The Blogger Recognition Award

A huuuuuge thank you to the three awesome bloggers Ashley @ Dear World…, Kenzie @ Bookish Things And Tea and Maren @ The Worn Bookmark for nominating me for this award! ❤ I just LOVE their blogs; make sure to check them out! 😀

This award was originally created by Eve over at Edge of the Night.

RULES:

  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to. Do some digging if you must! Find those blogs. You cannot nominate yourself or the person who has nominated you.
  • Write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers. Thank whoever nominated you, and provide a link to their blog. List who you’ve nominated in the post. Make sure to also attach the award itself! (You can do this by right-clicking, saving, and uploading the image above).
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you’ve nominated them. Provide a link to the award post you created.
  • Provide a link to the original post on Edge of Night. That way, anyone can find the original guidelines and post if needed, and we can keep it from mutating and becoming confusing!

So here’s the story of how I started blogging! I actually started out with a different blog a few years ago called Ponderings On Life where I posted poems, part of a story I was writing at that time and general thoughts on life. (I was actually a bit depressed back then and used my blog as self-therapy…) I haven’t updated that blog in years though… I guess it’s harder for me to write poems when I’m happy. 😀

I started book blogging back in November 2012, although I didn’t directly start with WordPress. Back then I made a simple blog that was mostly a way of keeping track of the books I was reading and I wrote short reviews to help me remember what I thought of them. I found out I really enjoyed book blogging and decided to set up my WordPress account a few months later. It’s All About Books was born! The first few months were a bit slow as I was still finding my place in the book blogging community. But slowly I found a way to improve my blog and I started getting more involved. Since that day I’ve met so many amazing fellow book bloggers and blogs and I’m so glad to be a part of all this! I’ve read tons of books, written hundreds of posts and commented even more. And more is still to come! As long as I have a pile of books and an internet connection, I will keep blogging in the future. 😀

I don’t see myself as a ‘professional’ blogger, but I guess these tips might help new bloggers:

  • The most important think about book blogging is to have fun! Try to not stress out over deadlines or books you haven’t read or reviews that you still haven’t finished. Stress is what makes you end up in a blogging slump, or even worse: a reading slump. Just writing reviews might tire you, so it might be an idea to find a book meme or book tag to participate in. Or a discussion even! Other book bloggers will love talking about books as much as you do. 😀
  • One thing I found out the hard way is that the best way to really feel at home in the book blogging community and start getting more followers is to comment. Start interacting with fellow bloggers; tell them what you think about a certain book or that you what to read certain title as well. Everybody loves comments! I always try to reply back myself; it’s a great way of sharing your love for books and find more people who love the same books as you do!

I nominate the following people: EVERYONE! I think any blogger that loves books as much as I do every much deserves this award.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Creative Blogger Award

img_3267During the last few days I have been nominated for the Creative Blogger Award by no less than four awesome bloggers! Thank you Ashley @ Dear World…, Alina @ Radiant Reads, Maren @ The Worn Bookmark and Alyssa @ Under Review!

poster-moment-awesome-you-are

I always love visiting their blogs, so if you haven’t checked them out so far, you should! 😀

The Rules:

  • Nominate 15-20 blogs and notify all nominees via their social media/blogs
  • Thank and post the link of the blog that nominated you (very important)
  • Share 5 facts about yourself to your readers
  • Pass these rules on to them

Ok, I found it almost impossibly hard to come up with completely new facts since most other blog awards also ask for facts… But I think that in the end I came up with five that are at least partly newish.

1. hallkitchenMy favorite color is blue and I even used it to decorate our home! I also love using black and white, and it shows. 😀 I couldn’t find many good pics, but here are two of the entry and kitchen… And yes, even my cats eat their food out of a blue bowl. 😀

2.browniealfajor I’ve always loved cooking and baking, and I spend a lot of time trying out new recipes. I’ve mentioned my favorite brownie recipe before, and recently I’ve managed to make my own alfajores! An alfajor is a Latin American sweet which is basically two cookies with caramel (dulce de leche) in the middle and covered in chocolate (and in this case sprinkled with coconut). So delicious!

3. kayakI’ve only ‘discovered’ kayaking after I started dating my hubby, but I absolutely fell in love with this sport. Kayaking is so relaxing and I love being in the water. There is a river crossing the town where I live, so plenty of water to go rowing. We always try to use the kayaks every time the weather is good enough, even during winter when it’s not too cold! 😀

butterfly88tattooo4. I’m not sure if I have mentioned it before, but I have a tattoo on my left shoulder. I got it a little over three years ago; It’s an 88 butterfly with the words carpe diem under it. The butterfly actually exists! I was born in 1988 and both the butterfly and the latin text represent my love for traveling and that life is too short to forget enjoying the present…

5. Lomogram_2015-03-30_02-38-37-PMMost people already know I’m what you call a crazy cat lady, but I couldn’t help myself and show off my newest addition anyway. Meet Tommy! Completely different from his mother both in appearance and character… Although I’m not sure that last one is a good thing haha. He’s a little devil in disguise this one.

And this is were I’ve become lazy and won’t continue this post with my nominations… This award has been everywhere during the last week and I don’t think there are many left that haven’t been nominated. And since all book blogs spreading book love are awesome, consider yourself nominated! 😀 ❤

The Book Awards 2015: Nominations

a subtitle too (2) Michelle at The Writing Hufflepuff had the great idea to host The Book Awards; an award show ‘like the Oscars, but for books’! Please check out her blog and the award post to find out all about it and nominate your own favorite books!

I’ve decided to put together my own little post with nominations for a selection of her categories (mostly genres). I’ve included a short blurb from Goodreads that will take you straight to the book’s Goodreads page!

And now *drumroll* it is time to start nominating!

Versatile Blogger Award

img_2268

I promised myself I wasn’t going to do any blog award memes anymore and just thank everybody in my general Nominations & Thanks post… But no less than four awesome bloggers have nominated me in the last few days, so I thought why not share the love?! Thank you Sheetal @ Dreaming WordzAlina @ Radiant ReadsMaren @ The Worn Bookmark and Reckless Indulgence for the nominations!! 😀 ❤

poster-moment-awesome-you-are The rules of the award are:
1. Show the award on your blog.
2. Thank the person who nominated you.
3. Share seven facts about yourself.
4. Nominate 15 blogs.

I’m going to cheat and nominate all of you!! Thanks to the enormous amount of amazing book bloggers this community has been like the home away from home… Thanks for giving me the inspiration to keep reading and blogging! You guys rock!! ❤

On to the seven facts…

  1. I LOVE cooking and baking. I love experimenting with different foods from different cultures and normally don’t follow recipes unless I’m trying to cook something specific. My hubby doesn’t seem to complain hehe. I love anything curry and one of my favorite recipes would be this awesome mint oreo brownie. Soooo delicious, I wish I had a few pieces right now to go with my capuccino. 😉
  2. petsI love animals and I currently own a dog and six cats! Although four of those are little kittens born only two weeks ago and I will only keep one. 😉 My inlaws next door have another dog, so things are getting crowded outside haha. From top to bottom are Jazmin, the mother of Sienna below and the little kittens to the right. (The black one is a male, so I’m going to keep him, yay!) Then we have Paco, who we should have named Tornado or something; he is about 6 months old and totally destructive. Lastly is Pini who is owned by my inlaws…
  3. Sadly enough, I read more e-books than actual books… It’s not easy and rather expensive to buy paperback/hardback copies of English novels in Argentina, so I normally stick with the digital version. Sometimes I wish I would move to an English speaking country with my hubby just so I can buy more books! 😉
  4. My favorite color is blue and it shows; I even painted a few walls blue at home. 😀
  5. I hate the cold winter months! I can handle a one or two week vacation with snow, but anything longer than that and I will probably end up frozen solid. I’m the kind of person who has to wear three pairs of everything when the temperature drop below zero.
  6. I have lousy ankles and knees after playing too much volleyball when I was younger, but I’ve set myself a goal to participate in a 5KM run by the end of the year anyway. Wish me luck! 😉
  7. I’ve always wanted to learn how to play the guitar, but I’m a leftie and it’s not easy to find a teacher. I’m also a terrible singer, so even if I do learn to play, I wouldn’t be able to sing along.

One Lovely Blog Award

olb-award

Romance Novels For The Beach and Anna @Friendlybookworm both nominated me for the One Lovely Blog Award last week… Thank you so much to both! I truly appreciate it; you guys rock! 😀 ❤

On to the Rules:

  • You must thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog.
  • You must list the rules and display the award.
  • You must add 7 facts about yourself.
  • You must nominate 5-15 other bloggers and comment on one of their posts to let them know they’ve been nominated.
  • You must display the award logo and follow the blogger who nominated you.

Seven facts about myself:

1. I use both this blog and reading English books as a way to keep up with my English, especially now I live in a Spanish speaking country… English is not my mother tongue. 😉

2. I’m not the typical girly girl, and I have to confess I dislike anything romance. Especially movies, I just can’t stand them… I do enjoying reading some books in the romance genre, but they are mostly exceptions. I tend to tolerate them as long as they aren’t too overly cheesy.

3. I love animals in general, but I am what you can call a crazy cat lady. 😀 My cat Jazmin gave birth to three kittens last month and they are totally adorable! ❤

kitties

4. I don’t cry in general when I read books. No, my heart is not made of stone, but I guess I just process the things I read in a different way… I don’t cry a lot in general either. 😉

5. I’m a late coffee bloomer, and only started to drink coffee about two years ago. AlthoughWP_002627 I have to mix it with a lot of sugar and/or milk to be able to enjoy it, I especially came to love cappuccino… Like the steaming mug of cappuccino that is in front of me right now.

6. My mind is what you can call quite chaotic, and I tend to forget things or misplace objects… It explains the abundancy of lists at It’s All About Books; it helps me keep more organized. 😉

7. I love anything crafty, and I’m always trying to invent and make new things to decorate my home… The latest thing I made were string lamp shades pictured to the right. 😀

Boy, there are so many great book blogs out there! It was incredibly hard to narrow it down to just 15 awesome blogs and bloggers… My nominations are listed below, although I would have liked to nominate every book blogger out there, you are all awesome! 😀

(For those I’ve nominated, please don’t feel obligated to participate if you don’t want to…)
