WWW WEDNESDAYS is hosted by Sam at Taking On A World Of Words and is all about answering the three questions below.
- WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?
I’ve just started reading Takeover by Lisa Black after finally finishing Melophobia last night. I haven’t read a good crime novel in a while, so hopefully this one will turn out to be interesting…
- WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
* The first book I finished since last week is Love And Other Foreign Words by Erin McCahan. This one was a huge disappointment and I still regret not DNFing it.
* I then continued with Liars, Inc. by Paula Stokes. It turned out to be better than expected; entertaining with lots of crazy plot twists, although not amazing.
* The last book I finished last night: Melophobia by James Morris. A very interesting read that shows the power of music in an alternate present.
- WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?
Since I haven’t been reading that much (I’m afraid I’m about to end up in a reading slump, o no!), my possible next reads are the same as last week. The Death Code by Lindsay Cummings or The Young Elites by Marie Lu if I turn out to be in the mood for fantasy; Paperweight by Meg Haston if I want to read YA contemporary; Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman if I want to read my newest TBR jar pick.
Such a shame about Love and Other Foreign Words. If it cheers you up at all, you saved me from reading it and getting very, very annoyed (as another woman married to a native Spanish speaker). I imagine your review will have saved a few people from wasting their time there!
I still haven’t decided which Neil Gaiman I’ll read next, but it’ll probably be either Stardust or Neverwhere. So looking forward to hearing what you think of the latter.

I’m glad other people might not have to suffer through Love And Other Foreign Words; I might have misread the blurb because I was really looking forward to read a story about miscommunication in a relationship because of the language barrier. I guess I will have to find a different book. 😉
I have both Stardust and Neverwhere on my TBR and I’m looking forward to both… Hopefully I will feel like reading Neverwhere soon so I can pick up Stardust after it.

I’m glad Liars, Inc turned out to be better than you expected – I might add this one to my wish list as I do like the sound of it. I have Paperweight on my TBR and really want to read it soon, I’ve heard good things about it.

Liars, Inc. has a lot of crazy plot twists and it has been compared to Gone Girl for that exact reason. It’s not an amazing read, but if you keep your expectations low you will probably end up enjoying it. I’ve heard Paperweight it really sad, but very well written so I’m looking forward to it.

Oh no – reading slumps are the worst!! I’m in one right now. Haven’t settled on a book since Sunday and it’s making me crazy!! I hope you get into a good one.

I think that the fact that I had a lot of 5 star reads earlier last month might have caused the reading slump… I just haven’t been able to find a book that I want to properly sit down for and that hasn’t happened in a long time. I might reread an old favorite to see if I can back on track.

I’m happy I didn’t waste my time with Love and other foreign words. All the luck with getting out of the slump!

People keep recommending Paperweight to me so I might just pick it up once I finish my current reads.

I haven’t ready any of your ‘next’ books yet, but I’ve heard good things about ‘The Young Elites.’ I hope you enjoy whatever you choose. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

I’m looking forward to The Young Elites, although I might try to find something for the 1500-1599 and 1600-1699 era first so I can finish the When Are You Reading? challenge… Who knows, maybe Shakespeare?

Liars, Inc. is quite interesting, although it does suffer from the same overhype as Gone Girl. I’m still trying to find a book that really keeps my attention, but hopefully I will be able to get back on track soon!

I just got out of a slight reading slump. (If we’re honest, it was a life slump.) What I’ve found works best for me is picking something different to read. For me, I’ve found my “different’ is middle grades books because it’s fun.

Different could definitely work! I just started reading Shakespeare’s Hamlet and it sure is refreshing after all those YA novels I have been reading lately…

I saw Melophobia on your GoodReads and it sounds really interesting! All though, I have to admit, I had just watched Muzzled the Musical on youtube so it sort of reminded me of that (I am sure the similarities end at “music as power” but I got a giggle out of it nonetheless).

Melophobia is definitely a very interesting read! The general plot is sort of a mix of Fahrenheit 451 and 1984, but in this case it’s music that is forbidden and regulated. Definitely recommended. I will have to watch Muzzled the Musical on youtube now by the way, you made me curious! 😀
