WWW WEDNESDAYS is hosted by Sam at Taking On A World Of Words and is all about answering the three questions below.
- WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?
I’ve started both my current reads yesterday evening… The first is an ARC: Americosis Vol. 2 by Haydn Wilks. Since it’s a short story I will most likely finish it later today. The second is The Kill Order by James Dashner. I’m not exactly a big fan of the rest of the series (especially the last book was a mayor disappointment), but since people keep saying this one is actually better than the main series I decided to start it anyway. So far it’s quite a fast read.
- WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
I actually finished Queen Of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas before my failed trip, but I decided to count it anyway. I loved this fourth book of the Throne Of Glass series and I will be waiting impatiently for the next book… Although I’m grateful the ending wasn’t the mayor cliffhanger I was expecting. The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski turned out to be a disappointment though. It had a really slow pace and I had the feeling the story could have been told with less pages. Most of the plot was quite cliche or at least predictable and I’m not sure I like the characters or prose for that matter. More of my complaints in the full review…
- WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?
I have Firebolt by Adrienne Woods, an ARC, lined up as one of my next reads. I might read And The Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini or Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver first though, depending on what genre I’m in the mood for when I finish my current reads. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is my newest TBR jar pick; a title I have been wanting to read for ages now and can’t wait to start soon!
I recommend you read And The Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hossein. You’re gonan love it. Happy reading!

I loved his other books so I’m really looking forward to it… I think it’s the title that has been on my TBR pile the longest; I still don’t know why I haven’t read it sooner. Happy reading!

I’ll be interested to see what you make of The Kill Order – I might get it from the library if it is better than the rest of the series. I’m glad you liked Queen of Shadows. I hadn’t thought about it, but you’re right about the ending being pleasingly cliff-hanger free.
I hope you enjoy The Night Circus – I had mixed feelings about it, but it is very well written and the descriptions of the circus are fabulous.

So far The Kill Order is ok, although it doesn’t really add something to the series. At least it’s a fast read so far. I remember reading your review of The Night Circus and I will make sure not to read it with too high expectations… I’m really looking forward to the prose!

The Kill Order felt like an unnecessary addition to me, and I didn’t like it. I love The Winner’s Trilogy and book 2 almost made me cry. I enjoyed Vanishing Girls also. Happy reading!

I wasn’t going to read The Kill Order first, but since I already had the copy I decided to just finish the series. I guess The Winner’s Trilogy just isn’t for everyone… It has too much romance/slow pace/cliches to my taste but I can see why other people would love it. I’m really looking forward to Vanishing Girls though. Happy reading!

Good luck with The Night Circus, I don’t think it’s a book for everyone but I hope you enjoy it!

I’ve heard it’s not the easiest read, but I’m really looking forward to the prose. And I was supposed to be away until November, but one of our small backpacks with documents and creditcards was stolen and we were forced to pospone our trip and return home. 😦

I hope she doesn’t take too long, although I’m really looking forward to the sequel of ACOTAR as well. Those two are definitely on my must-buy list!

Yes! I’m anxiously awaiting the ACOTAR sequel as well!

I read Maze Runner and struggled so hard to finish that book. I probably won’t be continuing on with that series, though like you, I’ve heard people say it gets better. I also am waiting impatiently for the next book in the Throne of Glass series! Here’s my post for this week. Happy reading!

I only continued the series because I already had a copy, if not I probably wouldn’t have. The first two are still ok, but the final book is definitely disappointing. The Throne Of Glass series is a whole different story of course. 😉 Happy reading!

I’m sorry to hear The Winner’s Curse wasn’t all that great. Queen of Shadows doesn’t end on a wicked cliffhanger?! Maybe I should try that series soon…
Night Circus!! I’ve been wanting to read this book forever and never make the time. Can’t wait to see what you think.

Queen Of Shadows doesn’t, although if I remember correctly the others do have some kind of cliffhanger. The Winner’s Curse does have a huge cliffhanger though, which only made me like the book even less. The Night Circus looks really promising!

Another Throne of Glass Fan! I loved Queen of Shadows too. And Um you didn’t like The Winner’s curse huh? Maybe try reading the second book because it certainly gets better. Also.. Pick the Night circus next. It’s a pretty good book. 🙂

I have a copy of The Winner’s Crime, so I might do as you suggest and see if I like the sequel better. The huge cliffhanger ending is sure helping me decide to pick it up soon! The Night Circus will definitely be one of my next reads. 🙂

I do hope The Kill Order is an improvement on the series. Good luck. And The Night Circus is amazing. Hope you love it. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

I’m not too far into The Kill Order but so far it’s mostly about how life is before the experiments. Hopefully it’s better than the last book! And I’m really looking forward to The Night Circus. Happy reading!

I ended up DNFing the entire maze runner series. Kudos to you for continuing because I just could not. I’m glad you enjoyed Queen of Shadows. I’m still pretty behind in the series but I hope to catch up soon. Here my WWW Wednesday!

I can definitely understand why; the series has a lot of flaws and the slang is just plain annoying. Fortunately The Kill Order doesn’t have the slang so far. 😉 Hopefully you will keep enjoying the Throne Of Glass series! There is no rush though with the last two books still left unpublished. 😉

With TOG, I’m just afraid of getting good things spoiled. I’d still read them but spoilers make books less fun.

Yeah, I know what you mean. That’s probably why I decided to read Queen Of Shadows as soon as I got my copy because it has been appearing everywhere for the last month.

It’s too bad you didn’t enjoy The Winner’s Curse, I love the book so I guess I’ll just have to love it for the both of us. The Night Circus is an amazing book, I definitely recommend you pick it up soon!

I guess The Winner’s Curse just isn’t for everyone… Romance, predictable scenes and a slow pace normally turn me off quite easily. I’m between And The Mountains Echoed and The Night Circus for my next read! 🙂
