Originally featured at Should Be Reading and now hosted by Sam at Taking On A World Of Words, WWW WEDNESDAYS is still about answering the following three questions:
- What are you currently reading?
I’ve decided to continue my HP series reread and I’m currently reading the fifth book: Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix. This is probably my least favorite of the bunch, mostly caused by Umbridge, but I’m enjoying travelling back to the magical world of Harry Potter anyway. I’ve also started to rad Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter, a historical fiction/romance novel that will be perfect to get in the mood for Valentine’s day. Or so I hope; I’m keeping my fingers crossed it’s not too cheesy…
- What did you recently finish reading?
I’ve finished Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia the other day, and I must say I absolutely loved it! A magical Caster family with a curse, a teenage girl trying to escape her fate… The dose of romance was just right, and this is one of my favorite YA fantasy reads so far. Review coming soon! I also finished The Catcher In The Rye, a classic I unfortunately wasn’t able to enjoy the way I thought I would… This novel by J.D. Salinger just didn’t convince me.
- What do you think you’ll read next?
Again, I’m still not sure what to read next… I will probably read something romance related for Valentine’s day depending on how long I take to finish my current reads, but other than that I don’t have a clue what to pick.
I’m happy you enjoyed Beautiful Creatures. That’s one of my favorite series.

I’m going to buy a copy of Beautiful Darkness ASAP so I can continue reading the series! Beautiful Creatures definitely is one of my favorite reads so far this year.

I’m doing an HP re-read also! I just started Goblet of Fire 🙂 I also LOVE the Beautiful Creatures series. Southern Gothic has always appealed to me.

Ahh Goblet Of Fire! Way better than the fifth book for sure, but I’m still enjoying the reread… I’m actually discovering a lot of little details I didn’t remember. 😀 And I NEED to buy the rest of the Caster Chronicles books ASAP, the first book was just TOO good.

It’s funny, but no matter how many times I read them, I seem to discover something new. I hope you enjoy the Caster Chronicles. There’s a second series now featuring Ridley 🙂

Ah interesting! It might be interesting to see the facts from Ridley’s point of view…

Thank god you enjoyed Beautiful Creatures—it’s gotten some pretty bad reviews that almost convinced me to not read it. 🙂

It’s definitely worth reading if you like YA fantasy series!

I’ve never read the Harry Potter series (well I did last month read the first book). Hopefully by the end of this year I’ll have them all read. I’ve been kind of wanting to read Beautiful Creatures. I always see it in recommended books and always go back and forth with wanting to and not.

It’s never too late to start reading them! 😉 I personally loved Beautiful Creatures, mostly because the references to the Civil War and the magical elements… If you like reading YA fantasy, you will probably enjoy Beautiful Creatures as well.

I think I’ll finally read it at some point this year along with the rest of the Harry Potter books. 🙂

“The Order of the Phoenix” is also my last favorite book of the series. I think it is pretty dark and gloomy. Nevertheless, I also think it is very important for the whole story because it marks a turning point. Harry looses his innocence and understands for the very first time that he will probably die in the fight with Voldemort. This awareness is essential for the following developments. 🙂
Best wishes,
Elli

Yeah, that is definitely true. The end of book four and book five as a whole mark a turning point in the story… I still hate Umbridge, but the book has a purpose. 😉

I’m always a fan of the HP series! Great choice for a re-read. I’m going through them slowly. Thanks for joining in with WWW Wednesday!

The rest of the series is just as good as Beautiful Creatures? I will probably buy the other books ASAP.

I think Order of the Phoenix is most people’s least favorite of the HP books! But I love them all, so it’s all relative. I really loved Beautiful Ruins, although I don’t think of it as particularly romantic. I hope you enjoy it!

I agree, while it is probably my least favorite one of the bunch, the Harry Potter books are still my favorite childhood series. Good to know Beautiful Ruins is not that romantic! I’ve only just started it and I haven’t got a good impression of the book yet, but the low romance factor is definitely good news.

I’m glad you’re still rereading Harry Potter. The fifth book wasn’t my least favorite, that was seven, but five and six weren’t as good as four and earlier.
I saw the Beautiful Creatures movie and it was pretty horrible, but I’m told it’s nothing like the books. I’m glad you liked it.
I debated reading something romantic for Valentines. (for about five seconds and then picked a super powers book)

I don’t remember all the details of the last books, so this reread will help me decide which books I liked better… I do agree that the later books are different/darker than the first few and maybe not as good.
I’m glad I didn’t see the movie haha, it would have stopped me from reading the book for sure… Beautiful Creatures was a great read though, definitely worth it!
And I still haven’t properly started my romance read haha, I prefer finishing my HP reread first. 😉

I’ve walked past Beautiful Creatures every single time I was at the shop, so I’m eager to see what more you have to say about it. Might actually end up picking it up now! x

I love Harry Potter and did a reread last year and loved it. Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire is my favorite book. I have the whole Beautiful Creatures series on my shelf and happy to hear that you though it was great. Looking forward to reading your review. I am mainly reading Romance this month in honor of Valentine’s Day. But I usually don’t read a book if it doesn’t have a least a hint of romance.
