Whoa, it’s June already?! The last 31 days have just flown away and it’s getting seriously cold down here in Argentina. I really don’t like those cold winter months, but I do seem to get a lot of reading done as it gets colder… Although my cat Sienna is never far away when I try to read, demanding attention. ❤ This means I have actually surpassed my original Goodreads goals, yay! 😀 The page count wasn’t as high as last month though… Which is probably because I’ve started working on my own knitted multicolor bedspread and I’ve been neglecting my reading for the last two weeks. I’ll need about 200 squares to finish it, so I will be busy for quite some time haha. But just look at all those pretty colors! ❤
- Number of books read in May: 18
- Total number of books read this year: 63
- Total number of pages read in May: 5.456
- Total number of pages read this year: 22.810
May sure wasn’t a bad month, and I was able to read no less than 18 books. I guess the Bout Of Books read-a-thon was a big help as well… I wasn’t as lucky as last month though with my reading choices as you can see below. I ended up rating quite a few books with 3 stars or less, and only three of them were 4,5 or 5 stars… Hopefully next month will be better! Four reviews are still pending and will be uploaded within the next week or so.
- Angelfall – by Susan Ee (5/5)
- World After – by Susan Ee (4,5/5)
- Unwind – by Neal Shusterman (4,5/5)
- Don’t Tell Mummy – by Toni Maguire (4/5)
- Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore – by Robin Sloan (4/5)
- Reel Or Real: The Video Store Murders – by Joyce Nance (4/5)
- Tease – by Amanda Maciel (4/5)
- The Wicked Will Rise – by Danielle Paige (3,5/5)
- The Story Of Awkward – by R.K. Ryals (3,5/5)
- A Thousand Pieces Of You – by Claudia Gray (3/5)
- No Place Like Oz – by Danielle Paige (3/5)
- Warm Bodies – by Isaac Marion (3/5)
- Shiver – by Maggie Stiefvater (3/5)
- Falling Into Place – by Amy Zhang (3/5)
- City Of Ashes – by Cassandra Clare (3/5)
- Hide ‘N Seek – by Yvonne Harriot (2,5/5)
- Treasure Island – by Robert Louis Stevenson (2/5)
- A Twist In The Tale – by Jeffrey Archer (1,5/5)
Like I said before, this year I’m doing things slightly different and I’m including an update for the different challenges I’m participating in as well. That way I won’t be having a dozen update posts wandering around. 😉 In May I was able to finish both the Goodreads challenge and the Reading Through The Centuries challenge! 😀 I’ve actually reset the Goodreads challenge to 90 books the other day since it’s still so early in the year… I’ve made progress with both Bookish Bingo challenges as well, so things are looking good. I’ve included a picture of my progress in both Bookish Bingo challenges as well; to the left the Bookish Bingo 2015 challenge and below the Bookish Bingo Ready For Spring challenge. Only four titles missing for a full bingo on the second one, yay! 😀
# CHALLENGES #
Goodreads Reading Challenge: FINISHED!!
Updated Goodreads Reading Challenge: 63/90
The Official 2015 TBR Pile Challenge: 7/10
Dusting Of The Shelf Reading Challenge: 7/10
Bookish Bingo 2015: 35/45
2015 When Are You Reading? Challenge: 8/12
Reading Through The Centuries Challenge: FINISHED!!
Bookish Bingo Ready For Spring: 21/25
As always, I’ve managed to neglect the other reading and blogging goals for yet another month… I thought the Review-A-Thon I started last month would reduce the number of unfinished reviews, but I have been neglecting them anyway. Oops! I guess procrastination is still my middle name… I’ve decided to change by TBR pile goal to below 150 books instead, although it’s still a very unlikely goal haha. Even with the 18 books I’ve read last month I was able to increase the total amount of unread books on my shelf by eight, oops again! I guess I will have to start working on these goals during June…
# OTHER READING/BLOGGING GOALS #
Read at least 5 classicsFinish rereading the Harry Potter series- Complete at least 5 series: 3/5 (The Infernal Devices Trilogy/ Divergent Trilogy/The Grisha Trilogy)
- Bring my physical TBR pile below 150 books: 208/150
- Read at least one book over 800 pages: 0/1 (highest amount: 796 pages)
- Read at least 5 books in Spanish: 0/5
Join at least 5 challenges during the year- Finish older reviews that haven’t been posted yet: 0/10
- Update older reviews to new format: 15/32
Happy June and Happy Reading! 😀
As always, I am so impressed with how much you manage to read. Congratulations on surpassing your Goodreads goals. And, may I say, that knitting is fantastic! Looking forward to seeing the finished bedspread 🙂

Thanks! I was a bit surprised myself I was able to read this many books, but I guess I did pick quite a lot of ‘short’ reads… And hopefully I will be able to finish it before the winter ends. 😉

Impressive! Great month! I wish I could knit…I’m always jealous of people who can.

Thanks! I’ve only just started knitting myself! Luckily it’s only squares I will need for the bedspread; still no difficult patterns for me… A sweater would probably turn into a complete disaster. 😉

So many pretty colors for your bedspread! 🙂
Looks like you had an awesome month!
So many awesome challenges and it looks like you’re doing pretty good with them. I have no clue how you keep up with them all though! lol.
I’m basically just doing the Popsugar Reading Challenge and failing badly!
I am really hoping I get to The Wicked Will Rise soon.
Here is my recap post if you want to check it out: https://sociallyawkwardbookworm.wordpress.com/2015/05/31/may-reads-recap/

Haha it’s not that easy, but I guess I like lists so I tend to update them regularly… With links to the update posts on the right side of my blog. 😉 That only goes for the reading challenges though; I’m hopelessly failing with the other reading goals haha.
The Wicked Will Rise was good, although it does have a lot of action when you compare it to Dorothy Must Die. I’m currently reading the three novellas; probably starting the second one soon. 🙂

That’s good that you have the lists to help. Lists are always a good thing! 🙂
I have the novellas too that I have to read also.

Congrats on meeting your Goodreads goal already! I’ve only got 15 more to go so I’ll probably be increasing my goal. I love that bedspread you’re knitting! It looks awesome!

Thanks! I will probably end up increasing my goal again if I keep up these numbers, but at least Goodreads makes it easy to do that. I can’t wait to finish the bedspread! I love the colors, so hopefully they will look well together. 🙂

I’ve only just learned how so I’m still a beginner… But at least squares are easy. 😉 I love bright colors too! This bedspread will bring some color to our bedroom for sure. 😀

18 in one month? I bow to you you reading machine! Love seeing how you’re doing in all the challenges. Good luck!

Haha I guess a lot of them were ‘short’ reads so it doesn’t really count… Hopefully I will be finishing more challenges soon! 😀

I’ve only just started and only easy things for me for now… Luckily it’s only squares I will be needing for my bedspread. 😉 Happy reading! 😀

wow! you are a lean mean reading machine! Congrats on those goals!
Don’t forget to show us a pic of your finished bedspread. The colors look so bright and cheerful. I also like to crochet. I have a stack of granny squares that are waiting for me to join them into a blanket or something. The irony of it all is that I live in the coast were we have 35C weather all year long, so my blanket wouldn’t get used much. 😀

Haha thanks! I guess it will be hard to keep up those numbers… I guess it’s actually crochet I’m doing, but I’ve only just starting learning how and according to the ladies I bought my wool from I’m doing it ‘wrong’ and it looks more like I’ve knitted those squares lol. Since I like the look I won’t start over. 😉 I’m trying to finish it before the winter is over, because down here in Argentina it does get quite cold during winter. Only about 150 squares left…

You can do it! Take it one square at a time. 🙂
I believe you, I once travelled to Argentina when winter was just starting and it was freezing cold to me.

I can totally understand that! I have been moving around Latin America to escape winter a few years back, and even though I came back in early spring the last time I still thought it was freezing. 😉
