Places, so  I have been struggling with that one… And decided to pick up Never Always Sometimes and see today which of the two I want to finish first.
